  1. According to the NV schedule, 3G is not live yet at any of the Network Vision sites in the Atlanta/Athens market. Only LTE so far. Same with Houston, Dallas, San Antonio and Kansas markets. In most other NV markets, it is the other way around. 3G is live, but 4G is not yet.

    Why is that?

  2. I am currently deciding between the Galaxy Nexus and Evo 4G LTE. I am upgrading from the iPhone 4S to one of these phones. Which phone? Also who ever owns the Galaxy Nexus please list pros and cons of owning the Galaxy Nexus

Well, this kind of question will get you a lot of different answers but since I just bought a galaxy nexus on release day and since I am also planning on getting an evolte when its released I think I can asnwer your question. Now as far as specs goes there isn't any doubt that the evolte exceeds the gnex but this spec war in my opinion is getting out of hand. These companies really need to focus more on user experience/battery performance versus who has the most cores.

Anyway, there are other phones that have better specs(not by much) than the gnex but I hardly doubt you can find a phone thats any more responsive than the gnex. Everything I click on opens up instantaneously, there isn't any lag whatsoever when using this device. Some people may say to not waste an upgrade on a phone with last years specs but the gnex really is a great phone to own. The screen is beautiful to look at even though the pentile display gets on my nerves at times, especially on fine print but for the most part the display is great.

As far as the evolte, based on the one x reviews the screen(slcd 2) is the best screen on the market so far which is saying a lot and even though the camera may not be the absolute best smartphone camera it does have quite a bit of features that put many other smartphone cameras to shame. And then there is sense 4.0 which seems to be a lot less resource hungry and compliments android 4.0 versus trying to replace it. So to answer your question if you aren't entirely in a rush I would say just wait for the evolte but just know the gnex isn't a bad option either.

  3. I hope that is true. It would go inline with what a Sprint store rep told me.

The only thing though that gives me some pause, isn't this the same website that said the EVO 4G LTE does TD-LTE 2600 and LTE 800? It was the only site that I read that gave those additional specs.

Wow, I didn't even see that.

  4. uh oh....more info the date is getting pushed up....

Every rumor I have heard so far I have taken with a grain of salt but goodandevo, even though they are a relatively small site, have proven themselves before so I am having a hard time not believing this. I am so excited!!!

  5. 20mb down... 9 1/2 mob upload ... Athens.

    Wait what? :twitch:

I am so jealous of you right now. I have visited 4 sites so far in the southern part of atlanta and have yet to get an lte signal.

  6. The tower very well may not be pointed down enough for you to connect to it. The tower's intended design may be to service an area farther away. Also have you checked the interactive map to make sure it is a Sprint tower?

Of course its a sprint tower

If you truly are on the same tower, perhaps your Evo traffic is going through a proxy.

##3282# > View Mode > Advanced > HTTP PD Proxy Address. What do you have?

The proxy address is pd.vog.sprintpcs.com on both evos but I can't use any epst codes on the gnex, I used a couple different epst apks but none of them worked.

  7. I asked this question because I have been noticing something kinda weird. As I sit here typing this I have 2 evo 3d's and 1 gnex sitting in front of me and all 3 phones are connected to a tower that is about a mile off to my west, if I go to the end of my street all 3 phones then switch to another tower that is about 3/4 mile to the north but there is a tower that is literally less than a 1000 feet from me that none of the phones connect to, why is that?

    Edit:

I would also like to know if there is any particular reason why both evo's get subpar 3g performance in comparison to my gnex. In every case I would be lucky if I get 200kbps on either evo but on the gnex I am getting atleast 1000 to 1500 kbps using the same servers while connected to the same towers.

  8. What is wrong with the Galaxy Nexus camera?

I am pleasantly surprised by the performance of the gnex camera, its no where near as bad as what people are making it out to be.

It's universally considered the weak point on the phone. They used a lower quality camera in it than what Samsung put in the GSII. That's not to say it's bad. Just not nearly as good as the IP4S, GSII and other top-tier phones.

I wouldn't go as far as saying universally, yes there are better cameras on other phones but the camera on the gnex is definitely not the bottom of the barrel.

  9. I read this earlier and honestly this news is a lot better than what many people were thinking it was going to be, including myself. If network vision really turns out to be the next best thing since slice bread then sprint will be in the drivers seat. I really hope they can pull this off.

  10. Sadly, with the way CDMA activation works I don't think you'll ever see it. That would require carrier involvement. With GSM, google can avoid the carrier entirely. If carriers use LTE sim cards like GSM sims maybe theirs hope for the future. But I don't know enough about how LTE sims work. Can you pop them out and put into other lte phones?

Yeah, I think he was just talking about the price and not the whole cdma vs gsm thing.

  11. From what I have seen this has been happening to people that pre-ordered and received theirs in the mail. Those that got it in store doesn't seem to have that problem. My gnex activated just fine in store on sunday, data is running fine.

  12. I think its going to be a small upgrade, hopefully not, but after seeing the galaxy tab 2.... i think they're gonna follow apple with small upgrades..

I don't think it will be a small upgrade being that the iphone 5 isn't to far away which we all know will be more than just a minor upgrade.

  13. I always use to tell myself that I will never own a phone without a hardware keyboard, that was one of the biggest reasons why I almost ended up not buying the original evo. At this point though, I will never go back to a phone with a hardware keyboard, I don't care what kind of specs it has.
