I'm so glad you made Legere be a butthead. So fitting.
LOL!!

Posted in the "catch all" thread already http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/6319-marcelo-claure-town-hall-meetings-new-family-share-pack-plan-unlimited-individual-plan-discussion-thread/?p=400396
Oh I see someone posted it before me, thank you for showing me that, sorry about that.

My topic got taken down and I was not notified by who ever took it down, so I guess I could put it here instead of making a new topic and getting it taken down again.... This just popped up on CNET http://www.cnet.com/news/sprint-ceo-t-mobile-in-for-a-rude-awakening-in-network-battle/#ftag=YHF65cbda0
Claure is ready, hope Legree is ready!!

I would like to see all interstate 90 covered with Lte i see none.they did turn on 1 tower in batavia on kinda spotty tho
A LOT of GMOs along the 90

It is my possibly incorrect understanding that most/all of the towers that have LTE now are already upgraded.
There are probably some towers in the outlying areas that need to be upgraded. I have noticed with my new phone that has a better LTE antenna that most of the city/main suburbs are mostly covered.
Everything in our market has been done with NV (3G), its been mentioned months and months ago here.

If it is a Virgin Mobile device that has already been activated at least once before, then it is not really a virgin mobile device -- if you know what I mean.
AJ
I always thought Boost and Virgin Mobile were not able to be activated on Post paid, same thing with Sprint Prepaid. lol Unless I missed something lol
-
I have a cheap little boost mobile 3g smartphone. I tried activating it on my sprint account, and it took it. Works fine too. When did they start doing this? I know when i first got it, sprint wouldnt let me activate it on postpaid
weird

Verizon is smart to keep expanding the network now through increasing density and adding spectrum. And they are in a position that they can "out plan" most of their competition for the future too.
AT&T has had to get very crafty to maximize the leverage of their position, which is significantly less advantageous than VZW. That's why AT&T is left with the nation's strongest LTE network message. Because they have been densifying and turning up their LTE radios to the max (a good and bad thing). No rest for the wicked!
Tmo is sitting good now. But it has the weakest spectrum position for the long term growth. That can change, of course. But that's the way it is now. We will see how they ended up with AWS-3 and how (or if) 600MHz goes. And Sprint's future begins and ends with Band 41, of course.
IT would be nice if Sprint had all there sites LTE but thats a long ways away it seems.

http://www.theverge.com/2015/1/29/7932653/fcc-changed-definition-broadband-25mbps
The FCC has changed the definition of broadband to 25 down and 3 up.
Thoughts?
Personally, I wish that they had put the minimum upload speed at 5.
Also, technically my 24/4 connection from Windstream is no longer broadband.
This will put Frontier out of business they cant even offer 25mps up in Rochester, NY (its HOME location!!) Maybe not out of business but they have low speeds. TWC is better off at least up here in the Rochester, NY area. We have Fiber but they only offer it to businesses here.

It could be used for redundancy. But the pings are out of sight, as you noted. It would be awful for a permanent backhaul solution. A daisy chain microwave solution is much better for remote sites.
But even for redundancy, if dozens of sites went offline at once, the amount of traffic suddenly going to a satellite would overwhelm it. For redundancy, it could only handle a site or two at a time going down (per zone) without losing performance overall.
I agree satellite is just not there, microwave would be ok for certain cases but not ideal your right!!
-
When Sprint sent the initial RFP to backhaul suppliers in 2011, it requested enough to cover 3 sectors with one 5MHz LTE carrier at each site, and be scalable up from there for additional 5MHz carriers and 20MHz TDD carriers in the future.
However, not all sites had nearby backhaul available where that could be done. So exceptions were made up front at many sites, with future fiber to be added where it would be scalable upon demand. Also, later in Network Vision, they increased the base amount significantly to be ready for Band 41 wideband carriers.
But with ~55,000 sites now, there are so many different scenarios. Each site is a uniquely different case with how much backhaul is currently supplied and how much more is needed. And how quickly they can get it there.
My best guess is that 50% of NV sites with LTE live will have easily upgradeable backhaul that can be activated in 30-45 days from the order.
lot of rural places fiber is no where available, would be nice here in NY state.... It might happen sooner then we think up here because our Governor in NY state wants everyone to have faster Internet.

Specifically wondering about the Galaxy S 6 and LG G4. Also wasn't there supposed to be a wall article on CCA/RRPP updates? Just wondering if you guys have heard anything that I've missed. Should be pretty close to that info coming out.
It would be nice

Unless you are Chicago you haven't. Sprint small cells only exist in fits until deployment which will not happen til summer.
Oh ok, then maybe I havent, I might be mistaking with another carrier (at&t has small cells out here). sorry for bad reporting.

