  1. I have definitely noticed an improvement in RF performance vs my M7. My department at work is like a dungeon (no windows  :badday: ) and LTE was borderline impossible to get in here with my M7 and it was definitely impossible with the Evo LTE. With the M8 I can now hold an LTE signal in here for most part. Hovers between -111 and -118 but its still strong enough so that web browsing, Instagram, and other tasks are still very quick. Data definitely feels faster on 3G as well. Much faster than the M7.

Also I have experienced the CSFB issue although it was nothing cycling airplane mode real quick didn't fix.

  2. I spoke with a Shentel wireless technician not terribly long ago who said the equipment was starting to come in for the band 26 and 41 upgrades. My guess is they will start in the more populated areas first but it's hard to say. I would love to have band 26 here due to living in a rural area. Band 41 would just be a bonus.

That's great. I was expecting to have Band 26 sometime this year but due to Sprint's constant reminders that Spark will be available in the top 100 markets over the next THREE years, I wasn't expecting to see Band 41 around here anytime soon. If the tech proves to be correct, that will be awesome news for us Shentelians.

  3. Question for the ones that have Tri-Band devices or any knowledge on the matter. If you have a Spark enabled device, does the top show a Spark LTE logo when connected to Band 25 if there is no B26 or B41 deployed in that market? Or does it just say 4G like non Tri-band devices? I was at Best Buy in York, PA yesterday and I was playing with the M8 and there was a Spark logo at the top.

  4. Not sure if it was posted yet but sprint stores will have the m8 for sale friday.

Is that all Sprint stores? If so that would put the street date about a week earlier than I expected! I sure hope so.

  5. The more comparisons I read about the m8 and the s5 the more I'm leaning towards the s5. Hopefully the radio will be a beast. Aside from materials and build quality seems like the s5 beats out the m8 in most categories. Or at least tie. Let's see what real world results will be.

I think the M8 also has it beat on the audio side with it's boomsound speakers. The front facing cam is not 5 megapixels for the ones that actually use or care about the front facing camera, and the battery life on the M8 is supposed to be pretty awesome. With it being in almost phablet territory.

  6. If a Sprint store gets some in stock before the 10th you think there's a chance they might sell me one since its a outright price?

If you're looking to buy it outright I don't think you would need to wait until the 10th. I almost pulled the trigger on one over the phone on the day it was announced, but decided that I didn't feel like spending $700 on a phone at the moment. It'll be much easier on the wallet to do Easy Pay. But yeah you should be able to just go to Sprint.com and purchase online. If not, then over the phone will definitely work.

  7. Band 41 deployment outside of WiMax markets will begin this summer. Sprint has committed to the top 100 markets for Band 41. Deployment outside of those markets is likely, but it is uncertain when that will start.

Green markets signify NV 3G (1x, EVDO), Band 25 LTE, and 1x800.

Band 26 (800) LTE information is available only in the Premier sponsor section.

I guess I'm in a peculiar situation. I live in York, PA which was surprisingly a WiMax market pretty early on during their rollout but we are definitely not a top 100 market. Does that mean that Band 41 LTE deployment could be underway here in York? I know that Shentel kinda has their own thing going on with their NV rollout so it's hard to keep track if band 26 or 41 are being worked on here without a Tri-Band device.

P.S: To all the people following this thread sorry for all the notifications. For some reason when I post my comment it just shows up as a blank message  :(

  8. I want to get this device. I haven't bought a HTC device in a long time. However, I'm unwilling to sign a contract with ATT and I don't want to fork out the $650. I haven't touched my savings at all this year. I need to be a good boy!

    Sprint Easy Pay?  :D

EDIT: I forgot you don't live in a Sprint coverage area anymore. Nevermind

  9. I would make the argument that people running speedtests all the time isn't making the network any faster. Sucks to see that Band 25 LTE is already getting strained in some places. Even here is York, PA, many areas are considerably slower, although still fast enough to do most of my daily tasks, minus watching a video on Youtube in HD. Sometimes I gotta bump it down to standard quality  :(

  10. I too am happy with the upgrade to Kit Kat. So far, I am liking the white battery icon. It is actually easier to see. I also liked the fact that I was able to customize the quick setting menu, and that it is easier to get to the quick settings menu.

Also, my battery life seems much better.

As for the Sprint Network Optimizer, it at least does not seem as annoying as the version that was on the Sprint EVO. Still, though, I think I will try to disable it.

Well you can rest assured that this version of Connections Optimizer is much more annoying than the last. Having Wifi automatically turn on all the time in the most unexpected locations. Places I have never even been to before and it's trying to connect to networks.

I also noticed that battery life had gotten worse than when I had 4.3 I turned off Connections optimizer looking for a solution and low and behold, my phone lasts twice as long.

  11. I always thought that having a Tri-Band device was enough of a challenge but adding T-Mobile's AWS spectrum to the mix would make things even more complex than necessary. At best I see Sprint keeping T-Mobile and Metro PCS' 1900 spectrum and selling off AWS to Verizon to get cash for all that spectrum.

In any case, I would much rather see Sprint/Softbank use all that money towards accelerating the Network Vision rollout rather than buying T-Mobile.

  12. Got this msg from sprint today for Lancaster PA. LTE is mostly active here:

SprintFreeMsg: Over the next month, the new network will be largely completed in your area.

Yeah I got this message in York, PA today, but we have had 1900 LTE and 1x 800 for months. So I don't know if that means that they are almost done removing all the legacy equipment and running solely on NV equipment or if this indicates that LTE 800 rollout is under way. I sure hope its both!  :D
