When planning to close a coverage hole, network teams use a “search ring” methodology. Upon selecting a site that falls inside the ring, they will choose azimuths and mechanical downtilts that satisfy the coverage objective.
While softwares like Atoll and Planet (these are the two big ones) can provide very accurate propagation models, the models are only as good as the clutter data and clutter loss parameters (the DEM/DTM data is usually good enough to not worry about these days). For simulations (e.g. Monte-Carlo load simulations), you also need accurate traffic maps. As a result, some level of real-world testing is usually necessary to close out the electrical downtilts, exact RS ERPE per port, connection release/handoff parameters, etc.
After that, there’s a good bit of testing (call/integration/etc) that takes time too. On occasion, sites may also be delayed because they don’t have back haul or permanent power. This is more often the case in rural areas than urban/suburban areas.
Very good description. And hi guys it’s been quite a long time.Very good description. And hi guys it’s been quite a long time.

As a LG V20 owner (first Sprint phone with VoLTE in its FCC cert but never used), I am well aware that the Vo5G in the S21 may never be used (but their is always hope).
One can always hope of course. You never know it could happen.

Others have also tried this with their S21s. No luck yet on Vo5g.
Volte will be the back bone for phone calls and basic Data coverage for the foreseeable future. And 5G will be for now at least super fast coverage where it's available. So I don't see really any need for voice and data to be on 5G anytime soon.

That’s what they’re doing in Phoenix to all the sites that can handle all that equipment. I wonder what they are going to do with flagpole sites and the small cap assemblies they put on metal power transmission poles. Those are usually only B66 because they are so skinny. I guess we will see, awful lot of those here in the suburbs for aesthetic reasons.
The town I live in in a different state there was a flagpole site T-Mobile came in and modified the flagpole site and it works very well now has all the proper bands as well.

Yup. The site has both LTE and n71.
That's very good. I'm glad to see T-Mobile building out there coverage. I have T-Mobile they have tremendously improved their LTE coverage in my area along with fringe coverage performance. Hope to see more improvements.

They're still doing new builds in eastern NC. Just east of Greenville in Chocowinity there used to be no coverage but as recently as January a new site went live there. The T-Mobile coverage map still shows that there's almost no coverage there but if you drove by today you'd have full signal.
Are they doing a native LTE build out?

I asked them that question today on Twitter, and I was told the opposite.
The key word is essentially. That's the word they have on there. I haven't posted on this website in probably 6 years. Anyways I'm pretty sure they have some exemptions to the no deprioritization they advertise on their plan. I'm pretty sure they're going to have Network management being in effect to some extent.

Does anyone know why I wouldn't be able to roam on T-Mobile's network? I went to an area today where I usually lose Sprint coverage but roam on T-Mobile. But today, it gave me a message that the selected network, T-Mobile, was unavailable.
Is there some code I can put in to fix that?
No that's on the network side...

The squarish antenna on the left is the T-Mobile N41 antenna that I'm pretty sure is being deployed in Denver.
It's been a long time since I've posted here. In my market I think T-Mobile will definitely deactivate sprints Network very quickly because of the capacity constraints here. I think they want to get that band 41 spectrum up and running very quickly. In my market 600 megahertz is pretty much done being deployed.

From a pragmatic S4gru.com point of view, how will the actual forcing of people over in unconverted markets work with new phones? Will it just be with regular retail sales forced over? Perhaps buying a factory unlocked phone and activating it yourself would be a way around this, if you can get Sprint sims. (Also gets around dreaded Sprint leases and keeps your options open in terms of other carriers.)
Once a market is converted you can make a reasonable judgement on new T-Mobile service. Sprint service today is better than existing T-Mobile service for me. They key items missing are which sites will be converted, new sites, small cell plans, backhaul, new patterns for sites, and plan details.
N T-Mobile is pretty tight lipped on network details

Dan just trying to be nostalgic bro.
Thank you for saying that. Even though I was complaining here and there about their service. When I got out into the areas where they really did have service it was pretty good. I'm going to miss diving down into the MSL menus and turning off all sorts of carrier aggregation and bands just to mess with the phone.

By the way this is meant to be a tribute for Sprint. There's already a T-Mobile Sprint merger page. This is just a tribute page for Sprint for all the years of service they had. Even though the service wasn't really good here they were the first company I had a cell phone with and I love them for that.

Everywhere in a lot of places Sprint's network will be redundant and in many places sprints 5G Network will be shut down sooner than later. And then CDMA will be decommissioned. T-Mobile won't be keeping two networks running with two different technologies that would be a waste of money and synergies. The reason why this merger took place in the first place is that Sprint as a company was unfortunately floundering and T-Mobile was able to purchase the company and merge with them. They get a huge boost and customers and spectrum. T-Mobile isn't going to be using band 26 because it doesn't want it. Band 25 and band 41 will be used by T-Mobile.What? T-mobile has B71, they quite literally have no need for B26 once B71 is deployed everywhere. B26 is going to dish.
So I'll ask again... What are you suggesting is the 'sprint native' network that will be shut down?

Band 25 and band 41 will be used by T-Mobile. They are not going to show off the mid and high band spectrum they have.T-Mobile's going to have a huge amount of band 41 for capacity. Besides they all need band 26. They have a good amount of band 71 for a coverage.I'm confused. What are you suggesting is the 'sprint native' network? B25 and B41 will be transformed to tmobile - which I think will be mostly seamless to end users. B26 will eventually be used by Dish, but I'd think that before that is done, Tmobile customers (and those formerly known as Sprint customers) will have full unfettered access to Tmobile B71. So again, other than those people at the very limits of B26 coverage, I hope this will also go largely unnoticed.

Huh? The networks are merging, Sprint 41 (2500mhz) will become T-Mobile...
I m talking about sprints native network being shutdown

I thought it would be a fitting tribute to Sprint to establish a network shutdown page where people can report Sprint network service winding down. As much as I dislike them because of their inconsistent service here for the most part I loved them.

I'm going to miss the. From 2008 to 2010.I am going to miss the 1999-2004 Sprint before the Nextel merger. Not afterwards.

That's true very true. Everyone's opinion will obviously be different. But I'll take your word for it as well.it will depend on the merger results from a customer perspective.

Even though Sprint doesn't have the best coverage in my area. I do have lots of memories and nostalgia with the company. I wonder who else here will miss Sprint besides me?

I forced T-Mobile earlier in a notorious spot where no one has any service for the most part, no B71 from T-Mobile and on Sprint I was able to maintain 3G although pretty much useless. Thought B71 would have been rolled out here lol but things will improve I'm sure. Or B71 isn't enabled for roaming here yet.
Rip sprint 😭

AT&T fake 5G service
Found a couple more new sites that are live out by Taylorsville KY. Looks like rural expansion is definitely in progress. Before I barely had signal out at my aunts house. Looks like this site is LTE only. Sprint and T-Mobile are non-existent here, and Verizon/ Bluegrass is fringe B13 that's so overloaded its unusable.

Well T-Mobile would have to ink a new agreement with AT&T.If they refarmed UMTS/HSPA they would screw T-Mobile since T-Mo roams on ATT HSPA.

Over here ATT has 850 LTE and hspa active...its popping up through out NJ.They hold both in Orlando and couple other places.

Yes it’s good to be back. I’ve been on this website for nearly 7 years. And Sprint will live on through their spectrum.
