  1. Add me to the list. Maybe they fixed LTE scanning from 26 -> 3G instead of checking 25?

My band priorities are still the same at 25 -> 26 -> 41

Ooo very interesting it threw me to LTE/GSM/CDMA (auto).

Would any of those parameters be within the profile and not so much the radio software?

  2. Well first the fact that they were a customer of Sprint's Internet backbone and now they won't be and second because it will take out another supplier of backhaul out of the market.

I thought it was TW cable business that provides backhaul in areas, not TW Telecom?

  3. the new baseband has some weird quirks.  For instance, it wont connect to LTE without an airplane toggle or restart.  Only band 25 here for me right now.  I dont think it is CSFB as i never had issues before.

When connected to just 3G..it shows I am connected to LTE band 51....however, the .15 radio shows band 50 when connected to just 3G  Why the difference?

I also noticed the .15 radio when scanning for LTE scans ALL bands.  I watch the engineering screens and I see 1,2,3, 17, etc etc being scanned (which causes connection drops when on EVDO.  This new radio scans only 25, 26 and 41 like it should.  The .15 problems seems to only have started in the last month or two.

  4. .15 inflates dBm readings. In reality .15 and 2.13 probably have very similar performance and 2.13 gives a small boost on 3G/1x.

Even if it inflates readings, it still connects to LTE and is usable (band 25) whereas .13 may see the "true" reading and is actually lower but refuses to connect (or hold a connection) due to the low reading.  I dont have band 41 or band 26 around here at all, that i know of, so I can only go by band 25 for now and the end user experience with the phone in the same spot between the two radios...15 wins in this regard.

  5. How weird. I mentioned previously that this new radio tanked reception compared to .15.  The gauge that I use is placing it on a window and with .15 i could get very fringe, but usable band25 connection.  This new radio was zilch in the same spot.  Others have this same problem.

I placed my phone in "LTE (Recomended)" but i also disabled band 41 completely and now I can get that fringe LTE connection back in the same spot in the window.  Sweet.

Apologies if this was outlined previously as I know there is other discussion of various bands causing problems.

EDIT To ADD-  There seems to be a certain set of circumstances that are needed for this to work.  Flash the newest radio or update profile to set things back to the way they were.

Make sure you are in LTE Recomended Mode

Go into the LTE band editing area.

    Disable Band 41.

    Assign Band 25 a value of 1

    Assign Band 26 a value of 0

Do not touch band 41 value as editing this breaks the above behavior.

    Allow it to reboot.

  6. *#*#72786#*#*

Not the same as a profile update. Worth trying if you aren't seeing any non band 25 LTE.

that doesnt seem to get it to rerun hands free act.  the phone has a box showing it is rebooting but underneath that I can see another box waiting for user input but i cant get to it to accept.  grrr.

  7. Band 25 takes a small hit as well.  I could set the phone on my window and get band 25 @ about -110 or so.  Now with this new radio I do not get it in the same spot.  Will keep playing.  Ive done the entire update and things seem okay so far.

  8. according to the website there is no extra charge to text canada, it has been this way for awhile.  i dont really know how much clearer it again get than that.  if you want, make a screenshot of the page and then if you get burned you can show where you were quoted.

  9. The first flaw with your statement is it's IMPOSSIBLE to have truly unlimited data once they implement the 5gb cap in a few days.

Except it isnt a 5 GB cap or starting point.  They never said it begins at 5 GBs.  It is the top 5% for the previous months data usage.  This will be a constantly moving threshold depending on usage of everyone on the network.  They will aggregate all users data use together and take the top 5%.

  10. Gotcha I didn't recall that.

Couldnt find it before but realized it is in the PRL thread, first post:

"As many have noted Sprint has used the 22429 SID for testing new 800SMR networks.  You may find yourself on this SID and your EVDO may or may not work due to the EVDO record scan is designed for Utah's license."

  11. Actually that is the one I think I am sure isn't the case. I'm very confident in the person who created that PRL. He knew what he was doing.

    Something else is amiss.

Digiblur stated before that if 1x800 is broadcasting on the test SID in your area, you can see problems with EVDO since there is some sort of location mismatch between the test SID and the settings for EVDO locally to the area.  When my area switched off the test SID to the local SID for 800 here I no longer saw this issue on my Nexus.  1x800 could work in harmony with EVDO.

  12. It's not throttling the way AT&T or T-Mobile do by artificially limiting your speed.

It is a network prioritization, so your packets will be delayed as they are a lower priority than other "standard" users that haven't hit the 5% mark.

Was the method and the way they go about it published anywhere?

I believe some of the cable ISPs, biggest one being Comcast, use network prioritization as needed and have for several years and it hasnt caused any problems.  Unless for some reason it is different in a wireless network.

  13. 10. You should see that there are a couple active ports in QPST.  Highlight the one that has some number under the phone tab and has USB for the link.

I will say, that at first, QPST did not list any ports let alone the port my Nexus was connected on.  If that is the case, dont worry.  Simply click Add port to add it manually and then once you do that it will show up and you can continue on with the steps just the same.

  14. I know that link but nothing was announced but it does not explain the updated coverage maps. What has changed between 5/4 and 5/19

Im looking at my local area and it seems they extended the LTE out further.  I dont have past coverage maps to compare this to though but i dont seem to remember LTE coverage to be depicted this far reaching.  Based on the two full build sites that serve my town and the next city over the coverage, if I had to guess, shows LTE on band 26.  However, I have not seen band 26 on my Nexus 5 yet.  Could be I dont have the capabilities to connect to it yet or maybe it has not been accepted but possibly, they added in some band 26 coverage.

  15. It takes 30 seconds? That's a long time. From what I've seen my N5 usually connects to the call in 5 seconds or less. Sometimes as long as 10, but that's not very often.

the weird thing is, if it takes awhile, any calls after it will be fairly quick to switch to 1x on the phone and connect.  Almost as if the last switch is cached until you move out of the area.
