  1. OK, so it was a cache problem.  Now working.  So here is update...

Some new markets that have shown up in last couple weeks..

    Cleveland

    Columbus

    Cincy

    Omaha

    SLC

Some markets over 1M with nothing showing up (on Sensorly)...

    Phoenix/Tucson

    Albuquerque/Sante Fe

    Upstate NY metros

    Portland, ME

I have a thread in the sponsor forum showing lte by metro size.

    Ill update it this weekend.

Big change recently was additions to nebraska as well.

Phoenix and Riverside are the two biggest metros with zero LTE.

  2. Network reselection improves over time, as does site density. Heck, even LTE network reselection is still wonky at times. And WiMAX network reselection on the highway in better markets was decent a few years ago. Unfortunately for you, Fresno did/does not qualify.

Fresno has one tower, but Im talking about LA where every tower handoff caused the data connection to drop for a few seconds. Made streaming radio, for example, not worthwhile, and other activities a pain, such as looking up details of the destination.

  3. WiMAX is fast in hawaii maui

faster than verizon Lte and at&t lte

And it will only get faster as people move to LTE.

According to the list, some areas wont see their NV finished until 2015.... I think it would be best to keep wimax until then.

And remember, its not just Sprint. Dont virgin and Boost use wimax? I believe all three companies are still selling wimax devices.

Personally, Im more than happy with wimax speeds, but Im ready to dump my phone.

  4. Yeah but that's different. All the voice calls are connected over 1x, which is totally different from WiMAX.

The only reason I say that is because normally, CDMA 1x has the best sound quality, and in my personal experience, the only time there was an issue was when I was in a poor coverage area, or the hardware was defective.

Right, but as I noted data speeds were poor too, on 3G, but fine on 4G. So at least half my phone is working!

I think its something with the tower. And yes, Ive had much better voice on sprint than I ever did when I was on AT&t. That being said, I still want HD

  5. Really? I wonder if it was a local issue. I've used every phone under the sun, and have yet to come across that issue, unless I was in a low signal area (-110dB 1x)

I was home, and supposedly, the tower a block away is now NV-ready, and has been for three weeks. Sadly, the 3G speeds are still under 300kb, and the voice call I made seriously sounds like an AM country radio station as youre climbing a mountain - static, distortion and muffled sound.

    Signal was -81.

  6. Can anyone here look at specific site info? I have a few sites that are just in standstill and was wondering if anyone has the ability to see what report was last on that site. Two have been in "In Progress" for about 4 months and the other one looks to have been updated but still sitting at red on the map. I know that the backhaul is right next to it just cant tell if its hooked in or not.

The site near my dads house has been in progress for about a year now.

What does Obama have to do with this? Please don't bring politics into the discussion, it just won't turn well.

The feds have to approve it. You cant pretend thats not a political issue. I want the feds to say no.

Maybe Sprint should take a page from Dish's play book and overbid ATT by 10-15% just to force ATT to spend more money lol.

    I like it.

  8. outsourced /= corporate employee

while I agree that the retail channel may have folks with existing contracts, it would probably in their best interest to sign up for an employee plan if possible.

Right, by being outsourced theyre not employees, but they represent sprint, and your subscriber fees end up in their pockets.... So Id think for the purpose of this thread, its fair to say that there are many sprint employees not using sprint.

And even then, if you get hired at Sprint HQ, youre not about to dump your old phone if theres 15 months left in your contract and youre on a legacy family plan that gives you great rates.

  9. I think any employee using another carrier's service needs to get their head examined, especially with the options available for them.

No, not really. You do understand that many people are locked into contracts, or prefer to be in a familly plan right?

Id say a minority of the employees of the people you speak to at the call centers have Sprint, especially since most are outsourced.

Someone please correct me if Im wrong, but I recall those employees only getting a 9% discount off plans....which is actually one of the lowest corporate discount rates. If they have a family member getting, say, 20% off elsewhere, why not be part of that familly plan?

