  1. The Boost and Virgin brands are definitely redundant, and I'm not sure the Virgin brand has the cachet on the USA that it has in other markets (the airline, for example, barely has any presence outside a few transcon and transoceanic markets). Plus the Boost brand gives them somewhere to dump T-Mobile's ops when they ditch the T-Mobile name.

As for bringing back the Nextel brand, I'm a bit more ambivalent but they need to use it for something or lose the trademark at some point.

Is that true that they will lose the trademark if they don't use it?

  2. I'll start:

In the coming year I will stop, wait 30 seconds, then reread my message before posting to S4GRU.com forums. Also its a late Christmas gift for A J

    :)

I like that. Maybe I could do that also.

  3. Nice! I did notice that the LTE I got in Stow might have been from the Ravenna towers. I hope I'm wrong but it's getting closer

Yeh, the lte by the high school looks like it was from up on the hill which could be a straight shot to the ravenna towers. Think they are on their way though.

  4. Yea I'm running 4.4.2 I'm not rooted or anything

Sweet. You mapped lte to within a mile or so from my house. I might have to swap my old wimax for the n5 soon. Come on sprint!

  5. I'm in the Stow/Kent area! Its coming! I've been mapping for about 2 months and when I started there was no signal in Ravenna or stow. But now I'm starting to see some LTE. But phone wise I would go with the N5 or wait for the HTC one 2 or s5I upgraded from the s3 to the N5 and I love the pure android. Its way faster than the s3 and the screen is way more crisp. I've also did a side by side comparison of the camera since they are both 8mp and the N5 is way better all around Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk

Did you update to the new 4.4.2?

  6. Hello everyone!

I was reading more about the softbank take overs. Since they are lighting a fire under them, does that mean that they will be paying for new people to upgrade the equipment? Reading on here, it looks like they are hopelessly delaying everything.

Your post all sound like you hate sprint. So why are you here?

  7. Gotcha, I think I'm gonna stick with my N5 on sprint until spring then maybe ponder over to T-Mobile or Att. Unless sprint buys T-Mobile then who knows what will happen after that

Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk

That is one of the best things about the n5, you can take it to.most carriers.

  8. Ahhh alright, so it just gives you a new # then whenever you get a new phone you just download GVoice so your phone calls come through your new phone?

Do you like it? I might try this but the app has pretty bad reviews

Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk

I only use it occasionally. Set it up while porting a couple phones to ting. Seems to work good for calls in and out and for voicemail. Have not used it for texting yet.

  9. I've never really looked into it, but by the sounds of it I might have to check it out. Is that what you use?

One google voice but several ways to configure it. Go to the google voice website and create a gv account. Note, I do not configure it for Sprint integration. Download the google voice app from the play store to your nexus 5. Setup google voice from the website to call your phone(s) for incoming calls. Setup the app on the phone to us google voice for outgoing calls. Works for all carriers.

I do not use sprints google voice integration, I use the google voice app for android.

Yes I have one number on google voice. It is free from google. It can automatically ring any (or all) of my phones when that number is called. When I call out from either of my android phones, it can show as coming from my same google voice number.

  12. I am in the same boat in the same market. I am up for an upgrade and want to future proof my phone as much as possible but I am intrigued by the note 3 and at the same time I am put off by the fact that it is only single band device. Are the cool features worth the single band coverage? I do have to wonder how much of a detriment that will be in the CLE market though? I thought that I would be picking up an LTE signal by now in my hometowm of Cuyahoga Falls. I may just go with the GS4 & break the HTC buying trend of the last 4 years or show a little reatraint and patience by waiting for the S5!

I see where sensorly is showing strong lte in ravenna and some light signals in kent and part of stow. You may not be too far behind. At least we can hope so.

  13. I just have no desire in increased specs except for battery life. We've kind of hit a wall performance wise. I mean, smartphones have better specs than most of our laptops. And my vision is not good enough to see anything finer than 1080p HD.

Until someone innovates something useful, I'm going to be sitting on the sidelines waiting for the next big thing. Wouldn't likely upgrade until I break something.

Robert via Samsung Note 8.0 using Tapatalk Pro

Agreed, I am still pretty happy with the performance of my old photon 4g. But I may have to upgrade it since it wont do lte much less tri-band.
