  1. I would say the "first" LTE devices might not, like the ones already announced. BUT I would venture that if the next HTC flagship device for them is not till late 3rd qtr THEN I'd venture to say that that device MIGHT have support for the 2.5GHz LTE. They provisioned the EVO3D for the 800MHz CDMA when they knew that was well over a year out at least....So using that logic I think its "possible" to see devices provisioned for certain freq long as those are within 2yr window of being active.... BUT there is a big ? from me here personally. They state they are doing rollout of LTE by June next yr BUT does it really state that it will actually be on and running?? I just find it confusing how they plan on rolling out LTE on these WiMax locations when Sprint has stated multiple times that they are committed to supporting WiMax through 2015. So if its not really going to be able to be turned on till 2015 then I wont think we would see any sprint LTE devices provisioned for it till 2014... I know they said "overlay WiMax" but I didn't take that as them actually transmitting WiMax & LTE at the same Freq/Spectrum....correct me if I'm wrong in that though...
  2. Well this might hurt a bit for sprint too. Least if they have already spent some of this...or planned on needing it for other things... http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/15/sprint-may-have-dug-itself-a-65-million-hole-with-lightsquared/ Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk
  3. Whats sad is that I tried for a year to get a WiMax antennae for my home to get my EVO4G/3D WiMax signal and even offered to pay for it but seemed nowhere to be found or even possible as only ones available were not set to the right freq. I'd offer up the roof of my home to have a booster placed on in order to get better data to my whole neighborhood. lol Wonder what that lil cube guy costs btw. lol
  4. yeah I was wrong not "years" but "quarters" instead. lol. Last they said was they "...had enough cash to keep the company going for several quarters..." http://gigaom.com/broadband/can-carl-icahn-pick-up-the-pieces-of-lightsquared/
  5. cool to know. I mean from their previous talk they have funding to still grind this out for at least a couple years and try other things, whatever they may be...
  6. yeah but if they could manage to figure out a way to allow users to in a sense dual boot the device and choose stock Android or Sense they could make a huge gain on everyone else. Sense is so deep in the OS that you can't just switch it out like a theme and change to stock Android really. Though I'm sure people would jump even if they just offered as close to a stock Android Theme in the HTC Hub...That there wouldn't be tough to do at all...
  7. yeah heres the story on engadget too. http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/14/fcc-to-deny-lightsquared-lte-bid/ They have the $$ to keep plugging away at this thing for a few years evidently too so will be interested to see how it ends up in the long haul...
  8. agreed. I had an ipod nano(b4 they were small) long long long long long long long ago and couldn't even begin to tell you where that thing is now..... Had a MotoQ(which I switched to from my Sweet Nextel device!) during the iPhone craze, and then once I got my EVO4G I fell in love with Android. Always the more techy person personally I just didn't like the "cult" following apple always seemed to have. Even after messing with my parents iPad2 a month ago to help them set it up, I still dont like their products....Everyone says its always a product that "just works" and is "easy to use" well thats not always the case as my folks had a heck of a time getting it fully set up. They got it like 90% there. lol And even after toying around with it for an hour after the fact I was left with a "blah" feeling over it....the cloud sync for everything was cool I guess but nothing that couldn't be set up in Android tablets anyway, and there was a ton of stuff in Android that iOS lacked. I will say though I get a little sick of reading all the biased tech articles geared toward Apple products treating them like they are untouchable. When they completely copied Androids popup notifications you read about how cool these new notifications are they added, and NOT about how they finally have a feature Android has had for ever. I like widgets, being able to have my homescreens for what I want, and not be forced to put ALL my apps there. When will Apple have an App Drawer, patent it, and then sue Google? lol
  9. http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/15/apple-kodak-patent-lawsuit-bankrupt/ really dont know what to say about this one.... What do you expect to gain in the end of this?....
  10. What your talking about with the EVO4G was not the stock Android UI fully. It was merely just the stock Android Launcher/rosie that they left in for you to pick from. Theres a lot more different from the Stock Android UI than just the rosie/launcher.
  11. ha I hear ya. I am just lucky I've been able to be on WiFi 90% of the time so im not really effected by it as much as I could be. Stuck with Sprint/Nextel for over 10years so I'm in the long haul here and dont want to miss out on the NV rollout when it happens now at this point...
  12. everytime I get in the car I usually run some speed tests and I tell you there ARE SOME places where on 3G I actually can hit over 1Mbps which to me is jaw dropping. lol What got me is when I talked to Advanced Tech about it and my tower specifically he emailed me the work order for the T1 EVDO and T1 Voice to be added to the tower "soon." What I was floored by was that the Voice was added B4 the EVDO! I've NEVER had a dropped call once here, yet thats the area they wanted to add patch capacity too first? lol NV tower upgrade can't come soon enough.
  13. looks kinda like some of the stuff Verizon rolled out in Indy for the superbowl....and left in place even after...least everything except the COW's http://www.indianapo...1871e3ce6c.html http://www.gottabemo...-super-bowl-46/
  14. haha your speeds look like mine here except better. lol ping is typically around 1100ms too. such a joke for being 0.5mi from the tower. Thank god for wifi. lol
  15. Cool, yeah I've never seen anyone with that kind of ping and speeds but guess in reality the speeds are not that bad and are actually close to the advertised average speed for 3G sprint states. Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk
  16. Yes though but for the most part with sprints network Ull see high speeds with low pings. That's the first I've ever seen low pings like that and horrible speeds... Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk
  17. Slow speeds there 3G wise for that low of a ping...... Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk
  18. Yeah I think the main point of the contract is on the # required to sell, like sprints was. then its up to the carrier to decide how to price it more so. We all know the $250ish sweet spot thats out there for phones and recently seeing carriers starting creeping higher from that. in a sense it doesn't matter b/c the carrier agrees to buy X devices at X price, then its up to them to sell the device. dunno how it works within the actual apple stores though....now they could very well control it indirectly through other terms in a sense.... Apple is the most controlling of them all out there so anything is possible. I just know I wont ever own that phone. No way.
  19. Don't think its the contract stating the carrier has to subsidize X amount. The contracts with apple have more to do with exclusivity and # of units guaranteed to sell(buy from apple). So if say sprint finds itself in a hole and can't fulfill the # u could see them do some crazy special on them for cheap if the $ worked out right. They might stipulate a floor for iPhone prices in the contract though I doubt it, but they likely don't state you have to sell it for X amount. Apple gets paid the same amount no matter what the carrier charges as they are buying them from apple anyway... Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk
  20. Well here is the issue for me. I honestly was wanting to jump on the next HTC phone based on the new S4 qualcomm chipset and hoping that it would be a quadcore beast. Well after some gut checking reading it seems that that is very unlikely in the near future as the only S4 quadcore based chip they announced "officially" was the APQ8064 which is geared toward tablets and mobile computing as it doesn't have the modem basebands the MSM chips have. Looks like most we will see is the MSM8960 S4 chip which is the dualcore one but still has the LTE modem built in the die which is a big difference with the Qualcomm S4 chips compared to the other makers currently as Qualcomm is the only one doing that now. Integrating all modems in one chip is a big advantage. imho Now one thing I am curious about is that with the modem being built in the die, will that allow them to update the modem and adjust/change the freq it is allowed to get signals from via regular OTA updates? My initial impression would be no, but I am still interested to see the first Sprint LTE S4 based phone to pass through the FCC as I would assume they would go ahead and get the device provisioned for ALL LTE freq they plan on using since its already set out. Otherwise they would have to resubmit the device later to the FCC to get it re-provisioned and thats costly/unlikely to happen. Really just want the device to support all bands LTE out of the gate, b/c otherwise I will have to get a new one in a year and since Sprint tossed the Premier program out the door thats not likely for me anymore... Some S4 articles. The first is actually solid article with the later one being more speculation b/c they mention an MSM8964 which hasn't been mentioned by Qualcomm to my knowledge... http://www.anandtech.com/show/5118/qualcomm-announces-a-bunch-of-krait-based-snapdragon-s4-socs http://newmobiletechnologies.com/qualcomm-roadmap-2012.html/ personally I hear too many signal related issues with Samsung devices to even go that route, esp the Nexus ones, and never been a fan of anything LG phone wise. Moto is obviously out of the question as they stick with VZ mostly but they also lock their phones up tighter than anyone else and that crosses them off for me.
  21. 3.0 was a big step Sense wise imho and really took it to the next level with the lock screen and such. Put it on a phone that can fully handle it and it is great. Love it on my 3D here! The only thing im not going to like is the app drawer on ICS. swyping right to left to go through app pages and then once you get to the end it gets you to your widget's is going to be a pita imho. I'd rather it be the normal app drawer(up-down swyping) and then just have right to left swyping send you directly to your widgets.
  22. what phone? with the 3D most was removable stock. I remember they made a point in one of their presentations i saw where they wanted to limit the amount of bloat and make most removable.
  23. yeah didn't take it that way at all man. no worries. I'm just used to people complaining and wanting to switch over without knowing what they were getting is all. to be honest I'm lucky I have wifi everywhere I go and need data otherwise I would be calling in every week to get stuff done hopefully. I was upset enough over losing the Premier program when they made that decision as I like my yearly upgrades...
  24. Least Sprint lets you remove them or most of them unlike the big red company.... Also Sense 3.x is great imho. love the lockscreen changes they added to it as it makes the phone real easy to use. I agree Sense added to the android experience as their widgets were usualy better and also their app's like contacts, messages, and such i prefered to vanilla android's. BUT with ICS google has added in a ton of Sensish stuff like the new lockscreen and such so its clear manufacturers are going to have to go to greater lengths to be different if they still want to keep their skins/overlays. Also with Sense 3.0 and the HTC Hub getting complete skins is so easy, just wish there were more. (obviously speaking in the case for non-rooted devices there as if your rooted you can do as you wish with it) The new Sense that I have seen and messed with very little has grown on me some to be honest. At first I hated it the launcher bar(Rosie) looked horrible compared to past Sense ones but that has grown on me lately after looking at it more. The one thing that completely gets to me still though is that they STILL are using the SAME icons/images for the whole status bar as they were back with the original Sense!! WTF HTC?!?! mean to say that from Android 1.5 all the way to 4.0 you NEVER felt the need to change those boring icons? If they did that alone it would make a big difference visually imho.
