  1. If the merge I almost hope they pick a new name without Sprint or T mobile in it. Maybe ditch some of the "they suck" I hear if I mention either name.

Maybe ... Nextel ... I know I didn't just say that out loud did I?

  2. That text went out to almost every Sprint subscriber. Even ones who no longer live in a Sprint coverage area. The consensus is it is just marketing, and doesn't mean much. Don't get expectations up too much.

True, but his general area is getting updated already so it is not a stretch to believe they will continue what they have been doing. Ravenna is done. Streetsboro is lighting up now. Kent can't be too far behind. Then again ... I have been wrong before.

  3. They're both too close to the IBEZ. Sprint could put in another site in the area. Is signal extremely week in those areas?

Just the opposite. According to sensorly they have better coverage there then any other carrier. Didnt think there were many sprint towers there. Maybe it is because the flat farm country allows for a better signal coverage even with only using band 25.

  4. There's a band 26 site at the LTE core / switching center in Akron so we might get lucky. They could probably do band 26 at reduced transmit power. I wish AJ could pop in and give us some insight.

Band 41 is only good for short distances and outdoor use. It doesn't like water or building material. It gets absorbed pretty easily.

I think there is an exception for band 26 in certain areas in oh.

  5. I've not been expecting an N5 Spark update before the end of the month. But it would be nice.

There are very solid rumors that the LG G2 will get its update before the end of the month. And that may translate to the N5 getting its update soon. But I'm not expecting it.

I must have been confusing it with the G2. Thanks for the info.

  6. Exactly what you're saying. The aesthetic of the physical phone.

Like the HTC ONE was a very good looking phone.

Makes since, thanks. Guess my case hides the look and feel. Afraid to leave it off. See to many people drop their phones. Maybe I will evolve ...

  7. Is this an extension (or clone?) of what Republic Wireless is trying to do? And does Republic's plan require you to have a cdma signal? Just curious. Would certainly prefer to use a standard phone like the n5 on sprint instead of a tricked out special phone that is only good on the republic plan.

  8. It's a phone that does everything marvelously. There's nothing you can really throw at it that it will not be able to handle. It's not gimmicky, or flashy, or have many features that you can write home about, in a sense this phone is the most utilitarian phone out there.

So if you want a phone that will perform like a beast, but don't care about looks, then this phone will impress you and I can guarantee that it's performance will make you fall in love with it.

This may sound stupid, but what exactly are people referring to when they talk about a phone's "look"? (Software ..

Materials ... trim?) I usually put mine in a case. Maybe that is why I never notice a difference.

  9. Just to clarify your point further, the Nexus 5 does indeed require a software OTA to run Spark. I know what you mean, but I didn't want there to be any confusion since the poster mentioned he thought the Nexus 5 already was enabled.

Are we still expecting that update this month?

  10. I wasn't expecting that test to be a representative of the Sprint or Tmobile network nationwide. I was just curious how it currently stands as of today in terms of voice and data on Tmobile. All 4 of the carriers have not completed their LTE upgrades so it doesn't matter. Its not like any of the 4 major carriers were making claims that they have completely finished 100% of their LTE overlay nationwide.

Oh, I see. Might be interesting to see what a sprint -tmo merger would look like in terms of tower locations and future coverage.

  11. Just would like to see how the 4 national carriers fare between each other. Also would have been informative to see which areas and how often Tmobile jumped between EDGE, 4G and LTE.

Sidenote: Bro are you still using the Photon 4G??? Dude you should upgrade already unless you are waiting for a specific phone.

We don't have lte here yet so my photon is as good as any phone for now, probably better RF performance then the one they used in that "test". Legacy market so might as well let them fix it before upgrading. On ting so there is no upgrade cost in my monthly bill.

Has Sprint finished their upgrades in this guy's test area? If not what could this test even tell us? Case in point, a small town 15 miles from here had dismal service last month. Now they have lte and good fast service everywhere in and out of town. A test last month would be totally bogus now.

  12. Do people actually use Android anti-virus apps? The only time I've witnessed anything close to malicious was from pirated software...

Didn't google have to remove a couple apps a year or two ago for malicious code?
