  1. I think that's exactly right - this is too good a deal for the long term to pass up. Sprint is undervalued and the the opportunity to get in on the US market doesn't happen every day. I think they recognize, once again, that in the mid to long term Sprint is an excellent investment and that they can really shake things up. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Xparent ICS Blue Tapatalk 2

  3. Remember that pronunciation in Japanese varies, among other things, on gender... a woman might say "Sofutobanku" pronouncing everything, but chances are a guy is going to elide those "u"s - the short "o" sounding like uh in English phonetics.
  4. Sprint does seem to be out to make a LightSquared like deal - in my opinion that would be a highly preferible alternative to that spectrum being sold to one of the big three. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Xparent ICS Blue Tapatalk 2

  6. I think you'll see a lot more people becoming more skeptical as they learn more about LTE. From what I see of the technical specifications of LTE, it looks like it was designed to avoid issues that are common in dense urban areas (issues like multipath), e.g. Europe and Asian large metros, not for wide coverage which is much more of a concern in the US. CDMA has been and continues to be a pretty exemplary voice technology, and it's going to be tough to replace it with LTE and maintain the same coverage... If VoLTE really does end up being the replacement for CDMA voice, the only solution I can see is increasing tower density or just accepting diminished rural coverage. Was there any technology based on CDMA that was competing with LTE at any point that would have given superior,CDMA like coverage along with similar data speeds as LTE? 7. Do you have any idea what the LTE 800 FIT is going to be? Is it Waco again?
  8. And to think I was tossing and turning over whether to get to the Evo LTE or the S3... The original Evo was so good that I thought the LTE version would be awesome, but I went with the S3 for the doubled RAM and developer support since so many people have it. I'm really glad I did seeing as the Evo LTE seems to be really badly affected by radio problems. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Xparent ICS Blue Tapatalk 2
  9. Sprint should be careful if they don't want to end up with mad customers that feel betrayed and end up leaving. With T-Mobile's network modernization plan they might end up becoming the new Sprint with Sprint moving into more of an AT&T level position. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Xparent ICS Blue Tapatalk 2

  12. They claim it's because their dynamic antennas are configured to boost signal as opposed to simultaneously send/receive different data and voice? I don't totally get that but that's what they say. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Xparent ICS Blue Tapatalk 2
  13. Hey Richard, how often do you usually update the completed sites map? Once a month?
  14. A related question for you all is... if the iPhone 5 from Sprint does use a nano-SIM, will it store both the CDMA and LTE information, i.e., can we maybe expect Sprint to start releasing phones that have user-accessible SIM cards?
  15. Very cool, thank you for that information. I wonder am wondering if the LTE roaming deal is going to be a nationwide thing... Also, as far as I know, this is the first LTE roaming deal made in the US, right? I am curious as to whether or not MetroPCS is going to be next to sign a roaming deal of some sort - I believe MetroPCS has LTE on the PCS band along with AWS.
  16. Oh, alright, I just wanted to also say why they're refarming. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Xparent ICS Blue Tapatalk 2
  17. I have access to a T-Mobile HSPA phone I carry around just for fun, and I highly recommend you buy a cheap T-Mobile SIM card and activate it on one of their contract free Monthly4G plans, just to try out their coverage. Sure, if you have solid HSPA+ coverage wherever you are, it's okay, but even in major metros, at least in California, I drop back to EDGE all the time, and EDGE is essentially 2G, equivalent to 1X on Sprint I believe, and it's useless, it is terribly frustrating. In building coverage also seems really really touchy. Definitely try before you buy. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Xparent ICS Blue Tapatalk 2
  18. I live in the Bay Area and their HSPA+ coverage seems only slightly better than Sprint's Wimax, and ditto for building penetration. Is that thanks to the 2100mhz part of AWS, or just bad network management? Sent from my SPH-L710 using Xparent ICS Blue Tapatalk 2
  19. Wasn't a quote, if it sounded like one. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Xparent ICS Blue Tapatalk 2
  20. They currently have their HSPA+ in AWS spectrum, they're refarming it to their 1900mhz spectrum to allow the use of the iPhone and many other devices, but primarily to free up their AWS spectrum for their impending LTE launch. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Xparent ICS Blue Tapatalk 2
  21. That is exactly what I mean about the iPhone - there is one iPhone and one (essentially) iOS and these are the things you can do with it, etc. I really dislike it for that reason, I don't like the one size fits all design strategy of the whole thing, and it's why I really like Android, I'm a tinkerer, it's just, for a long time for people like my Mom there was no hope with her and Android, for example. It's much better now though. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Xparent ICS Blue Tapatalk 2
  22. But for a long time with almost every other product it wasn't true that it just worked. There's one iPhone and there's iOS and it just kind of 'IS.' Sent from my SPH-L710 using Xparent ICS Blue Tapatalk 2
  23. Out of curiosity, what does the backhaul situation look like in the SF Bay Area/South Bay. Is there any significance to eHRPD popping up almost ubiquitously after those sites on Apple's campus came online, and are those likely not indicative of any kind of market progress? Sent from my SPH-L710 using Xparent ICS Blue Tapatalk 2
  24. That's the point of iOS and the iPhone and why it's so successful: it just WORKS, it does what you want it to do.
