  1. I didn't run into that, but that's because Sprint removed the option to use Google Voice when I updated to the Unlimited Freedom plan. They have been slowly pushing Google Voice out the door the last couple years unfortunately.

Why are they pushing that out of sprint

  2. IF the T-mobile/Sprint Merger fails (which I hope it does, but that's is just a personal opinion I am not really in favor of it), I would love to see Sprint buy the rest of USCC's remaining. I was super excited when Sprint got n telos (even though that was indirect from Shantel).

It will be interesting to see who acquires US cellular. But the executives at US cellular have to be willing to sell it.

One of these days one of the big 4 will end up buying USCC remaining footprint, kind of like when Sprint took over in Chicago. I'm not saying it will happen but it could, seems like regional carriers are getting less and less.

yeah it maybe sprint that buys it...it makes more logical sense to me.

  4. Obviously they are keeping up. They are even getting ahead. Because the network speeds are improving still.  If they weren't keeping up, it would be getting worse.
Some are exploiting Sprint's weaknesses to promote a combined entity.  I don't have a crystal ball, but neither do they. Sprint was supposed to go bankrupt 10x since Nextel. And ere they are. I'd argue they are in better shape and better run now than ever.
I'm not anti merger, necessarily. But I don't think Sprint will go under without it

If they can keep up with they are doing with their network then they definitely do not need a merger. Despite Sprint’s network problems over here I still do have some sentimental feelings towards their brand. I would hate to see their brand go away.

This is a truncated list. Sprint has 99 markets.   Washington is not the slowest. If the list continued and included other markets, you would see many more.  So where Washington is on this list is not very meaningful.  In fact, if the worst city is still pretty darn fast, I'd see it as a very good thing.

Though some reference Sprint gloom and doom and broken promises, Sprint does keep improving.  The service is better now than 2015, than 2013 and definitely better than 2011.  I'd like things to be faster, sure.  But it's fast enough in most instances.

I can definitely agree with you on that one...LTE service in my town has improved in many aspects like speed and availability. But sprint needs to keep up the improvements and with enough time they will have a solid network here.

Check this out from March 2017: https://dc.curbed.com/2017/3/21/15006154/population-density-dc-washington

    According to the infographic:

672,228 people live within Washington's 61 Square Miles. That gives it a population density of 11,020 persons per Square Mile.

The graphic compares its density to other cities, some of which are on the Press Release:

    Chicago

    Houston

    Los Angeles

I wonder if "Washington, DC" according to Sprint also includes surrounding areas in MD/VA.

why is washington dc sprints slowest market?

  7. I would think that it should automatically turn go on WiFi.

Actually have to keep the Wi-Fi turned on. But if you come within range of an Xfinity hotspot you should automatically connect to it.

  8. If you leave the Wi-Fi turned on your phone should automatically connect to a Xfinity hotspot. I just shut my Wi-Fi off when I leave and when I come back home i turn it back on And it automatically connects to an Xfinity hotspot. The phones should automatically do it. And data speeds are very respectable too. 0b54099eefd0a03d490af26a6239335c.png

  9. I wonder if Comcast is going to offload data onto its WiFi network and then stand and pole mounted small cells to where they only use Verizon for roaming outside their own network. Charter will definitely follow that model.

They use Verizon wireless as the cell phone provider for the network side and they use their own hotspot on their cable modems for access when you’re stationary.

A lot of them used to be here.  Remember the years of arguing with the people who'd freak out about every change to plans/limits, etc.?  Many of the worst churned and went to T-Mobile.  People that take more than their share ruin it for everyone.  In this case 5GB seems pretty darn reasonable to me.  Especially when you consider Sprint domestic roaming is limited to 100MB on most modern plans.

I definitely agree with you...5 gigs of roaming data is very generous . I hate seeing people freak out over something like that...5 gigs is better then no data at all in my opinion.

Love my LG V30 with one exception, the second screen. I really miss it and I don't like the floating toolbar thing. Other than that, it's a GREAT phone and I highly recommend it. Will also be using for signal tracking as 600mhz spreads out in Wyoming/Southeastern Montana as well as Western North and South Dakota. I am located in Rapid City, SD, so I am right at the front door.

keep us up to date ! i l lbe looking forward to it being deployed.

If they were to be able to merge... I see T-Mobile using much of their 1700 mHz, 1900 mHz and (Sprint's 1900) and 2100 mHz mid-band for LTE... but what will be used for voice, what will be used for LTE Data...etc... I think this would be a great time to rearrange and re-utilized what they will have for LTE and for VoLTE and well and regular voice.   Basically they will have a ton of Spectrum (think of it... they will have 600, 700, 800, 1700, 1900, 2100, and 2500 !  )  from very low "Beach front" to plenty of higher end (Sprint's 2500 mHz)...   They can do some serious  things!  It's exciting!!!   I don't see them wasting any time getting all the sprint customers on to thier versions of  GSM/LTE phones quickly and start re provisioning Sprint's  CDMA Network over and maybe getting rid of their GSM/ Edge etc...  ...   T-Mobile isn't known to drag it's feet...   but how do you see them redoing the network as a whole?

I see them shutting down CDMA all together and Shutting down All unnecessary cell sites. I also see HSPA getting totally shut down And going completely LTE only.
