  1. I agree USC would be a good option for Sprint to buy and the FCC would most likely approve it since USC sold there home market in Chicago, IL already.  The Cricket Wireless (was first Leap Wireless) would of been another good one to buy out, even though Sprint covered all of the areas already BUt would of given them more spectrum, not by much, oh well At&t has it now. Same with Metro PCS now T-mobile has that.  Another really good one is N-Telos.  Just my opinion thats all.

  2. Yep, that's the public site. Doesn't show every site. Just ones that have received some sort of enhancement in the past six months. And Sprint doesn't provide details.

S4GRU sponsor maps are color coded and show exactly what kind of 3G/4G upgrades have occurred, and data about each site. Like Site ID numbers, switch locations, markets, etc. Also, our maps get updated every couple of days and show exactly what changed from the last update. Best for tracking Network Vision/LTE deployment.

I agree the public site is VERY generic, and its map is blah at best lol.  I love how you have yours color coded and all, its been very helpful ever since I have been a member of your awesome site!

  3. That is not the case.

It's the amount of spectrum used that affects capacity.

A 5x5 800MHz carrier has the same capacity as a 5x5 1900MHz carrier. The lower spectrum is usable slightly farther away from the site, and is better in-building, that's the difference.

People often mischaracterize why higher frequencies have more capacity. They don't have any more or less capacity per single megahertz.

The reason why people say that higher frequencies have more capacity, because it takes more sites to cover an area. More sites equals more capapcity.

    Awesome explanation guys!

  4. Think we might be able to just merge the two Connecticut threads for Northern and Southern?  We are such a small area that most people end up discussing both in each thread.  Just a suggestion for a mod to consider.

Even though I dont pay much attention to this area since I live in Western NY state, but I noticed this too.....

I think the 8T8R panels have been installed in Endicott @ Skye Island Drive. They do not function yet, however. Can't pick up B41, never have seen it.

The second rack down is Sprint, am I correct in thinking those are 8T8R B41?

Never thought our market was gonna see band 41, this is exciting.

I see all of thoese are now in Syracuse, we dont have them in Rochester yet.

  6. No one hates you for saying that, but there are still many using WiMAX devices. I still have Clear for a mobile hotspot for when I'm in Vegas or out and about in Visalia and trying to keep from using my data up.

I still have a Wimax device too actually but I never use it lol

  7. I am shocked that Robert just has not locked the whole WIMAX forums (even so no one can start a new topic....), its a dead technology and to be honest there not many people who care(other then who its getting decommissioned, which alls we know is 2015), don't hate me but I am just telling the truth!

  8. I really don't like the sprint maps. They're outdated compared to other sites and they are wayyyy overzealous. I live in the north towns of Niagara Falls and I can say that I do get LTE in the falls, Lewiston, and I can get spits of it in Youngstown. Very small spits of it. Their map indicates ALL of WNY as a deep orange. Most of that map should be light orange and even more purple. It's nice to see, but I don't like how misleading it is. Just my 2 cents.

Its better then big red Vz they just plainly show the deep red for LTE, they dont even give you STREET LEVEL and there maps are wrong too, because my friend goes to 3G in area where its "LTE".  AT&T is eh, T-mobile I honestly cant say anything about ive never had them and no one that I know has them even people up in Rochester or Buffalo or Syracuse (I know people in all areas friends, etc) and no one uses them.  Seems like most people I know that have T is NYC.
