  1. The band 12 Lower 700 MHz deployment had to be significantly finished last year because of FCC construction requirement deadlines. AJ
  2. The Lounge is active right now. You West Coast guys can keep it happening well past closing time for the rest of us. AJ
  3. Is this still the Andrew J. Shepherd Sprint Memorial Colosseum that I endowed some years ago? Or did we outgrow that capacity, too? AJ
  4. That is nothing. Get ready for the Samsung Galaxy Suppository. Now, we know why the Galaxy S5 is liquid resistant. AJ
  5. Who knows how strictly that is enforced? Provide a service area zip code within VZW native footprint but a billing zip code elsewhere, and VZW may not care. With the elimination of long distance charges, people care little where their phone number is actually homed to its MSC. They will move from one coast to another and keep the same number, caring not a whit that every one of their incoming calls gets boomeranged cross country from one MSC to another. I find that modern obliviousness a bit disheartening. AJ
  6. I am not sure that many got my "pole smoking" reference, so I will make it a bit more ribald. One night, a Network Vision contractor in Columbus asked his new girlfriend if she would "smoke his pole." She looked a bit confused, and the next morning, this happened... AJ
  7. As I have made public previously, I do not care for Glenn Gore. He signed up with Sprint so that he could get an iPhone, then used his service almost exclusively on a Sprint Rural Alliance partner. When Pioneer ditched Sprint, Glenn also ditched Sprint -- because he was not happy that the PRL eventually limited his service to CDMA1X. So, he went to VZW to get another iPhone and proceeded to use his service almost exclusively on a VZW LTE in Rural America partner. This was all driven by the iPhone. Seriously, the iPhone addiction some have displayed is ridiculous. They go wherever the iPhone goes. And they do not fault Apple for the game of keep away that it has/had played with numerous operators. I called out Glenn on that a while back. I said that the honest thing for him to do would be to support Pioneer for actually building out LTE coverage in his rural area, not to pay VZW and use Pioneer coverage nearly full time. He said that he planned to do so -- that is, once Apple finally bestowed iPhone access upon Pioneer. I wonder if anyone has asked Glenn if he actually followed through on that vow. AJ
  8. The penis mightier is part of Samsung's new S Health app. After all, the handset spends quite a lot of time in your pocket. It might as well do some good while it is down there. AJ
  9. I guess Samsung can always afford an extra "r," just not a necessary space. AJ
  10. Wait, wait, wait…is Samsung selling penis mightiers? AJ
  11. I do so sparingly. But when I do, it is a real show of respect for a top notch post. AJ
  12. I have my own version that I sometimes sing to myself. "Because I'm crappy, da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da" AJ
  13. Yes, I plan to hold a series of word crimes trials in Nuremberg this fall. Those convicted will be executed by the pen -- because it is mightier than the sword. Robert, will you be on my tribunal? AJ
  14. I am not surprised. Remember the AT&T-T-Mobile merger proceedings? This is the AT&T public relations machine's way of doing business. If AT&T had its way, the entire world would be covered in astroturf. AJ
  15. This thread has proven quite popular. S4GRU members must be really into pole smoking. AJ
  16. I do not think it is a pop culture reference. It is a geography reference because San Bernardino County is literally frickin' huge. If you look at where San Bernardino is located and where Las Vegas is located, San Bernardino County should not be a problem for Clark County, since there should be at least one other county in between them. But there is not. AJ
  17. San Bernardino County, why you so frickin' huge? AJ
  18. Somebody put a Jim Tressel sweater vest on the antenna. It overheated and got "fired." AJ
  19. In honor of the MLB All-Star game tonight, I bring you the first installment of the S4GRU All-Star standings (based on "Like" to post average): WiWavelength 1.694 kyle_4thousand 1.673 S4GRU 1.647 tommym65 1.469 mikejeep 1.334 topdownat4 1.315 The Dave 1.158 kineticman 1.138 mrrogers1 1.091 Mr.Nuke 1.038 In a surprising surge up the standings, kyle_4thousand has moved into second place, ahead of even the prolific site admin. How exciting to see such an underdog vie for the Silver Poster title. Eligibility is based on a minimum of 300 post "appearances." Otherwise, 2fastkuztoms, for example, would have made the standings. So, get posting, everyone. AJ
  20. The antennas spontaneously combusted when they had to transmit another one of Greg Oden's "old man" penis selfies. AJ
  21. You cannot conduct an apples to apples scientific comparison in only one location -- especially when you do not know the respective site elevations and ERP levels. But if you want just real world generalizations, Lower 700 MHz will be a little bit better than Upper 700 MHz, which will be a little bit better than SMR 800 MHz, which will be a little bit better than Cellular 850 MHz, which will be a lot better than PCS 1900 MHz, which will be a little bit better than AWS 2100+1700 MHz.
