  1. Gonna hop into this market thread and start reading.  I will be doing a 6 week stint for work in Rochester in a few months.   :)

We will be glad to welcome you, Rochester is I think (minus all the crime and poverty) is a really nice city and area (including the Finger Lakes) to be in. Buffalo and Syracuse has their offerings too though not my pick. As for Sprint in Rochester its pretty good, just for now we are missing out on 800 (B25).

  2. I havent seen anything new in Rochester's market in a long time, hoping Spark will head to Canandaigua soon but no antennas have been put up yet. Must not be a priority here lol. Also I went to Geneseo, I am surprised Geneseo is still not GMO converted to LTE being a decently sized town with a pretty big college there. Oh well maybe soon we still start seening GMOs getting LTE this year.

  3. Yes it's network related... Not enough towers is the big issue. too many 1900 gaps around me so that's why I need every call on 800. There's even one spot I sometimes drop an 800 call. At that same spot there's a nice big tower with ATT/Big Red/TMO but not Sprint. If Sprint was at this site it would cover most of the gaps in the area. This area in Longs is way too busy to have bad coverage.

Longs is near Myrtle Beach area, I noticed this is a bit on the low priority with LTE even with AT&T, actually AT&T was the last of the big 4 to have offical LTE in that area. Big red VZW was first then T-Mobile, then Sprint. I will agree with you it would help Sprint if they were on MORE towers or buildings, EVEN 800 cant cover everything its just the way it is.

  4. When a cell co is willing to put up a tower in Nowheresville but Nowheresville likes their empty sky too much . . . I hope Nowheresville gets crushed.

ok.... Some people who live in RUAL areas choose to live in RUAL areas for a reason, they like nature and dont want to see steel in the air out their back door....

  5. I suspect your right on Verizon getting their way most of the time. But for what it's worth, the opposite does occasionally happen.

For instance, we have a local rural town that is (probably illegally) blocking Verizon, even though AT&T was allowed. - http://boycottverizonwexford.com

I read most of it, interesting at least. I am glad you agree with me that VZW seems to get their way. I just found out about VZW getting on the tower close to me the other day through a friend who goes to meetings for ordinances. The tower is already over crowded!! hell Cricket CDMA had to put their antennas on the side of the tower instead of on the top back a couple of years ago but now AT&T is taking them down soon. However the town wont let AT&T build a tower near the college for better coverage where the college already suffers coverage from all the carriers as it is (basically no coverage at all inside, I know this I went to college there lol).

  6. Kinda of odd timing I came across this topic and in the same night about CDMA carriers using more LTE then GSM. I am not happy about the recent article I found in the city I live in about Big red VZW going up on the tower right near me. The thing that makes me the most mad about this is that there was no problem getting VZW to go on the tower but when it was about AT&T getting new antennas and same with Sprint, recently T-mobile too. They (city and residents) had a fit about them being up there working on the antennas and so on being too noisy and complaining about too much radiation from the antennas being new more powerful equipment with add ons. But when it comes to VZW going to this site as a new site, new everything, no one had an issue with this at all. They are just starting this now, and all residents the went to this meeting said they only want VZW and they could care less about the others. So it really seems like VZW can ALWAYS get their way and I CAN'T STAND THAT!! (When businesses like that seem to try and come in all the sudden and try and take out the others. AT&T, Sprint and T-mobile have been at this site for years.... One of the main reasons this was brought up is because VZW said they need to be on this tower because of LTE when it was brought up in the meeting.

Anyways this may not be the best place to voice my anger at this but I still think its not right and it goes to show that the small ones like Sprint and maybe T-mobile (that dont have tons and tons of money to just put up antenna on towers everywhere) it hurts!!

  7. I understand, but it would time out and drop data, even if it's 3G, I shouldn't be losing the connection on a major interstate highway in a well-populated area. I've never had it happen with other Sprint phones. It's definitely an issue when you're traveling and the phone switches towers/data speeds.

Theres a LOT of non populated areas along I-90 I dont know where you got that information.... The worst areas ive seen is from the Leroy exit to Batavia and from Auburn to Syracuse near Weedsport/Montezuma refuge out that way is not all that great. Every phone ive had I have never lost signal on the thruway but data did stink back before NV, especally from Buffalo to Erie used to be 1X data.

  8. WOW FINALLY that one site on the I-90 (near Auburn Exit), FINALLY no longer "In Pregress" after over a year of "In Pregress" its finally 3G accepted, I have been by that tower before and theres not much on it, but that took for ever, lol Now if Sprint could at least get I-90, 81, 390, and 86 LTE along the Thruway and Highways that would be nice when traveling.   :tu:

  9. No.  Basically, third party online resources devoted to AT&T are nil.  For AT&T discussion, you will find only sub forums of general wireless discussion sites.  AT&T just does not generate the same user interest as does Sprint or T-Mobile.  People may use AT&T, but few seem to like AT&T.

    yup I would agree!!
