  1. You do not want that. The kabash tastes even worse than khlav kalash. Even before unauthorized tethering, put the kibosh on khlav kalash. AJ
  2. Robert says, "I put The South in South Dakota." AJ
  3. You are not supposed to do that, guys. Do you turn off the ignition while you are driving? AJ
  4. This is why we cannot have nice things -- and should not have "unlimited" data. AJ
  5. Once Iliad takes over T-Mobile, Dr. Alan Parsons will replace Neville Ray. Achieving those synergies will be the Alan Parsons project. AJ
  6. I am starting a new wireless operator in the Dakotas. It is called Roughneck LTE. AJ
  7. I am not a finance guy, but the $33 per share calculation does not seem to tell the whole story. AJ
  8. Does Roger Cheng speak English? This is his opening sentence: AJ
  9. No, not a specific dig against the Europeans. It was just a ripe opportunity for some clever, historical humor about French and German "collaborators." AJ
  10. What is the source for the on air T-Mobile band 12 sites? And where are they located? Or is T-Mobile being intentionally vague? AJ
  11. Well, I will come out and say that I am in favor of this Iliad bid for a majority stake in T-Mobile. And since Deutsche Telekom will still retain a minority share, the French and Germans will be working together. They can just rebrand it to Vichy Mobile. AJ
  12. My favorite college related T-Mobile story is an old one -- it may actually be a VoiceStream story from before the Deutsche Telekom acquisition. But it is a good one, and I think that I have told it before here at S4GRU. A guy sent his son off to college in Springfield, MO, which has a metro area population of about 200,000. The son called back to the dad on a landline because his cellphone would not work. And it was not just that T-Mobile had no coverage in Springfield, the son's cellphone had no roaming service, not even emergency call service. That was because there was zero GSM in Springfield until sometime around 2002-2003. Major cities Chicago, Milwaukee, and St. Louis were in the same boat until 2001-2002. It was laughable how bad all combined GSM footprint was back then. In so many places, a T-Mobile handset was a paperweight, a glorified pocket calculator. AJ
  13. Let me join in the applause. Congratulations. Boston College is highly selective in admissions, but we have already known for a while that you are a pretty sharp young man. Chestnut Hill is a well heeled area, too. I cannot speak to the Sprint coverage, though. The last time I was there was almost exactly this time in 2010. I still had an EV-DO flip phone then; it was shortly before I upgraded to a smartphone. AJ
  14. Ah, Craig Moffett. What a troll! Yep, he is the Wall Street version of a Sprint hating troll. AJ
  15. Somewhere on the East Coast, Craig Moffett is kicking his dog. Damn, damn, damn! AJ
  16. Yeah, it is "pretty nice" -- if you are a young person who knows too little or cares too little about Net neutrality. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Net_neutrality http://www.fiercewireless.com/story/t-mobiles-music-freedom-may-tread-net-neutralitys-territory/2014-06-19 http://www.theverge.com/2014/6/18/5822996/t-mobile-music-freedom-net-neutrality http://bgr.com/2014/06/19/t-mobile-music-freedom-net-neutrality/ AJ
