  1. So, if VOLTE is somewhat unreliable yet, why rush into it? Yes, work on it, but there is no real need to make people use it. Yes, set up magic boxes, small cells, mini-macros and LTE roaming. Get that all in place. But do not force VOLTE onto the public before it gives the same coverage as 800 CDMA 1X. The average user does not realize how many of their voice calls are on 800. I see it often and I suspect an attempt might be being made to force voice users onto that channel to free up 1900 for LTE.
  2. I do not see the need for a "rush" into VOLTE by Sprint. Being first is not always good. Allow the others to have all the headaches and expense. Once it is bug free, buy the equipment or software and have a launch.
  3. Unless they fixed it in the last couple of weeks, your experience is not going to be good, especially at the south end of the strip. You can find pockets of decent service, but overall, it was not good. Some places it actually was horrible. Give us a report after you complete your visit. I have no idea why they can not seem to fix this. It is a well established static issue that somebody needs to quit peeing around and fix.
  4. You may be correct that it will never happen, but there is a possibility or several strange things happening. This sure is a strange thing that has never happened but it may be a way to combine the spectrum and have a kick axx network. Loads of capacity with less capex and miscellaneous expense. Shake hands and combine efforts all around to compete against the big 2. Several other strange things that could happen might be even worse.
  5. I am beginning to think that Sprint & T-Mobile should not officially merge and have to give up spectrum. But, could they just agree to treat each others LTE networks as native. Start off with that and then decide what the next step may be. One company build out in one state, the other company build out in another state. No need for both to be constructing in every corner. Share what they now have and what they will have. I would imagine it might be a nightmare to figure out how to make this all work, but it is silly for both of them to be building more capacity right beside each other. If either one builds a cell site, equip it with the appropriate spectrum no matter who actually owns it. Yes, a nightmare to manage, but both companies would save billions in Capex and service costs. Share LTE networks and work with each other and not against each other. Could this idea work???
  6. I would guess that this is unlikely. They would probably only allow the magic box to connect to a standard Sprint Cell site. This could turn into a real circus if one magic box could latch onto another magic box. While I do not really know for sure, I have enough experience in this field to be nervous about any uncontrolled daisy chain.
  7. The magic box is not going to be of much value unless you can capture some B-41 from a local cell site. In my case, I do have B-41 outside at a decent level and speed, but it will not show up inside my home. My B-26 is congested. Band 25 is a little better most of the time but does get slow at times. In General, most of the neighborhood has no band 41 at all, but my home is slightly elevated, So that helps me some but not enough to bring Band 41 inside. I hope they call me so they can understand the situation. My residence can grab the b-41 when others in the area probably can not. If I can get the B-41 with a magic box, many neighbors will benefit. I would think that the magic box could grab a B-41 signal inside a window when my Galaxy S-7 can not quite hold onto it.
  8. We all may be better off if we get the latest magic box. Surely since they will be releasing this newer box, you would think they found something to add or improve.
  9. I have a different opinion. I think we want to know if it is a Mini Macro site or an full 8T8R. Maybe a better way to show it, but I like to see it. If you are trying to find a new site, knowing it is a mini makes the hunt a whole different process.
  10. Bloomberg's thoughts on a stock for stock deal involving Sprint & T-Mobile. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-06-05/in-t-mobile-sprint-talks-stock-deal-said-to-emerge-as-an-option
  11. Google "Sprint Moves Media account" to read the latest on a move from Publicis Shop to Horizon.
  12. Rule # 1 - Anytime a phone does not act the way it really should, power down and reboot from scratch. Rule # 2 - if it still ain't fixed, repeat rule # 1.
  13. Also, note that the fiber going north through Martinsburg, Wv & Hagerstown, Md also goes into many towns on its way to York, Pa and Harrisburg.
  14. Ditto on this. I had an S-5 that would not work long in the sun if the screen brightness was turned up. It is natural to have the brightness up so you can see the screen outside. The bright screen uses power and that equals heat.
  15. It is not really much Spectrum. 11.5mhz compared to Sprints 120 mhz or so on 2.5. Might not be worth anybody setting up to use that little bit of Spectrum. Might even be directional, like all download direction.
  16. I asked for one on the first or second day. The web page indicated I would get a phone call. So far, no call. I have B-41 outside my home, but not inside the home. All my nearby Neighbors have the same situation.
  17. This site is about Sprint Cell phones and LTE. The costs of the site are quite high. It is funded by contributions of its members. If you want to talk about things other than Sprint 4G rollout, maybe you should be the biggest contributor to the site. I bet you ain't.
  18. YES, Inappropriate waste of bandwidth on S4GRU.
  19. Best post of the day: You can't polish a turd, it is far more sensible to invest in not being a turd then trying to polish one.
  20. Yep, I had the same experience in March. Extremely bad speed and bad pings on the strip near Excalibur in particular. Even outside on the strip. Practically unusable. WHY?? Some other places too. WHY? Horrible. It ain't a moving target. Grab it and fix it.
  21. That really does not look bad. I would think that they could get approval for this type of install almost everywhere.
  22. Yes, VOLTE. Right now, if I were on VOLTE service, Driving toward my home, I would be on B-41. If I walk into my home, I would have to drop to band 25 or maybe band 26. Band 26 is already congested, so that might not be a good experience. I might be better if it dropped to band 25, but until that gets upgraded to wider channels, the extra voice traffic on it is not going to help with congestion there. I have a -109 level on Band 41 outside my home, but it will not penetrate my home especially at a level good enough to use VOLTE. Unfortunately, my cell site is at a location that causes the signal to go through my garage and then my kitchen before into gets to my living area. Several walls, kitchen cabinets, refrigerator, and tinted glass in the windows. To use VOLTE in my home, B-41 is not going to get it and the other two LTE bands are too congested to be effective. I was anti-VOLTE until this solution came along. I have ordered the "magic-box". Not sure if I am going to be approved for one. I am a perfect example of a home that has great CDMA voice service but would probably have crappy VOLTE service. I probably might have to use Wi-Fi calling and that is sure a downgrade from the great CDMA service I now have. My neighbors have the same issue. Millions of people in the country are going to have the issue. If they try to use VOLTE on band 26 with the congestion on the narrow channel, it is not going to be a good experience.
  23. Sounds like it may be a good idea to place this on a second floor if your home has one. It would probably grab a better B-41 signal from the cell site. Hopefully it would drop a strong signal down to the first floor. If you are trying to cover a basement, maybe a second floor might not be the best place.
  24. On a galaxy s-7, I can occasionally hold onto a 117 signal on band 41 but only in a idle condition. If I try to actually use the data, I will drop to band 25 or maybe band 26. At -115, I sometimes can hold on to an active data session, but it will be super slow and probably move to band 25 or 26. I do not have an S-8 to test, but I would hope that you would be able to hold and use the data connection at -115 or worse and actually have some decent speed.
