    LG V30

Watched a few hands on videos with the device today and am impressed by not just its appearance but with its camera software and audio centric focus as well. Then there's that headphone jack which, for my needs, is still a better fit.  If Google Play Edition models were still made then this would be the dream device I never owned!

Seems that now even LG Is doing away with some of the things everyone liked

Unfortunately the current release of Tapatalk is not working with the current release of IP Board that we are on.  It will supposedly be fixed on the next update of Tapatalk.  But we are still on the 8/17 release when I just checked a few mins ago.  It is out of our hands.

I had problems last week accessing the site. It said of 404 error not found. But it works now though. That was strange.

I don't believe that they have to densify even more. Just select the best sites and put 1900, AWS and 2.5 on all of them. Selectively add small cells to cover the 2.5 GHz gaps. Then selectively add low frequency spectrum to where it's needed (definitely to suburban, exurban and rural locales). Use 600, 700 and 800Mhz as preferred frequencies for VOLTE, as coverage layer and backup when no other band covers. Use the low frequency bands as an overlay not necessarily on every site.

Well my thing is you should put low band on every site. Because even with the higher and mid band spectrum You still need to add those extra layers and on every site in order to keep the other bands from getting overloaded. But I do understand your concept though.

IBEZ is getting worked out too.   We now have 800 mHz here in Detroit, which up till now was a no go!

To all those freaking out of possible price increases due to this merger,... what make you think that prices aren't going up regardless?  Did you think Free service for a year is maintainable financially?    Free unlimited Data at HD level?  Sustainable?  Verizon, T-Mobile and AT&T are already buffering speeds down to 480p or less...(unless you willing to pay more $$$)    You think Sprint isn't smelling this and  going to wait?   I doubt it.    I just can't image you guys are deep thinking this situation very well and your own personal greed is driving your fears. Get over it or take on a Mobile Mart prepay phone and ease your fears.   I whole-heartily agree with  Snake and others on here... Sprint's Network isn't the most dense or even complete.    They have the spectrum... they just don't have the ways and means (read $) to execute and put it to use.     And all the 2500 mHz is great, but it travels very short distances unless you densify the network using Macro and Mini's.

i m not surprised sprint is trying for a merger...but T-Mobile as well....they want sprints subscriber base and the extra PCS SMR and EBS and BRS Spectrum would give them a huge boost in spectrum...but then with all the extra subscribers they will need to densify even more..

Right. What someone else said and something I have yet to look more into, as I previously indicated.  Once I have time to hear more firsthand reports I'll be able to make a better informed decision which,  as I understand it, is one of the benefits of this forum.  Pure Google and timely updates are hugely important to me but not so much if I can't latch onto a band 41 signal (for example) as well as my pre-existing device (in this case a galaxy S7 Edge) . These considerations are more than worthy of attention.

I wouldn't call anything I said even coming remotely close to '"nodding in accordance" but you clearly have your perceptions and I definitely have mine. I have no intention of implying they should necessarily be congruous.

Yeah I preferred to have the most up-to-date network hardware on the phone. so it is future proof..I hate having a phone that has lousy reception or an out dated lte modem.

I agree - for a single line it' a great deal.

It’s a fantastic deal. But for a multi person plan I would not recommend Xfinity mobile.

Does using data while on xfinity wifi hotspots count against data?  Because that's free data usage if you're on another carrier but have xfinity for home broadband.

I also found out that there is no speed or data cap on the WiFi hotspot on the phone

I read that BYOD would start end of 2017 as well as Wi-Fi calling. I'm thinking I'm going to switch (to avoid being forced onto T-mobile) and try to bring my Sprint phone.

I get speeds in excess of 80 MB a second before I get throttled to 1.5 MB a second

hey by the way to answer your question.. i just popped my xfinity mobile sim chip into my verizon htc M9 and it actually works! i can make phone calls and everything!

Is it an iPhone that you’re trying to bring? Usually iPhones or more easily allowed on the MNVO carriers like this.  It does run off of Verizon wireless so we will have to see what happens. And if they can able both of those I would be ecstatic.

WiFi calling isn't a big deal to me. I do want a better phone selection than what' currently offered.

I totally agree with you on that. I save about $40 compared to T-Mobile and the coverage I get  actually much better. If you read the entire post it runs off of Verizon wireless 2G 3G and 4G LTE. I would highly recommend them once their selection gets better.

Nice. I might have to look into Xfinity once they allow byod. At my office there is an Xfinity Hotspot available so I'm good there. Their throttled speeds are fine because 1.5Mb/s is basically they same throttle for streaming video that all the carriers use for for non-hd video streaming.

The service was just launched back in April. So I don’t know when  they will allow BYOD . Is having Wi-Fi calling a big deal to you? And I have tested the hotspot and it works fine on my iPhone.

no it doesnt count against data at all. and when your off the Xfinity wifi hotspot if you have the unlimited data plan which i recommend the data speeds are great. but the only draw backs are that wifi calling isnt turned on yet. and after you pass the 20 gigabyte threshold they will throttle you to 1.5 MPBS.

Oh it will be very good for the companies because their Capex will be spread out over twice the number of customers. It might lead to increased prices but T-Mobile was starting to raise theirs. The 2016 situation of free iPhones and low plan prices was not sustainable.

ah ok i get what your saying...and it can then in turn help them build out and expand their network...

  10. 3 hours ago, bigsnake49 said:

It means that they will have less debt than Verizon and AT&T. The problem with the new company will be that it will have about 68 million postpaid customers compared with about 87M for AT&T and 107M for Verizon so that it will presumably have less revenue than the other two.

So how does that help them then? I don’t see the merger being very good for the other company.

Yeah, people assume this is a foregone conclusion. I'm not so certain.  Govt approval may not be a slam dunk.

Yes I have a YouTube channel and I am posting videos on what’s going on with the merger and people are coming to me asking Oh is it already done? And I tell them don’t watch those other videos on YouTube those are all just a bunch of rumors. And I told them they could take a few months before his other denied or approved.

Do you know if you can have Apple Care on the iPhone's or do you have to have their own insurance? My sister currently has a iPhone 7 on lease and my dad has a LG G6 on installment billing so I would need to figure that part out but she only uses Apple Care. How was the porting process? They live in CA and I live in NY so doing anything with changing our family plan always seems way harder than it should be.

for apple care i m not to sure about...but they do provide their own insurance for 12 dollars a month per phone. there are no multi line discounts. there is no bring your own device policy.you can only use a phone with their service that you buy off their website..they have unlimited data..but after passing the 20 gig threshold you are throttled back to only 1.5 MBPS.  i was able to easily port my number from tmobile even though i owed them money...so it should be fairly easy.

Are there stores you can sign up in? My dad and sister still live in a Comcast area and have their internet and cable tv already and I was going to mention this to them. They are currently on my Framily plan but Sprint service isn't great in their town and this seems pretty cheap. My dad never uses any data, so his line would basically be free or am I missing something?

You have to sign up over the phone or on their website. And you can only use a phone you buy from their website.  There is no bring your own device policy yet. So you would have to buy a phone from them either out right or finance it. And you can only get insurance when you purchased the phone you cannot add it later.

For a single line their price is very competitive (assuming you already have them for home broadband service).  Are there any shared plans or discounts for multi lines?

i have their home internet service..and there are no discounts for multi line plans...i didnt even have to finance much of the iphone 7 Plus...now the only other down side to the service is after 20 gigs of data they throttle you to 1.5 megs a second...
