  1. Let us get this out of the way. You will not get SVLTE from a newly released handset on Sprint. Bar none. There are workarounds for simultaneous voice and data, but you are not going to get it out of the box with the stock dialer. If you require that, you need to start shopping for a different provider. Those are the facts... AJ
  2. Google may have learned its lesson when it comes to phablet size, but do not assume it has learned about size in the opposite direction. If Google is following current trends and experimenting, the next Nexus might be just a watch. "Calling Dick Tracy…" AJ
  3. Unless it is priced well below the flagship level, the LG G4 will not be a big seller. Sprint probably knows that already, hence the limited options. AJ
  4. A top 3% still amounts to many thousands of affected subs. That is more than enough people to make negative noise be heard. See Reddit. Do not underestimate the overall influence of a vocal minority. AJ
  5. RootMetrics should get its own thread -- by helping the cause and becoming a generous Premier sponsor. SignalCheck has shown how it is done; RootMetrics can follow suit. AJ
  6. That is degenerate argumentation, maximus. Invoking Sprint in a response to a post that is purely about T-Mobile is a distraction tactic. It is like the boy who is getting disciplined for breaking the rules protesting, "But, but, but AJ does it, too." AJ
  7. I would not say that. T-Mobile has managed to acquire the Lower 700 MHz A block in most of the top 10 markets. T-Mobile makes a big deal about it in its presentations for investors. Now, some of those markets are partially or fully UHF channel 51 encumbered. And plenty of other major markets fall outside of those top 10, where T-Mobile has no band 12 spectrum. But that is T-Mobile for you. It is an "urban" operator. It plays to its core audience of city people -- namely, coastal city people. Will it be able to expand and reinvent itself? We shall see... AJ
  8. Robert's explanation is great, but I will offer a simplified version. Las Vegas: a few tall buildings surrounded by desert plain. New York City: many tall buildings surrounded by many other tall buildings. See the difference? AJ
  9. Problematic e/CSFB should not cause dropped calls, only missed calls. AJ
  10. One reason may be that if a site similar to S4GRU were to publish AT&T insider network info, AT&T likely would stamp it out with legal action. AJ
  11. T-Mobile band 12 deployment is not putting any significant pressure on Sprint band 26 deployment anywhere. The unwashed masses of users on both sides have practically zero knowledge of the behind the scenes low/mid/high band machinations. Only we few semi professionals and advanced users care. And, in San Bernardino County, if any pressure is being applied, Sprint is the one applying it -- to the FCC to force the incorrigible rebanders to move their shit. What T-Mobile is doing is not a concern. AJ
  12. No. Basically, third party online resources devoted to AT&T are nil. For AT&T discussion, you will find only sub forums of general wireless discussion sites. AT&T just does not generate the same user interest as does Sprint or T-Mobile. People may use AT&T, but few seem to like AT&T. AJ
  13. You live in freaking Detroit. Why are you posting this in the Lower Central Valley thread? That market is in California -- about 2000 miles from you. Another member reported your post as a rant. More pressingly, though, it is way off topic. If Sprint performance lags in your market, discuss it in the relevant thread. You do not need to pour cold water on other threads about markets where Sprint performance may be better. AJ
  14. Staff had to remove some posts in this thread because of a report. This is a reminder to S4GRU's fine membership that discussion of unauthorized tethering/hotspot is prohibited. That is called stealing. If you want tethering/hotspot, pay for it. Or jump on a new plan that includes it. But using "unlimited" data for unauthorized tethering/hotspot both violates Sprint's Ts and Cs and negatively affects the network experience for fellow users. AJ
  15. No. Everybody knows that Cincinnati Bell Wireless' presence has long "cockblocked" T-Mobile on spectrum in Dayton. Otherwise, T-Mobile would be #1 super happy nifty shit -- just like it is everywhere else. Additionally, excuses apply to T-Mobile but not to Sprint. AJ
  16. Yeah, those "trash comments" are entertaining if you are sitting on the sidelines -- just watching and drinking a brewski. But if you are doing work and writing content, those "trash comments" make you question why you bother with pro bono S4GRU. And that may be the point of astroturfers. Undermine without contribution. AJ
  17. Yes, even though I purchased the Nexus 5 the first day it was available, I reviewed the FCC OET filing months earlier. You might recall that I wrote a breaking news article on the Nexus 5 back in September 2013. For S4GRU, it was one of our biggest scoops. We were the first to publish and more mainstream tech sites followed suit. http://s4gru.com/index.php?/blog/1/entry-351-teaser-is-the-lg-d820-the-nexus-5/ I chose the Nexus 5 because it was one of the first Sprint tri band handsets. Plus, if purchased from Google Play, it was unlocked and could be used on AT&T and T-Mobile, too. The non contract price was also very reasonable, making the Nexus 5 a low commitment handset. In many ways, it was the perfect storm. I have not reviewed the Nexus 5 ERP/EIRP figures in a long time. And I do not recall the numbers being outstanding nor having great expectation for its RF performance before it was released. But it has turned out to be one of the best Sprint LTE handsets of all time -- albeit baseband firmware version dependent. I do think the 2014 Moto X now slightly beats the Nexus 5 overall in the RF department. Though debatable, the 2014 Moto X presently may be the best RF handset on the Sprint network. However, the operative phrase is "on the Sprint network." It uses a Sprint SIM, but it is not technically a Sprint handset. So, that disqualifies it from most consideration. AJ
