  1. ##DEBUG#??? That is a syntax error on iPhone. Why do you need access to engineering screens? Everything is beautiful on iPhone -- no need for technical diagnostics. AJ
  2. Your job application for the position of curator of the Robert M. Herron Museum of Modern Cellphones has just been tossed in the trash. AJ
  3. Not installing -- not now, not ever. The Nexus 5 is an Android 4.4 KitKat device. I associate firmware with hardware. Otherwise, the historical chronology gets changed and lost. When I want Android 5.0 Lollipop, I buy a new device. AJ
  4. Soon enough, it may not even be a RadioShack -- it will be a RadioVanDownByTheRiver. AJ
  5. I have three words for you: network infrastructure nationalization. The for profit corporations have failed and can go to hell. AJ
  6. The "same" device, unfortunately, is a superficial determination. I doubt the powers that be actually examine the FCC OET filings for each "same" device. AJ
  7. That is a very big screenshot for a 5 MHz FDD carrier. Can we do better? AJ
  8. Plus, if you purchase from Sprint, you are guaranteed the appropriate 4FF nano SIM with the handset. Less opportunity for trouble... AJ
  9. Let me ask you a question. What do you think of a wireless operator who only does the bare minimum? AJ
  10. Anyone can finish a project quickly when he half asses the job. Even then, I will believe it when I see it. Not counting on it... AJ
  11. Guys, Cellular One is no specific operator. It is just a marketing name. Over the years, many different operators -- AirTouch, SBC, WWC, Dobson, et al. -- have owned or licensed the Cellular One brand in at least some of their markets. For the current example, Cellular One of Northeast Arizona is actually Smith Bagley, and it has no direct link to Chinook. AJ
  12. My intent in this thread is mostly to be a Socratic moderator -- to ask questions that incite discussion. But I feel as if my initial questions have not been fully answered. If not for the iPhone, where would AT&T be now? In the same place? VZW is practically bulletproof, but what about Sprint and T-Mobile? And what if the iPhone had embraced WiMAX years ago? Why not? IEEE standards are more open and inclusive than are 3GPP (or 3GPP2) standards. Is Apple more in bed with consumers or wireless operators? AJ
  13. Since many of those who favor iOS devices dislike my criticism of Apple and its policies in "their" threads," I have started this thread. As long as those members are not chicken about debate, discussion will remain here, not in other threads in this Apple section of The Forums. So, I will begin with this postulate and question. Apple greatly bolstered AT&T -- with an exclusive, multiyear iPhone contract. What if that had never happened? Or what if the iPhone had never existed? How would that have affected the domestic wireless industry landscape, presently? AJ
  14. You have done nothing to show that my arguments are not rational. They are supported by facts, observations, and reason. That is, by definition, rational. Despite what many think, S4GRU is not an Android worship site. But it is not going to be an iOS support group -- especially with the damage that Apple's iPhone policies have inflicted upon the wireless industry and Sprint, in particular, over the years. S4GRU does not host Sprint complaints. But no rule prohibits Apple negativity. (And this post is being written on a MacBook Air; not to mention, I own an iPad mini. So, do not tell me that I lack the requisite perspective.) AJ
  15. You like to blow a lot of money on the blow, eh? AJ
  16. It is not bait. My arguments are rational. Good grief. AJ
  17. You guys are going to hate me, but that sounds a lot like Google Voice integration. Handset, tablet, laptop/desktop. Not a new feature for Android users on Sprint. It has been around for years. AJ
  18. Why not? Go ahead and tell me. It basically supports my point. The iPhone is everywhere. It is the hoi polloi phone, and its ubiquity/influence is a big part of what makes it annoying. Popularity is not a moral good. If anything, it is a manifestation of low culture. AJ
  19. Be careful. You have no guarantee that those sold directly from Motorola will be included in Sprint's white list database. At this point, your safe bets are buying from Google Play or Sprint. AJ
  20. Come on, the iPhone deserves the dislike it receives. That the iPhone gets special plan perks and that just about every other handset you see out in the wild is an iPhone become nauseating. Now, if you would like some company, the same is becoming true of Samsung Galaxy devices. AJ
  21. Very well said. I doubt that I can put it much more diplomatically than twospirits has already done. But, as I have stated before, iPhone adherents need to acknowledge the damage that Apple has inflicted -- with its exclusionary practices -- on domestic wireless competition in markets around the world and done to CDMA2000 viability in the North America. That is bad -- all in the name of a phone that many ignorant people see as the end all, be all. AJ
  22. I have a proven track record -- no "so called" necessary. Thanks. AJ
