  1. Have any of you seen the ONE review for the Nexus 5 on Sprint.com? The person gave it a 3 out of 5. 2 people found the review helpful while 29 found it unhelpful haha. The reviewer and 2 others don't know about S4GRU and the issues regarding tri-band while the other 29 are either programmers or S4GRU members!

I looked. To bad one cannot comment on reviews or else I would have

  2. We now have confirmation that the Nexus 5 is not slated to receive its Spark software update until early next year.  The Samsung and HTC handsets will receive their updates tomorrow.

    Aaaaargh

LG.  Sprint has a much closer relationship with Samsung and HTC.

So, Google carries no more weight with Sprint? They used to be so cozy back when they began gvoice integration.  Maybe there was some fallout related to Clearwire investments/non-investments.  I know the Nexus is made by LG, but Nexus should equal Google (or maybe not)

if that's the case then that's beautiful! I can't count how times I've had late messages and this looks like it would at least help with that

Best news I've heard all day really

  3. May take longer than we originally thought. Seems like the international version is no longer updating to 4.3 and the update may have been pulled due to various bugs and poor battery life. So sprint might be holding off too.

This may not be a bad thing.

  4. As the weather gets colder I am leaning more and more toward 5 months or more.  I don't think they do much in the winter.  Probably a bunch of southerners on the crews and anything below 32 means no working outside.

Honestly, I have been having a better time stuck on 3G during my commute than I was flip-flopping back and forth between really weak LTE that was about 0.5 Mbps and 3G when I had my Galaxy S3.  The time needed to hand off was really annoying.  I am hoping when it does go live the LTE will at least be more reliable once it does switch from 3G.

Perhaps the weather delay/loss will free up some crews for us non-four season areas. One man's loss is another's gain.  Either way, that means the crews can concentrate on areas where work is feasible and come back once it clears up with a beefier crew from the extra assists down south. hmmm

  5. Any spare SIM cards out there?

My local Sprint store didn't have any, ordered one online on Saturday, but they say backorder. No shipping ETA. :(

Guess I won't be activating tomorrow.

even though they are backordered, they come within 2 days.

I can send you the one I received from Jeremy this morning since I already received the backordered one and still await my phone

PM me with details and i will get it out to you in the morning

  6. I doubt phones with this much of a curvature are still 3-5 years away. I'm talking demand. So I don't see this coming to light. It's like Concept Cars Automakers come out with, just to say they did it once.

BTW my favorite Concept: 2002 Lincoln Continental Concept

I was always partial to the Cadillac Sixteen Concept Car from 2003?

  7. I just bit the bullet and ordered a 32GB black N5, shows the shipping date as 12/3 at the moment. Now I understand how my wife feels when she sees a pair of shoes and claims that she just HAS to have them...

    -Mike

I did the same, Hopefully we will see it sooner rather than later!

Also, I just tried getting a SIM through Sprint Chat, and was told that they cannot help and you need to go to a Store.  I let the agent know that the stores i went to did not have any in stock and suggested I speak with an online rep. Oh well, fingers crossed that they are in supply when i receive my device.

  8. Well just received my sim cards. 1 of them was supposed to go in my wife's Torque, one for my N5 and one extra for those folks that may not be able to get one. As it turns out Sprint will not allow the Worldwide UICC(sim) on the Torque and i must get the domestic sim for it. So....I will have 2 extra 3ff worldwide(N5 compatible) UICC sim cards so. If someone needs one let me know.

If the offer still stands, I wouldn't mind one of those bad boys, seems that we have a local shortage.

  9. that was easy..told them i need sim cards and they seem to know...i asked:

    Hi,

I need 2 UICC/SIM/ICCID cards for the Galaxy Nexus 5  32gb purchased through directly through Google Play Store. 2 lines on this account will be using this device but we need the card to activate.

Guess I will be ordering one or two as well

  10. T-Mobile did the same with the Nexus 4. BS imo.

What I wonder is, Sprint subsidizes ~$400 from the ~$600 devices (by offering them for ~$200). Why can't Sprint give the Nexus5 for $0 hence subsidizing $350 (Google Play Store cost). Or going by Sprint's own off-contract cost ($450), why dont they give the Nexus5 for $50 hence subsidizing ~$400 which is the same amount they do for other phones...?

Simple answer is because they can but I wonder if there's a more intricate reason?

I'm sure it has more to do with reviving their bottom line at this point.

I really wouldn't be so pissed paying full price if it was at least a 32gb device (seeing as we are already paying $50-$100 more anyway.

Now I just have to ask myself if I can live with constantly deleting photos/apps and clearing app/data cache to keep from filling up the paltry 16gb rom (11GB usable? Can anyone tell us)

  11. It appears that the Nexus 5 is now available for pre-order from Sprint.  I can't say that I am not a little disappointed (again.) :

Disappointment #1 : There is only a 16GB variety being offered for Sprint (Why do we keep getting  hamstrung?)

Disappointment # 2 : The price is more expensive than buying the device straight from Google.  This is really no surprise, It appears that Sprint has been charging at least $50 more per device than other carrier for a similar model.  Sprint's price is $449.99 for a 16GB version and no 32GB version.  Google sells the 16GB version for $349.99 and the 32GB for $399.99.

(possible) Disappointment #3 : Is it only Single Band LTE?

Do we have any Sprint insiders that can give us an idea of what the thought process behind these choices may be?  I know we have not done an Band/Device breakdown on the Nexus 5 for Sprint yet, but maybe AJ will want to create one.

I am haggling a CSR right now to get some info.

  12. Dont get annoyed at me for posting this but Best Buy has a tradein value of $200-210 the best I found and for the 503 prl where can I find that

$200 trade-in value for the note 2?  that is better than sprint's 90 bucks.
