  1. Depends on the OS and if everything is there to support it.

For example here is a write up on how some did it on the kindle fire

    http://www.pcworld.c...indle_fire.html

But from looking at the video of the tablet it looks like its running straight ICS not some big stripped version of Android like others are running, so it could be as easy as just installing it...

Well if this can be done with these tablets, this may actually be a decent deal. I don't have any kids but if I did, I would be getting them something like this instead of dropping $500 on an ipad or whatever high end android tablet.

  2. I think it has to do with the framework used from Android. If you dont use the complete framework base then you can't have Google Play access nor the core Google Apps like Gmail, maps, and such. Like the Kindle Fire for example...

So is it a simple fix as in just installing the google play apk or is it more than that?

  3. 1gb for free? Is this some kind of joke? Even though drop box starts you out with 2gb you can get an addtional 3gb for free if you download the android app(by using the auto upload option) as well as getting additional free space by referring others to use dropbox, not to mention I also have a box.net account with 50gb of free space. Google should have started with at least 5 to 10 gb of space to entice others away from dropbox.

  4. WOW!!! People do this every day, you can't blame apple for having their glass so clean. This lady simply wasn't paying attention, so the only negligence here is her own inability to pay attention.

    Edit:

But who am I kidding? If it happened to me I would be suing apples ass too, worse case scenario is we settle out of court for half that amount so we both win. LOL!!!!!!

  5. I think Sgt was only referring to 4G phones, not all phones in either carriers offering.

I know that, but what I am saying is verizon had several non 4g smartphones that easily took sales away from them selling 4g phones. Not only that but at the beginning of the year sprint had the evo, evo shift and epic available for sale. Verizons first 4g phone (the htc thunderbolt) wasn't released until the middle of march last year then their second 4g phone (the droid charge) wasn't released until the end of april with other phones being released in the middle to the end of the year. What i am saying is that I don't think you can compare sales from both.

To add if a typical customer walks into a verizon store last year, sees a thunderbolt, droid charge, whatever other phones and an iphone 4 chances are they will be getting the iphone 4. Same scenario but with sprint, a typical sprint customer walks into a sprint store this time last year, their choices were an evo, evo shift, epic and whatever other phone. Chances are pretty high that they would be going with an evo. If sprint got the iphone 4 the same time as verizon did last year I can assure you that the customer would be going with an iphone 4 thus decreasing the overall sales of 4g phones. So I really do believe that the iphone 4 has this particular statistic skewed quite a bit.

  6. the whole fact that Sprint was able to add more WiMax devices last year than Verizon was LTE devices is amazing to me! That fact should be an eye opener to people......

IMHO this is a little misleading. The reason why sprint sold more wimax devices than verizon lte devices is because quite frankly sprint customers didn't have much as to chose from. Verizon has way more handsets to chose from, in addition to that, their number one selling phone was the iphone last year which obviously isn't lte. So I think that this particular stat is meaningless. If sprint had the iphone all of last year I can assure that this statistic would look totally different.

  7. Welcome to the site, its a wonderful place to be and filled with all sorts of great information. As far as tower location it really depends. Some towers, like in your particular case may not be accessible but others are right there in the open. For example, the closest tower to me is in the back parking lot of a hooters restaurant. The tower itself is fenced off of course but I can walk all around it and take as many pics as I like. There is another one a few miles away that right behind a kmart store that anyone can walk up to, so it just depends.

  8. How do I find the Sprint towers that are in my area? I know it will be awhile before NV even starts here but figured I could still watch for any work(backhaul) being done. Zip code is 73130.

Not sure if this will help but there is an app I used to use called open signal, it can be found on the market. Its a neat little utility app and it shows which tower your phone is connected too, so you can at least find the closest tower to you where ever you are. I have used it a few times in the past and it worked great.

  9. Because (most) Apple fanboys are completely smitten with everything apple. If it doesn't have the Apple label on it, it's junk. There are some that will also see the merits of other devices, but still think the Apple is superior. It seems like every article proclaiming some new innovation on an Android, WP etc device, there will be some Apple fanboy dumping on it. Not quite to this degree, but something like this: "The new Windows Phone has a sensor that can detect and cure cancer, and it has been proven to work by every scientific body in the world. This is revolutionary and will increase the quality of life for everyone on the planet." Apple fanboy response: "This project was scrapped on the iPhone, all it does is kill your battery and it has been proven by Apple that cancer is preferential to getting Alzheimer's. Nobody wants this feature, Apple is the king of the world."

I just always want to say "yep, we get it, you love Apple"

    LMAO!!!!!

  10. You are learning grasshoppa'! I could probably list about 10 different things people showed me on iphone that I had for at least a year or more. Its the brainwashing! :)

I just had a conversation with my younger sister(who is die hard apple) about the rumoured larger 4.6" screen and she was so excited. Then I had to remind her of the conversation me and her had two years ago when the evo was about to come out and how she found it so funny that any phone with that size screen is just too big and that people would look stupid using a phone that size. She paused for second then didn't say anything else, then I told her she needs to stop drinking that apple kool aid.

  11. The thing that gets me is that when the evo 4g came out all the haters were saying how the screen is too large, you need two hands to use it, how is it gonna fit in your pocket, no one wants a tablet for a phone......I could go on, but you guys know where I am coming from. Now that apple is coming out with a larger screen those same haters are gonna be saying how awesome and beautiful it is and that 4.6" screen is gonna be perfect. It's like when apple does it, it's cool, but when anyone else does it, it either sucks or people say they stole the idea from apple.
