I wonder if they are feeling they are losing Clearwire. hmm... I think it is good to make customers happy. Why not make an incentive to switch to LTE. The markets that did not get Wimax (including mine) will benefit from this promotion.
Sounds like they are hedging their bet in case dish gets some control or clear goes belly up.

From reading it also appears that you will be able to get an LTE device without a contract extension, wonder if any discount will be provided? I'm very surprised that they are giving a no ETF option, the phone will supports 3G and will function.
Some of us don't live in wimax areas now and only get 3g most of the time.

Where does sprint claim that city to be 100 percent complete?

But what could dish actually do to clearwire? Sprint will soon own 68 percent anyway.

Just thought maybe instead of paying to tear the rest of it down ... towers backhaul etc ... dish could buy it and leave us alone.

I would think not until they decomission wimax. By then most wimax phones should be out of contract anyway.

Japan has been a close ally since the end of ww2, this is nothing more than protectionist bs in my opinion.
Good point. Are they going to ban iphones next? After all, they are made in china aren't they?

I've now done my part to ensure that the Cincinnati market, particulary Dayton gets LTE. I finally got sick of basically useless data service over the past year and jumped ship to T-Mobile, which means that Sprint should be turning on LTE any day now in Dayton.
LOL. That is funny. Sounds like my luck somtimes.

Got it also. Thanks.

I read this as Sprint selects NutCracker for network transformation program. I could just see it now, you break the T and C's and we crack your nuts.
Ok ok for i won't break the t and c's ... LOL too funny ...

I never though WiMax was terrible -- just the high frequency that Clear deployed it on... If I was 3 blocks away from the tower I could get 16-18 megs easily... but any further and it would start to drop... go inside and it would drop... and Clear's towers were spaced WAY too far apart.
Had Sprint figured out a way to plug WiMax equipment into their existing 1900 mhz. network in addition to to Clear's coverage, this whole story might have been different, and NV might be a mass WiMax 2 deployment.
I like that thought. Guess the cash flow stopped that a while back. Wonder which is better technology if you were starting from scratch.
