  1. Ouch that sucks. Hit the 10yr Mark right when they kill premier program and yearly upgrades... Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk
  2. Reason I said clear and all is bc its not different in the end. They are putting the 2.5GHz freq in NV according to all docs they have out out so less hooking up to the new stations is something that wouldn't req Sprint related ppl there it makes sense to go ahead and do towers with the Clear hardware already there bc that results in one less trip by a Sprint person to the tower imho. Less they would let Clear come and add the hardware for 2.5GHz on said towers on their own and hook into the basestation... Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk
  3. There are a bunch of apps like that for android that people use. Problem with the dummy light idea is in order to do that you have to leave WiFi on and scanning and even if done in intervals that process kills battery life and is something users won't be happy about... Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk
  4. Well they have that contract with Smith Micro to use their network management which kinda does the offloading per rules it sets... Though still yet to see this implemented so no true clue how its going to work fully...or the costs of using it like battery life and such... Time will tell. Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk
  5. Regardless you only see the advantage on transgress within your home network really. Just like if you get a gig router but ur ISP is only for 15Mbps it doesn't mean u can download things at 1Gbps. Lol Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk
  6. Did they recently up their share? Thought it was 52 before... Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk
  7. This along with do-advanced should help some capacity issues big time no? do-advanced helps huge on the management side of data. Though I haven't herd anything about DO-Advanced since Azzi commented on it late last year saying that they were "...exploring it..." Would think that they would go ahead and go with it in the NV upgrades...
  8. Maybe they get it b/c Clear's hardware is already on the towers there so its one less thing that has to be worked in later since the whole point is having the multimodal tower across all freq. I'd think if Clear's WiMax is not there then the hardware for the 2.5GHz band isn't either on the tower and in turn would just be one more thing they would have to add(cost wise) along with possibly having to co-ordinate with Clearwire to get them to add it to the tower. Otherwise wouldn't Clear have to come back through later and add said hardware and get up with the partners or Sprint to have ti hooked into the NV basestation?
  9. could Sprint afford to even be involved in an auction? Thought Sprint would be cash strapped to even bid on anything with the whole NV rollouts underway and helping Clear too. Also the whole LS failing not helping their cash status too doesn't help.
  10. couldn't give me an amazon kindle fire for free if you wanted too. My wife has one she snaged in a haste before one of her company training trips she was taking so she'd have something to read on and do stuff. I will say it suits her to an extent but no way I'd touch this thing after messing with it. They get around the cheapness by not having it be an actual google product, hence no google apps like all other android devices. Also the overlay is more intense and restricted than anything ive ever seen.(signs of Apple like control) The fact that they have things on there labeled as "Apps" when they are as far from being an "app" as possible really irks me. Example the "Facebook" and "twitter" apps on there are absolutely nothing more than an internet shortcut directing you to the mobile site for each. when I saw that I could not contain the laugh over the whole thing. Yes Amazon KindleFire has its market just like the Nook Color has its, as they are the same market imho. They are after those Book Store going women that know very little about tech more than anything. Just to shed light on this theory, I was leaving Barns and Nobel the other week and as I was walking out I over herd a conversation between two women in their late 40s-50s that went like this: Women1: Is that the Nook? Women2: Yes I love it! Women1: So you can read books, AND get on the internet on that?? Women2: yes its amazing! I stopped listening at this point and realized there is just that big of a tech difference between generations of people as I could not believe how shocked/excited they sounded when going over the fact it could do internet & Books. lol There is a market for those devices for sure.
  11. Good phone maybe. But i just feel like its a bad decision to waste an upgrade on a device when you know a flagship device is about to be released in a few months... Only reason to buy phones now is if u want them for cheap and your 100% sure they will last you 18mo since the whole premier program is done.. Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk
  12. Oh man if you've held that evo4g this long, then do everyone a favor and wait just a few more months and pick up one of the LTE devices they release. No way I'd waste an upgrade on a Wimax phone, esp a device that was released last year... Just my 2cents Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk
  13. Qualcomm is only chip I'm looking for in my phone. S4 is a must for me personally. I'd like quad but don't think qualcomms quad chip for phones will b out till next yr or earliest this winter sometime... Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk
  14. Yeah next EVO will likely be announced then bit possibly the nexus be out earlier. CTIA being a month later than normal is a little wrinkle in this... Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk
  15. Yeah while I agree with you, its tough to argue with the VP...less he ment "their phones" as in not including the nexus and such in that category...? Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk
  16. Ditto, though i didn't sell my 4G as its my backup. Next phone I get though ill sell either the 3D or 4G then. Need my back up LOL. I can't order but from telesales anyway with my account being one of those old sero ones that got converted over. Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk
  17. Their VP stated awhile ago they they expected LTE devices to hit market 3rd qtr this yr and could even be late 3rd at that... Was on engadget before CES but I remember this for sure. Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk
  18. Saw that. Also that it said itd be up to manufacturers whether to implement/activate that in the chip too. Which is nice bc that means if HTC/sprint want to be dbags like with the evo4g and disable wireless N, all it will take is a simple edit to gain the feature... Though I haven't seen any need for any devices running the AC standard in my home as it is, as i haven't come across many if any routers that support it...could be wrong there though. Still regardless it truly only helps inter network transfers and not necessarily download speeds as those will be limited to you ISP service. Like people getting gig routers when their ISP is only 15Mbps it doesn't help but transfers from within ur home network... Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk
  19. That's a Verizon problem there. Whatever they do seems to always involve network outages in large places....Sprint seems to hold theirs up more constantly than VZ does. Least that's the impression I've gotten over the past 10+ yrs I've been with them. Hardly ever hear of a Sprint outage least not as often as you do VZ... Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk
  20. Loving the updates. just to be sure im on same page though here. When you list them under "Deployment Underway" that would mean they are actually working on it already or it could just start anytime before mid year? I ask b/c of the last one "D.C." as in the article you listed it as starting before mid year, yet listed it in "Deployment Underway" instead of with Boston in "Deployment to Begin in 2012." just wondering the criteria or if i missed something. im not meaning to be nitpicky here btw. love the stuff!!
  21. just an idea of some stuff found in the S4!!!
  22. Yeah debated long long time in the evo4g forum after they coded Wimax to work on AOSP. BUT it was ALL theory and very tough for people to understand that. LOL Regardless nothing is certain till you see it pass through FCC clearing and can read what the device is cleared for use... Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk
  23. You would think Samsung would grow a pair and tell them hey u wanna sue our phones for X crap? Okay well we think ur chips might cost a lil more this yr.... Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk
  24. Ha HTC not on the list....maybe that's why Samsungs have signal issues along with apples antennaegate too while HTC doesn't. Lol jkjk Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk
