  1. Been with them since Nextel days back in 2000... Bring me back my Premier Program! Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk
  2. Yeah the second link is where all the other blogs are getting their "story" from on the chip. lol Yeah though it would be nice to see Qualcomm at least announce a quadcore MSM chip. so far all i have seen is the APQ8064 which has no modems and geared to tablets...
  3. yeah all the stuff written about the S4 is from the link in the thread I linked to. Anand Tech did an amazing write up on the chipset. 4 pages long and very indepth.
  4. Not likely as it is a GSM device according to the specs. Wanna say I read its not even US bound. But if it does come US itll be TMobile/ATT that get the thing first. Honestly I want nothing to do with the thing since its running a terga3. Snapdragon S4 chip based phone for me is all I am accepting for my next phone. Love Nvidia stuff for my computers but Qualcomm has me sold big time... http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/235-qualcomm-s4-benchmarked/
  5. http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/21/qualcomm-krait-s4-soc-fully-benchmarked/ And then much much much more detail here: http://www.anandtech.com/show/5559/qualcomm-snapdragon-s4-krait-performance-preview-msm8960-adreno-225-benchmarks On the 2nd link be sure to read it ALL. There are links at the bottom of each page to move you further on in the write up. 4 pages total. Ton of info there in that 2nd one! cant wait!!! BTW. I figured this belonged in the devices section...if you want it moved to the "everything else" section feel free to do so there. Just thought b/c device related it'd go here.
  6. One your not going to see new devices that are not LTE. And well we have no live LTE markets officially so that's one reason for no new ones now. Least let them have more than 1 market live with LTE before releasing devices. The fact that they announced some at CES was interesting non the less as they don't usually do that. So you know they are coming. Also, we have MWC here starting this week 2/26. Though sprint usually doesn't do much if any there It's a venue for announcements. Lastly recent history shows Sprint using CTIA as a place to announce new high end devices so keep eye on this date, 5/8 as that's the events start day. Sprint used this to unveil the last 2 EVOs. The only thing that is different this year is that it seems the CTIA conference this year is a month later as opposed to the past 2 years which were held in end of March both times... 7. "...clear has more bargaining power with sprint..." Just found that funny. Love to hear the discussions between clear and sprint... Clear: look your going to pay us X amount for X years... Sprint: Haha we own majority stake in u. We will pay you 0.5X and do so for as long as we like...do you really want to fight with us? Lol Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk
  8. This is nice but I think this is not really what the hold up is for LTE on sprint devices. I may be wrong but i think the MDM series of chips is what they currently use for their LTE phones on Verizon like the thunderbolt. That device has both an MDM8655 processor chip and also an MDM9600 modem. The S4 MSM chipsets include the modem built in the die so there is no need for an MDM set the way I read things. I took the write up when they stated android as saying the MDM would work fine with android tablets...like this is geared for data devices and not cell. Using the MDM chip negates the improvement with the S4chips having the modems built in the die so I don't see why they would use them honestly. Less they are going to use the quadcore APQ8064 chip with the new MDM gobi modem... But after reading some it seems these are being ment to be paired with the new RF IC WTR1605 and PM8018 power management IC... I could be missing something here but that's my take on it... 9. Yeah that's something I'd be interested in knowing. Would think that by now they could find a way to adjust carrier width VIA software to tower no? Like deploy it full for total spectrum bc clear is only using that for LTE now, and then control the amount actually used VIA software. Obv I have no idea just thinking hypothetical here. Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk
  10. Is increasing channel width something that req visit to towers or is that something that could be controlled completely remotely? JW incase say they want to go to 30MHz in future is that not just something they could adjust remotely since towers would have LTE hardware, or is the channel width's something that is controlled via hardware at the tower specifically?
