  1. VoLTE is Voice Over LTE.  So it cannot be over 3G by definition.  I think you may be confusing HD Voice with VoLTE.  HD Voice can be run over CDMA just fine.  LTE is not needed.

Your dead on right I was confused!!! My mistake, sorry about that! (Note to myself: :busted:  :hide: )

  2. The only usefulness to VoLTE in the a short term is to reduce the number of PCS 1x carriers to allow another PCS LTE carrier in some areas that may be just slightly short on spectrum to do another LTE carrier in PCS. But this is not a high priority.

Sprint is in a good position to ride out voice on CDMA for a long time. The big advantage of VoLTE in the log run will be able to have LTE Only devices which should make a play for full North American interoperability between providers easier to implement. Of course, the big disadvantage to VoLTE is coverage because of the more fragile airlink of LTE. CDMA on 800MHz will sure be tough to beat!

I could of sworn VoLTE is on 3G too? I have talked on the phone when I was just on a 3G only tower...

  3. You do occasionally come across a structure registered in their name.  They used to own some towers, as did Nextel, but most of those that would be useful to others have been sold to leasing companies.

Honestly I highly doubt it, If they are on a tower by themselves its a county tower with at least one county antenna or on a water tower, (at least around here).  The big two have more money to have there own towers, or at least that is my understanding whenI have talked to a guy I know really well at Sprint (on the tower technician side). Its not to say you will never find one registered with Sprint, but good luck.... However I have come across a "Sprint/Nextel" one back when they first merged BUT Nextel was First on the tower.

  4. Ya I was at Greece Ridge Mall (in the mall) and it was struggling to get past 4 down and 3 up, and yes I know MB is fine now, I still think come summer time its gonna get some straining, all the carriers do down there, even when I was there last summer. Unfortunately Rochester will see Spark well before MB.  Thats good news for us, but Rochester is not a major vacation place for tourists like MB does on a scale basis.

  5. Hi just want evreyone to know im down on vacation in myrtle sc.....right now the sprint 4g lte is so unbeleivable to fast....I mean it fasttttt

ya for NOW, wait until the REAL summer begins I have lots of relitives and friends that lives all along that area and it dont matter what carrier you got, it gets boggled down a lot, its hard to get spectrum down there....  Whats wrong with speeds we have here?  I get an average of 34.00 down and 9.45 up with most of the cell towers in the Rochester LTE towers, except the only place was when I was in Greece yesterday I was struggling to get past 5mps down and up.

  6. Out of all the carries Sprint has the best zoom level tool, T-mobile now that they ONLY show there 4G/3G in pink its awful there old maps were much better, At&t is not any better, and Vzw doesn't show you much of anything when you zoom in (I think they are the worst, alls they care to show you is "yes your covered" basically.

  7. I have to disagree the Sprint coverage maps around where I live is just about the same as the voice/data (3G) coverage as before.... We wont get 800 here for a while, the LTE coverage covers a little more but not much..  All of these cell phone companies coverage maps are awful I think.

  8. I wish I could post this video.....I dont know how to...softbank ceo basically says they need tmobile to make it work and much more....I really hope sprint can compete if they dont get tmobile....really interesting video..I will try to link it here

I saw that video too, we live (I personally think) a corrupt county right now, the FCC and other government/political related things are favored.  Thats all I have to say about that, since I dont like that stuff and is not appropriate for here but thats how I feel.

  9. It just looked a little weird, an LTE acceptance in the middle of nowhere.  :D Rochester, Syracuse, Binghamton, etc. were all untouched at the time.

After Dansville, Brockport was Chili or Gates (I forget which) and a couple suburbs, then Canandaigua, Newark, Palmyra, and Geneva, then we had the huge acceptances late January/early February.

  10. If you aren't due for an upgrade, and don't want a flagship, then wait for the LG Volt to come out. Since LG got it's Class 2 permissive changes approved at the FCC OET yesterday, I'm assuming release is imminent. See my article here about it.

Nice article, I talked to AJ the other day and I have not heard back from him he had something, I dont want to mention it here.  I like flagship devices but I was saying for now I could deal with anything better then the frustrating phone that I have.. lol....  I have seriously pondered using my 3D, but if I use WiMax it kills the battery even though I get full bars inside (the tower is less then a half mile from me) I prefer LTE though.

Honestly, you can pick up a brand-new Sprint LG G2 for about $300 on Swappa and/or eBay. It's a Sprint TriBand phone and is excellent in the RF dept. I am going to probably pick one up to go along with my iPhone 5, until the 6 comes out (which should be TriBand).

I will have to look at Swappa, eBay, I have gotten some of my ham radio equipment off there before, I have been skeptical of cell phones (I dont know why)

  11. I know I posted about phone help on here already, I got a couple of responses but I have not heard back, life is busy for all of us, so let me try it again for another round...  I am strictly an android guy... I am willing to try a cheaper phone then what I am used to, I usually got the flagship phones or close to it when I can...  I am having major issues with my EVO, its almost to the point I want to trow it! The screen starting freaking out even when simply try to press anything, then the touch screen is totally useless, so I have to do the "hold power button down" to force it to restart.  (this happens almost every time I try to use it and no that i am NOT exaggerating at all).  I have mentioned before I really liked the LG Optimus G which hardly anyone sells anymore and its newer then (for example Samsung II or my old phone the EVO 3D).  I hear mixed reviews about the Sprint Vital, the Victory LTE for being mid-range models....  I am not due for an upgrade until late summer.

  12. I'm starting to wonder why Sprint is taking so long to modify it's plans to cheaper pricing.

All the other three carriers have been making positive moves n the area of price and data. Sprint has introduced the framily plan with for most people with corporate discounts, it will raise their bills... Not lower them. Plus, the entry requirements are very strict... When other companies introduce plans, they are actually achievable without going through hoops.

I shouldn't be ready an article let today that basically laughed at Sprint's International plans while having something good to say about the other three. I hate that Sprint acts worse than Verizon and somehow we are supposed to promote them to our friends. Lastly, when I hear about network vision someone always brings up that in the future sprint may have tiers... Are you kidding me? Even in a couple years, B41 is not a complete network service, you need to have the triband to have a complete service.

Please get with it and act like an underdog and cut your prices. And heavensake, introduce better none unlimited plan and raise the price on unlimited (Reference t-mobile).

I think this belongs in the General topics..... Plus "I hate that Sprint acts worse..." sounds like its a rant..... Violating the rules herecI am pretty sure at least borderline...

  13. USCC is not that large. Acquisition would affect your general area and mine. But for most Sprint subs, it would be little different from Network Vision completion in some market on the other side of the country. They do not care because it does not help them.

    AJ

I would of thought Sprint would of liked to of bought the rest of them out seeing they got Chicago, but that probably just gave them more spectrum space they wanted because Sprint probably had enough towers in that area and was beneficial just for that area and buying up the rest of them in the future would not be worth it.

  14. nice!! Now when I go to see my friend in Oil City, PA theres 800 Voice, I was shocked to see that today in the map updates because I saw that was just a GMO no 800, change of plans must be, unless that no 800 means no LTE, lol....  I remember back when I visited him in June last year it was 1XRTT, he has VM and he was so happy to see an improvement to data!
