Also, technically my 24/4 connection from Windstream is no longer broadband.
Actually, *technically* it is. You could have a cable modem capped at dial up speeds and the technology behind it is still broadband (essentially, running over multiple channels).
Also, a lot of ISPs stopped selling "broadband" several years ago. They sell high speed internet. Which is why I dont understand why anyone gets all worked up over this ruling by the FCC. The ISPs will just continue as they were.

Took a picture out my window, not so bad...

PSA from a weather guy next to us, in canada:
Also a snow map for those who need to know about how much we will get:

last year it was "squall".Squall isnt anything new. Snow squall has been around up here for as long as I can remember.
-
I will still believe it when i see it, at least what they are saying we will get now. Until this morning this storm was a complete miss for us and now its some big monster.
-
(It hasn't snowed hardly at all here )
you are more than welcome to have it all.

i thought texting in canada was included in plans? That just older plans?
-
Their coverage map states otherwise though. Several parts of the country now offer EVDO roaming.
Interesting, where? Wonder why they wouldnt do all of USCs footprint.
-
SPRINT only allows 1x roaming on consumer plans. USC I am sure would love for EVDO roaming due to the extra $$$ they would get. I have a hunch that if you tried a different PRL, either one of the custom ones here or the corp. ones, you would see EVDO roaming.

I also do not see neighbor notes on my nexus 5. i always thought it was something i did wrong or that i had to manually add the notes to the neighbor section.

Silent mode wasn't missing, unless we're talking about two different things but silent could be achieved by pressing the volume rocker buttons and then selecting "none" on the screen. I'm on 5.0.1 and verified that nothing has changed with regard to that. Silent still can't be achieved with the rocker buttons alone....unless it's somewhere else in the OS I'm not aware of, the on screen and rocker behavior is the same as before the 5.0.1 release.
I think peoples problem with that method is that you can not use the alarm function of the phone by selecting none. I do not use the alarm so it is business as usual for me.

Anyone had this applied who is on a SERO-P plan?
-
Guys its real! check your accounts! Screenshot attached!
99,999 minutes!!!!!!
Bonus Anytime - 11/19 to current
So it did get applied immediately it seems. I looked at all my lines and its there.
Bummer, i guess it is a no go on the SERO-P plans. Oh well.
But..looks like they are screwing you! it said unlimited not 99,999!!!!!!1

One thing i notice about this new update is that the phone does not hold onto eHRPD well. Constantly going back to EVDO unless i do a PRL update or reboot the phone.
-
Actually it appears that the devices from Motorola were just recently whitelisted.
Imagine that huh? Just who would have guessed they would do that?
-
I have no idea. I only know what the memo says that I posted.
Cool thanks. Hopefully SERO-P is eligible. The free minutes are a very nice gesture. Really costs nothing extra to give either. Id love to score that free extra line though. Would love to convert someone over.

Confirmed in internal correspondence to Preferred Retailers & Dealers:
Are mailings going out to the account holders?

i threw my info in. i like to live dangerously. The way that page and the page after it are worded, it seems as though it is meant for employees in stores or something. regardless, the wording on the next page mentions it being sent off for verification and then approval and it will show on customers next billing statement. I am on SERO-P so it probably does not apply to me anyways but honestly, i essentially have unlimited minutes anyways.

I had to use stock recovery and side load the OTA. I tried using TWRP and flashing it like I did with previous OTA's but it just gave me an error that did not seem related to the recovery. Put the stock recovery on and side loaded with ADB and it worked fine.
how do i do that? you didnt lose anything right? i suppose if that were the case you would have just flashed the entire factory image.
-
boy this is weird. trying to update the OTA files with custom recovery and the zip fails. I have 4.4.4 and have for quite awhile. The error states that it can not proceed because i have KVT49L installed..... that was software for the Nexus 7 and is the Verizon edition. Wtf?

In most cases there is only a second or 2 for the info to download and show the info, and with triband devices, as the call tunneling is working to notify the phone of an incoming call, poof, there's the data.
Sent from my iPhone 5S using Tapatalk
But even when connected to EVDO or 1xRTT / roaming?
-
It pulls the info from the CNAP Directory..google it, that's what I know.
I figured that much. I wondered how it was doing this at a start of a call, quickly enough though. Unless data is still connected during phone ringing?

To city buildings, schools, libraries, etc that might be so. In regards to cable at least, franchise agreements do not deal with internet / telephone services...they address cable television service only. Naturally, the cable company is going to provide voice and data as well as that is the money maker but franchise agreements do not touch on those services at all, let alone speed thresholds then again, mnost cable companies now have higher speed tiers, at a much higher price for those that want them so they can at least say they "offer" them.
For the telcos, I believe only phone service (POTS) is regulated. Sure that can change in the years ahead but with the way the landline phone companies are letting the networks rot (looking at you Verizon and AT&T) because they want users on wireless..I dont foresee any big, positive developments.