  11. So with that said Clear deploying LTE at 20MHz is still technically on hold till the FCC approves it?...
  12. Yeah...sorry too many dates for all different completions LOL...think.its that they plan to be done with iDen by sometime in 2013. I was wrong obv. Lol Still say they will make big mistake to not have phones provisioned for all 3 freq. I can see the first 3 they have announced not having all 3 maybe but ones after that should have them all. Least based on their previous well planned efforts to have phones approved for 800MHz spectrum over a yr before even possible to be used... Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk
  13. Not if clear is making LTE live next June... That'll be way before they can do lte on 800MHz as I thought Nextel subs had till 2015 or so to migrate to the new ptt phones?? Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk
  14. Just to semi vent. I find it comical to run a few speed tests at 9:45am, and then do the same tests and same group of different servers an hour later and see that my ping's have gone from 160-300ms all the way to 1200ms and DL speeds are 500kbps lower to 26-100kbps. lol The amount of ppl that get up and going in that period of time and start crushing my tower must be insane. haha
  15. If clear is going to have lte by next yr in spots I'd imagine Wed likely see the 2.5 provisioned before the 800 if they left one out just bc the 800 won't be used for longer period time for LTE... Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk
  16. yup this is my worry as well though b/c when they had their thing set on the docket of the FCC meeting it was scratched last min and after emailing the current media relation person at the FCC back and forth thats when he linked to me the first FCC document in my post saying that was the result. BUT in that document it said they adopted it but were still were seeking more comment on it....and haven't herd much else since... With all the talk of running it on 20MHz i had completely forgotten about this whole thing till i was cleaning out my inbox over at xda and ran across a few PM's about NV and do-advanced SVDO and all that...the good times trying to explain how EVDORevB was likely not coming and how it shouldn't matter really anyway once its all said and done, and how just 800MHz provision for our evo3d does not mean it will do voice/data same time on cdma network. lol chat enough with a guy that works for qualcomm and you'll learn a ton. lol
  17. I was running through my inbox on another forum and came across a discussion that brought up some LTE Clearwire stuff I had completely forgotten about.... I remember last year there was discussion about Clearwire wanting the FCC to allow them to increase the LTE channel width from 5.5MHz to 20MHz from the FCC. They ran tests long long long ago at 20MHz and were hitting 80Mbps, though only ones on tower... I also remember reading this FCC doc which seemed that the FCC adopted Clears proposal, but they are seeking more comment on the affect of widening the channels... http://www.fcc.gov/document/amendment-parts-1-21-73-74-and-101-commissions-rules-facilitate-provision-fixed-and-mobil-0 Another lil doc I found somewhat interesting but dont know if it relates much... http://apps.fcc.gov/ecfs/comment/view?id=6016883156 now this could very well all of gotten solved and could not be worth even mentioning but It got me thinking when I came across this old info again as I never herd a final outcome and such. Just thought I'd see if anyone had gotten any info on this since we are talking of Clear using X MHz of channel bandwidth for LTE already...
  18. all S4 based devices have the LTE modem built directly on the die of the chip so its not a matter of design from a chip/modem aspect. Its more just them being provisioned to work on those freq. The EVO3D was designed to work on the 800MHz freq for CDMA when that rolls out and that phone was released a good year at least before that would be even an option.
  19. http://phandroid.com/2012/02/16/google-files-patent-for-new-lockscreen-method-finds-work-around-for-apples-slide-to-unlock/ http://phandroid.com/2012/02/17/google-also-files-for-patent-on-notification-pull-down-bar-yeah-back-in-09-fun-facts/ found these interesting to say the least...
  20. /begin sarcasm/ Look they didn't give me a car so I'm hitch hiking from tower to tower here carrying all these cards installing one by one. If they just gave me a car I could get this done quicker.../end sarcasm/ Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk
  21. read over at the xda-developers forum Transformer Prime section. they had some serious build probs to begin with but seem most now are better. With that said though, If your interested in some cheaper ones, Asus has a 7in coming to market that is supposed to be real cheap compared to the rest of the tablet world so far. Forget the model # for it but it was announced at CES. Also Asus has another tablet coming out with a tad different/better specs than the Prime later this year as well. Model was TF700T i think and it was basically an HD version of the Transformer Prime and also had front facing camera. Supposed to be released around 2nd qtr this yr i think. Just glad your not interested in iPad. lol
  22. saw this earlier..... honestly dont buy it at all. Google can't be that dumb to create fragmentation again after saying ICS was going to solve the whole big issue that everyone was complaining about with Android to begin with. Just doesn't make sense from a business aspect at all.
  23. What you'll have to watch out for is apps installed and what permissions they are granted access too. Esp if you are rooted.
  24. Okay, thats the one part I didn't know if it was allowed or would work. If they put WiMax and LTE on same Freq just using different blocks of their HUGE spectrum. But now I wanna say I remember reading them doing trials/testing showing WiMax/LTE can work together just fine about a year ago, so that makes sense. So with that said, I'd expect the new LTE phones(NOT the Nexus, hotspot, or the LG one) to hopefully be provisioned to use the 2.5GHz LTE since it will be up in a years time from their launch. Just like the EVO3D provisioned to use 800MHz for CDMA when that was well over a year away from being rolled out...