I have seen one site with this
-
What Hspa level do these 3G sites supply?
Speeds?
-
IBEZ will be solved SOONER, rather than later.
Which is a good thing. I would have liked for SoftBank to join the fight, because EVERYONE knows that their roaming rates are going to be abysmal with Sprint customers traveling to Mexico.
Is this a raw deal? Your thoughts?
Via GigaOM:
https://gigaom.com/2015/01/26/att-to-buy-nextel-mexico-continuing-continental-expansion/
AT&T is GSM, Sprint is CDMA, different bands, different frequencies, different agreements between borders, etc.

Anyone been past one of these sites?
I know it means there's slow backhaul but does it mean there's Hspa 1900?
3G means 3G, you would see on T-mobiles site "4G" that would mean "HSPA+ 4G"

I mentioned that last month as well. while I have no intentions of leaving sprint. Its a bit frustrating to see the already active LTE towers keep getting faster with enhancements instead of the them expanding the LTE coverage. I drive to Eastview mall in Victor and can get LTE. I drive 1 mile east and im back to 3g. I have even asked sprint customer service multiple times when there coverage will be expanded. I have yet to get even a window time wise when it will happen where I live. It sucks having people with ATT, Verizon, and now TMobile all be able to pull up video's and download apps while my phone just keeps showing a loading screen. But the part that will keep me with sprint is the unlimited data I have on 4 phones. I cant give it up.
Its a free country if you want to switch do it...., but Sprint is doing improvements EVERY DAY, hang in there.
-
I know nobody wants to hear this but i have to say it..Im shocked at the new tmobile lte coverage maps. Its killing us sprint users here in western upstate ny.they wernt kidding that the 2g is going to lte...hats off to them.Great reward to there customer base.shocked
They didnt have to do as much "rip and replace" they were able to do what AT&T and Vzw did just add cards and (some sites ive seen) a new antenna.
Many new lte sites are GMO lte 1900
Some, I still have yet to see a lot of GMOs to to LTE yet.
-
I live south of Rochester, NY 4-6 ins (if that) we are supposed to get.
-
If only I could have lte all the time.
Spark is getting put up in more towers, give them time.

I personally know an Ericsson employee (Network Technician) he keeps everything running in my area from Johnson City, Kingsport, and Bristol to Atkins, VA roughly 200+ sites. He came from Sprint's network management team before Sprint handed network maintenance over to Ericsson. He has said nothing but good things about Sprint when it comes to their network especially Sprint's LTE network which will closely match Verizon's 700 LTE network once 800 has been completed fully and optimized according to him. He explained that Sprint's site density in their mature markets beat Verizon's due to Sprint's 1900 PCS spacing setup coupled with 800 being on the same 1900 sites will provide for dense LTE coverage.
good!!

So, wait, Sprint constantly screws up and would be out of business in two years, but if they bought T-Mobile they'd be the best company? Am I missing something or do those two points conflict?
- Trip
I read somewhere if Legree had his way he would ditch the Sprint name and make it T-mobile. I would have to look to see where I saw that.

Wow. What an eye opening conversation. This all recollected to the best of my abilities.
1. He works on Sprint, tmobile, and verizon towers.
2. He works for ericson
3. Sprint is deploying "6500 mhz service" i asked if he meant 2600 and he said no, that was already done.
4. Said it takes 6 months to a year for them to do a site survey when a company wants to add new equipment to a tower.
5. He go into the numbers that a rep for a particular company might be responsible for and tmobile reps can have up to 160 towers. he has 20.
6. Sprint constantly screws up and this guy will be surprised if theyre still around in 2 years.
7. He thought sprint should've bought tmobile and it wouldve been the best company.
8. In many areas where sprint has weak service due to poor tower density tough luck, it isnt going to get any better.
9. He said Att and Verizon dont even have to train their guys because as soon as a Sprint guy is trained he'll leave for another company.
10. Said he's eligible for retirement at the end of this year.
Obviously he was confused on a few of his points. But it was interesting still. Did seem to have decent knowledge of the site spacing issues and new tower construction snags.
I know someone personally who works specifically on cell phone towers, mainly Vzw though but he does occasionally work on some Sprint.... There are thousands of people across the United States that work on cell phone towers I mean its not THAT unheard of for someone on here to know someone or talk to someone (run into) that can tell us stuff. Just saying!!