  10. Are they really going to roll out 4G in Fresno in a couple of months?

Will they make the Samsung 32GB Galaxy4 available?

Even if they roll out 4G, will be stuck with a great signal but no ability to ping well/download well?

    1) It will START in the next couple of months. Dont expect them to finish until next summer at the earliest. Possibly into 2015. Hopefully shaver gets 800mhz, although it really needs a second tower. Huntington has no Verizon service either which means no roaming :(

    2) Probably not

    3) That shouldnt be the case, but to be honest the experience Ive had in NV markets that are well on there way (LA, NYC) has not been amazing. They keep saying wait till its done, but I guess only the Chicago people can speak on that subject.

    4) Bonus! Both Verizon and Sprint operate call centers in Fresno.

  11. Very interesting thread and it's amusing to see the panic of many.  Sprint has not typically forced people to move to new plans for some time after removing old plans and I'm not sure why many assume it will be different this time.

I am cocnerned because the plans seem to be a direct response to the verizon/at&t share everything plans. They even copied the way the discounts work

Unsure of at&t, but verizon was very agressive at eliminating old unlimited plans by forcing a change with a subsizided upgrade. That being said, their old non-unlimited plans are still around for existing customers. In fact, some people are floating around with 15 minute a month plans, or north dakoa only plans etc

I dont want sprint to mimick verizon in any shape or form.

  12. the plans do not appear to be forced at all.  although it remains to be seen if these plans will replace the current ones on the website or if they will be listed along side.  the fine print also shows other plans may receive bandwidth priority over these new plans which seems to mean that other plans will be available to sign up for besides these.

Im on wait and see right now. If these plans arent forced, then I have no problem, unless this "priority" thing becomes an issue. It would be quite the slap in the face to tell a customer whose dealt with sub-par data speeds for year that they've been sent to the back of the data-speed line.

  13. Going only by the one sheet everybody has posted on, the only reference to "non discountable" was the "My All In" plan.  That's the plan that gave you everything including the 5gb of hotspot data.  Then there was the bullet that said discounts applied to data packages now.  We need some clarification to be sure, but it looked like maybe the discount now applied to data too. Though I imagine that they will keep it to the primary line only.  Like I said, lots of clarification is still needed.

What verizon did was secretly screw people over with discounts when they went to share, because only the base was discounted, the rest wasnt. Naturally, all the online calculator tools and reps conveniently ignored this fact

Id wager sprint is following verizons lead in the secretly screw people over category.

I got 6 people to switch to sprint, including myself. If these plans are forced, and prices go up, I have no problem jumping ship and taking friends and family with me.

  14. With all the changes recently, Im not quite sure if this is a consumer savings or not....but it sounds good. It looks like the $10 a month highway-robbery "protection" fee turns into a speedy upgrade AND protection fee.

As CEO John Legere put it -- it can stand for either "Just Upgrade My Phone" or "John Upgrade My Phone." Also included in the $10 (per phone, plus applicable taxes and other fees) a month deal is a total protection plan that helps out with malfunctions, damage, thefts and loss of handsets. Those interested are able to enroll as soon as six months after joining up. After that time, subscribers can trade in a working, eligible phone to a T-Mobile store. Equipment Installment Program fees will be eliminated, and they'll be able to buy a new phone for a new customer upfront price.

Slap in the face to verizon and at&t which extended upgrades to 24 months....which Im sure Sprint has been thinking about.

  15. If I am forced to switch to the new plan, I'd switch my family to Tmo prepaid and I'd keep one Sprint phone for rural usage.  I'm not paying $100 more per month on Sprint for 4 lines on the new plan, just for unlimited voice (which I don't use).  However, there is no need to feel the sky is falling.  These are additional plans, not required plans.  It may come to that one day.  But we're not there yet.

    Robert

I feel the exact same way.

And considering youre essentially Mr Sprint.....thats not good news. This looks exactly like the verizon share everything price hike, minus the data limit.

Especially with todays big tmobile news.
