  1. I checked out network.sprint.com just now and didn't see any markers in nTelos or Swiftel areas. Just Shentel areas. But they have been in Shentel areas since November 2012. The Sprint coverage maps have always shown nTelos, Swiftel and Shentel.

Thank you for clarification.  Was hoping this indicated greater cooperation or service.

  2. That's why I gave Sprint my zip in the above tweets because I had a feeling they would confuse Martinsville VA with Martinsburg, WV

I always figured you guys would know the area best. What is interesting to me is that Sprint is including affiliate upgrade info on their network improvements page.

  3. Sent a tweet to Sprint today regarding the Ntelos towers here in Martinsville switching from EV-DO to eHRPD with no data and the reps told me they were recently upgraded with LTE but it has not been turned on yet (see tweets below).  I wonder if this is true because Sprint has always told me they couldn't see any of the Ntelos tower info like they could their own...

They are appearing on the Sprint Network Enhancements and Upgrades site: https://network.sprint.com/search/Martinsburg,%20wv/ and also for some other parts of Ntelos territory. Happy Hunting!!

P.S.: Other members are stating that is Shentel territory. Both seem to claim it: http://s4gru.com/index.php?s=6b6007e334f3a276d579a12834e0eed0&app=forums&module=post&section=post&do=edit_post&f=30&t=4742&p=278475&st=1860&_from=quickedit  If you can not tell by signal, then a site visit might be needed.

  4. Hm, it seems like I can find lte with sensorly.(mapped quite a bit today) But, it seems like I can never connect to it and keep a connection. Any suggestions or ways to force lte as priority?

LTE discovery pro will force your phone to find LTE much faster (1 minute versus 15 or so). The other possibilities are the site is in test mode or simply distance. Our market is about 3/4 done with most of what is left in the Columbus metro. If you want to know more, make a donation equal to your typical lunch out costs x 2 or 3, then you will have access to our detailed site maps for LTE 1900 and other non LTE info and forums.

  5. What his question is, as well as mine, when the S5 comes out will it get TriBand out of the box without rigging it up with special settings that somebody figured out? Not sure anybody knows yet though.

The reason for the special settings is that Columbus has not launched yet. Hopefully soon!

  6. Well.. on the way back from work I parked near the site located by East Broad and 270 ( this tower is in the cemetery ).. Im assuming although it's NV that backhaul has not been upgraded.

On NV 3g at this site I was only getting  0.04 down !

The Rey-NA site just slightly south of East Broad always seems to be decent on speeds for 3g.. at least its useable I mean..

Could also be over-utilized at that location.  Also watch to see if the number of antennas doubles in time (ie six NVs with 6 1900 RRHs and 3 800 RRHs)

  7. Does your market have eCSFB issues?

Yes. Our market also has not launched, but we are seeing sites rapidly being upgraded. Extensive band 41 network since last year that is not fully open.

  8. Just don't install the update. Simple.

Historically, it will keep pestering you. If it pops up while your doing something else, you might tap the update

  10. why do you think the ZVC update is a step backwards? It seems to have fixed a few things for the better. LTE reception seems to be good.

It is a step backwards when i have to give up 45+ fast b41 sites in a emerging market where there is often no lte, all because of the removal of hidden menu features

  11. How can we prevent this updated from appearing?

Any ways to kill it if Sprint tries to force it?

Being in an emerging market with hidden b41, i am not willing to go backwards. Already did that by giving up wimax.

Now i will strongly consider this update once my market is officially launched with all lte bands fully open

  12. I am finally wrapping up the last part of the next update with a new feature I've been trying to get working.. I call them "site notes". Basically you can enter whatever you want (site location, S4GRU map ID, etc) and it will appear whenever you are connected to that site. It will be based on SID+NID+BID for 1X, PLMN+GCI for LTE, and PLMN+LAC+CID for GSM.

I am not implementing this (or logging) it for EV-DO/eHRPD because most devices can't get any information that identifies the site. Also, devices that can't get the GCI will not be able to save LTE notes.

Now, before I start finalizing things, I would like some input from you guys.. should LTE notes be tied to the exact GCI? Or would it be better to only match the first 6 characters, ignoring the sector bits? I have it working now to match the entire GCI, but find myself just marking every site as "High School 1", "High School 2", "High School 3" etc. Does anyone find value in separate notes for each LTE sector? It needs to be one way or the other; this is not something I want to make configurable, at least not right now.

    Any and all opinions appreciated!

    Thanks,

    -Mike

I assume you are already differentiating bands elsewhere. Given that, i prefer the entire gci be used.

Now how are the one without notes going to be handled? I would divide this into two parts: your market, other markets. For you market an alarm sound will be most useful (think of the red alert from early Startrek), while for other markets leaving it blank or saying unknown would be fine. The alert should be configurable by signal type, ie band 25 lte, 1x800, etc.

    Thanks for asking.
