  1. St. Thomas is just too small to waste any time with sensorly. Whenever 4g lights up, if I am on the island I will run it for the hell of it but with only 8 towers and minimal land mass to begin with there isn't much to map.
  2. I must add that today I've been averaging about 2 megs down so far(havensight area), this just doesn't happen in this area during the day.
  3. Service was pretty solid over the weekend, no dropped calls while averaging a little over 1 meg down.
  4. There are simple mods that will allow for the back botton or the home button to be used as the menu button by pressing and holding. Like what mrrogers1 also suggested there is a mod to allow the htc logo(not the actual logo but the tiny space right above it) to be used as a menu button but that requires a flash of a modified kernel. Personally I try to stay away from heavily modified kernels because they are seldomly as stable as a stock kernel or close to stock kernel and to me the the pros or the coolness factor does not outweigh the potential cons.
  5. I have ran numerous speedtests using different devices on att's hspa+ and I have never been to get no more than 1.5 to 2 meg down even under the most optimal conditions.
  6. I been in the havensight area all morning and I did experience the outage as well but since then everything has been pretty smooth including 3g speeds.
  7. Maybe I didn't make myself clear on the last page, BACK ON TOPIC PEOPLE, PLEASE!!!!!!!!!
  8. Keep in mind that sprints upgrades includes an entire network overhaul from top to bottom unlike att, so it will no doubt take more time.
  9. Every single person in my family and 80% of my friends that lives in the VI uses att and they constantly remind me that the grass isn't greener on the their side every time I get frustrated and think about switching to them. They have just as many complaints as sprint customers do.
  10. Lets be real about one thing, sprint didn't promise anything at all. Secondly you can't compare the VI to any other market because everything happens at a snails pace when it comes to the VI and you know that and because of that you should have more realistic expectations no matter what anyone else says. When it comes to tech, nothing is reliable in the VI, you name it: innovative, choice, wapa, sprint, att ......etc, hell look at how inefficient the local goverment is. We can't even electronically file a tax return locally. They all constantly have issues because of the lack of infrastructure here and you should know that. So even though this is frustrating as hell you definitely can't blame sprint. Look as far back in this thread and I been saying from the beginning that PR will get completed in record pace while the VI will no doubt lag behind. I have made that statement many times in the past so I for one am not surprised about what is going on right now. Further more if sprint isn't providing you or anyone else with what you need then by all means go to another carrier. You can get lte right now in the VI if you make the switch to att. Just remember why we are all here in the first place and its because we can't get this level of information any where else on the web. No one is jumping on dude back but it does help to type and communicate clearly. I AM A PROUD VIRGIN ISLANDER born and raised here and graduated from IEKHS and went to UVI, but I also know how to communicate effectively and talk like I am an educated person(because I am). Everything I say may not be correct but at the same time I don't sound like I am 15 when I make a post(just making a general post, I am not calling anyone out just to be clear). If you want anyone to ever take you seriously then you will have more of a professional attitude even if what you are saying is wrong. Being from the VI our broken english can be difficult for others to understand so typing the same way as we speak does nothing but add to the frustrations of those that won't understand. Yes this is a forum but also keep in mind that this is a website is privately owned and operated by Robert with expenses being paid out of his own pockets and the pockets of our paying sponsors and he is the one that sets all the rules that we have to abide by and being part of the staff of this site I am required to make sure that those rules are followed. So by all means lets get this thread back on topic and enough of the personal jabs at each other. Any other deviations in this thread and warnings will be passed out and potential infraction could follow. So please lets focus on the topic on hand.
  11. This is what makes this site so awesome and why being a sponsor can be very beneficial, you can find all the answers you need right here. "Lordsutch" pointed me to the one tower thats actually closest to you that I totally missed. You are couldn't be in the worst spot for lte, LOL. There are probably 7 or 8 towers surrounding you that are upgraded but the one tower thats the very closest has not been upgraded yet so once that happens then you will be fine. So yeah, you are getting 1x\3g from that tower and 4g from one of the surrounding towers a few miles away.
  12. Yep you are absolutely right, I totally missed that.
  13. I googled the intersection he gave, it came up with piedmont Rd ne and lakeshore Dr ne, unless I am missing something? Is there somewhere else they intersect?
  14. I have been following that thread, the post you linked to is from a person who is in Croatia, they're not using a sprint One. From what I have read so far it doesn't appear to me that anyone has gotten this to actually work on the sprint variant, its still a work in progress(you are more than welcome to prove me wrong though). Even though I don't post much on xda, I do spend a ridiculous amount of time there.
  15. Based on what has been discussed so far on xda(the same two threads a linked to a few posts up), I don't think there is any other way to sim unlock the Sprint One other than going through sprint themselves so if someone told you that they can then more than likely they are mistaken, trust me on this one.
  16. Also, in todays paper there is an article about some of sprints issues on the island which they are saying has been cause because of some equipment failures between here and PR. Not much else as far as details go though. EDIT: My 1700th post!!!!!
  17. Yeah, you should have seen the look on my face last night when I was using my sisters ipad. She was showing me something online and as I was reading I looked up and noticed the lte symbol, I was like WTF?!!!!!!!!!! My sister looked at me like I was crazy. So I took her iphone 5 and ran a few speed tests off of it.
  18. Ok based on that intersection it seems like all the surrounding towers have already been upgraded to 4g. I would say keep monitoring your lte signal strength and see if it persists.
  19. Well the atlanta market still isn't quite complete but its close. I would say based on information provided, atlanta is about 80% complete when it comes to lte. Looking at our map there is a tower or two that hasn't been completed yet so your phone is probably connected to 1x/3g on a closer tower but connects to 4g on a tower further away. Which part of buckheard are you located exactly? Can you give me the closest intersection?
  20. The sprints version of the htc one and the gs4 are cdma devices yes but they both have a removable sim for lte. If you remove the sim in either of your Sprint One or GS4 you won't be able to connect to sprints's lte service. Both these devices are also world phones so I can remove the sim card in my Sprint HTC One and put another carrier sim in it and the phone will work on that GSM network if the corresponding frequencies(for voice and 3g data) are supported. Now obviously lte won't work on any other carrier but you will have voice services and basic data services. It has already been reported over on xda that some users have already managed to get their Sprint One to work on tmobile. No flashing to another company is required, once your sim is unlocked, you just put whatever sim in it and go. Again though, service may not be as consistent but it does work. The sim unlock process is a little different with the sprint version being that there is no way for you to enter a sim unlock code. At one point sprint didn't even know how to unlock the phone, the steps that they took you through didn't work. Since then they have refined the process and now its working so to unlock your One you have to contact sprints international department. This is meant for use when travelling overseas but some that have already gotten it unlocked were able to also get it work on tmobile. If you have time read these, its pretty lengthy but has a lot of useful information: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2308572 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2243724
  21. Well the gs4 and the htc one on sprint both have removable sims, if you remove the sim though you won't be able to get lte. I haven't sim unlocked my phone through sprint as yet but a few people over on xda have been able to get it done contacting their international department. Some have also said that they have gotten their sprint One to work on tmobile sans lte of course.
  22. I finally made it back to the VI and sure enough, att has lte service. Ran a few speedtests on my sisters iphone5 and its averaging about 8 megs down and about 3 up. Not bad at all, so hopefully sprint can get something going pretty soon. In the mean time 3g has been good to me so far.
  23. Well that sucks, I am heading down that way from atlanta tomorrow for a few weeks so I really hope sprint will get things together soon. Its tough going from 4g lte everywhere to 3g no where LOL.
