  1. Actually! If downtilt is set right, a rural Network Vision site could broadcast up to 10 miles. My house is about 7 miles from the nearest tower, and I get signal from that tower up to 12 miles away, so it is possible. How usable it will be? Probably not much at all.

Imagine how far the signal would travel from 1 tower when they deploy LTE 800

  2. Ok I got 4g in Woodbury,MN on highway 94 and I would also like to report that it seems that sprint has compleated there 3g upgrade in western wisconsin. I was in La Crosse, Sparta, Thoma, Black River Falls, Marshfield, Wisconsin Rapids, Wausau, Reilander, Shawano, Merrel, Ashland, and a few more this week and speeds went from a pathetic 50-100k to 500k to 1400 and it looks like they are still working on the network upgrade but it is now faster than my verizon phone in Wisconsin

Wrong thread but good news regardless. :tu:

  3. I did the factory reset and reloaded everything. It runs better for the most part, however the ram being used is ridiculously high. i don't know about anyone else, but on the stock reboot with nothing installed it ran at 800+MB according to the task manager and with all of my programs loaded it is nearly .9 GB. I recall before the update that i would barely peak at .50GB with an average of .30 GB.

Maybe someone can explain this to me, but it seems like something has become a memory hog.

Outside of that the other issue i have is swype not putting spaces in google searches and some other random areas. it has auto spacing checked and works fine in other apps.

I do like the music controls in the drop down menu, and the increased volume from the beats audio.

There also used to be a pretty noticeable "hissing" sound when you used to use beats audio that appears to be improved a lot.

  4. Nope. This seems to be a commonly held myth that I have tried to dispel but have failed.

Sure, I could be dead wrong, but I can find no reason that EVRC-NW requires CDMA1X Advanced. EVRC-NW operates at no higher data rate; it just uses more advanced data reduction techniques.

So, EVRC-NW requires device and MSC compatibility. That is it.

So it all comes down to Sprint rolling out an update to the EVO to enable it? Could it be possible that it already has the capability enabled? I have never talked on the phone to someone with another EVO LTE so I can't try it.

  5. HD Voice is largely/entirely a device issue, not a network issue.

Have you applied any updates to your EVO LTE? Out of the box, the EVO LTE does not appear to support the EVRC-NW codec necessary for HD Voice.

You can check for EVRC-NW by using the ##VOCODER# dialer code, selecting edit mode, and entering your MSL.

I thought that HD Voice was only going to be usable on CDMA 1x Advanced so wouldn't that have to be deployed in order for me to use it?

  6. Yes. Sprint will be adding LTE 800 to approx. 80% of their sites starting in the 2nd half of 2013.

    Hey Robert,

Do you have any idea on when Sprint will begin rolling out HD Voice? I know earlier this year they expected to have it launched in some areas by the end of this year but things have obviously gotten pushed back.

  7. So my launcher has been running really slow and choppy every now and then on my EVO lately. Mine has done it about 3 times in the past week or so and the only remedy is to reboot my phone. Maybe its an app that I have installed recently or just could it just be a bug in Sense? Has anybody seen anything like this on their device after updating to JB?

  8. I have a right to complain. You're not not paying my bill. I'm paying for a service. If u choose to accept slow speeds that's fine. Don't tell me what I should accept

If you're paying for the service then you are choosing to accept the speeds that you are receiving.

Back to the point of this thread. Its pretty amazing how much of the Bronx is shown covered in Sensorly despite there being only about 2 dozen LTE sites there. I can't wait to see what the map will look like once full launched.

  9. Sprint knows what's going on. I received a call back yesterday about my service. I will receive another call today in reference to the issue I am having with my service. I had several people check the coverage area I can't see it in my end. I'm sure they can see it on their end.

Of couse they know what's going on, but you calling and complaining about not receiving a service that they haven't launched in your city makes absolutely no sense.

Behavior like this is exactly why carriers choose to block the signal until an entire market is ready.

  10. If u think about it each borough takes 10 weeks that could up to a year for some boros that would suck for some but I think everything will spread out in the next coming months so I wouldn't worry

And when you consider that NYC has been deploying at a pretty slow rate so far, with about 10-15 updates per week on the NV Sites Complete thread. But it has been picking up in speed lately so NYC deployment should start speeding up now.

  11. Leozno1 again thank you. I just sent in a donation, Not sure how long that part takes but when it is done can you point me in the direction of those maps to check out my area.

    Thanks again.

Well your account is now listed as an S4GRU Sponsor so you're good to go. Just go to the Main forums page and scroll down and there is a section titled "Interactive S4GRU Maps" and if you go in there, you can find the maps specifically for the state of Pennsylvania.

And just to help you out here is the direct link to that map.

  12. Hello, I am sorry if this is the wrong place to write this so if someone could help me that would be great. My issue is that I live in White Haven, PA 18661 and I have 1x data service and mostly around me is the same. I have been with Sprint since 2002 and it is hard to just pick up and leave. I have been trying to find out if they are upgrading the towers around my area that are still on 1x. If so when and to 3g or 4g. I have been told for years that we would get 3g and then I was told we were getting 4g wimax and now they are telling me that I will be upgraded to 4g LTE. I just don't know if I believe them. Does anyone have any info that could help. I am leaving Sprint if there is not a clear answer, but I wanted to give this a shot before I left.

    Thanks in advanced

First of all, Welcome to the site!

White Haven, PA is part of the Central Pennsylvania Market which is not slated to begin receiving upgrades until sometime in 2013 so you still have a little bit of a wait ahead of you, but if you become a sponsor to this site you will have access to several interactive maps that show the locations of all the towers that will be upgraded and you can see if any in your area will be upgraded.

  13. Now as far as my distance from the tower as said I am about 8 blocks away.I used the link provided to obtain my actual lte signal strength and ....well see for yourself!

Screenshot_2012-12-19-21-56-01-11.pngwith a excellent signal this is the average daily (outdoor) speeds Screenshot_2012-12-19-21-44-19-11.png

Didnt someone here reply if I could show strong signal and slow speed then we would talk? Lets talk !! :twitch:

Well I have noticed that I get vastly different speeds depending on the server you are connected to. I live in York, PA but I have noticed that I get my best speedtest results if I connect to the Washington DC server. Try that and see if your speeds increase at all. If not then I would leave one of the experts on here answer your question cuz I would be stumped as well.
