  1. House and not Senate? In that case, Al Franken likely was not part of the hearing. If Franken were there, I would watch. He at least has a Harvard degree, critical thinking mind, and sense of humor -- unlike so many of the country lawyers and doctors that seem to populate Congress. AJ
  2. Are you forgetting the LG Chocolate? The Chocolate! http://www.phonescoop.com/phones/phone.php?p=980 AJ
  3. I am not sure why you guys are so surprised. The new Nexus 7 LTE variant(s) showed up in the FCC OET several weeks ago. No band 25 LTE 1900. Otherwise, we would have let you know. AJ
  4. Welcome to S4GRU. While it does not exactly answer your question, a good place to start reading for background is this article: http://s4gru.com/index.php?/blog/1/entry-318-can-toggling-airplane-mode-actually-improve-your-3g-data-speeds/ AJ
  5. Lack of fiber? Somebody needs to get Sprint some Colon Blow, posthaste. http://www.nbc.com/saturday-night-live/video/colon-blow/n9822/ AJ
  6. Robert, you promised to bring your bagpipes and perform this at the S4GRU Golf Classic in Tahoe next month, right? AJ
  7. Is Bob's Bank, Bait & Tackle open today? I thought he was closed on Wednesday so that he could go out to the firing range. AJ
  8. It does not. The active data session is interrupted to take the phone call, or the phone call goes directly to voicemail. AJ
  9. Absolutely not. No one in the US knows what in the heck a "SoftBank" is. It is a weak name overall, and a terrible name for a mobile operator. AJ
  10. Okay, based on the many negative comments in the CNET article, Sprint has put together a focus group to consider a new name. Instead of Sprint, what do you think of the following potential names? Hobble? Crawl? Or Usain Bolt? AJ
  11. Yes, that has been decided. The new name will be a portmanteau of Sprint-SoftBank-Clearwire: Spankwire. The new web site domain is already set up. Go ahead and try it. AJ
  12. That $2.2 billion figure cannot be accurate. I am sure that I heard Phil Falcone say, "I need about tree fitty." AJ
  13. No, it is rife with inaccuracies. Where was this comment posted? Yes, T-Mobile and VZW and have swapped many AWS A block and F block licenses. But those transactions are already complete in most, if not all affected markets. For example, T-Mobile's lease of its former AWS A block license in New York was canceled back in February. Additionally, the AWS A block license is CMA based, while the F block license is much larger REA based. But T-Mobile has received geographically partitioned portions of VZW's AWS F block license, not the whole Northeast REA. So, the commenter in question should be told that HE does not know what he is talking about. And I do not even work in the industry, but I do know what I am talking about. AJ
  14. Uh, no. Several us know how to interpret FCC OET authorization docs properly. Now, in showing the antenna diagram, I may not have posted all of the info that I used from the LG G2 filing, but you can trust me that CDMA1X, EV-DO, GSM, W-CDMA, and LTE all share the same transmit path. Simultaneous use of CDMA1X and LTE, even band 41 TD-LTE, is not supported. AJ
  15. There are a whole lot of antenna elements that have to be crammed inside this puppy... But the big takeaway is that CDMA1X, EV-DO, GSM, W-CDMA, and LTE all share the same transmit path, thus no SVDO nor SVLTE. AJ
  16. Yes, this is presumably the LG G2 headed to Sprint. It is tri band LTE: band 25 LTE 1900 + band 26 LTE 800 + band 41 TD-LTE 2600. One notable caveat is that it supports neither SVDO nor SVLTE. AJ
  17. Here you go, guys. Tri band LTE has arrived at the handset level, too. https://apps.fcc.gov/oetcf/eas/reports/ViewExhibitReport.cfm?mode=Exhibits&RequestTimeout=500&calledFromFrame=N&application_id=521495&fcc_id=ZNFLS980 AJ
  18. If limited to the 2.4 GHz ISM band, using only 20 MHz carriers is practically de rigueur. So few channels are available in the band that using 40 MHz carriers is basically being a bad neighbor. AJ
  19. DaQue, have a DaiQuiri. You will feel better. AJ
