I have not watched the Keynote yet. Shoot....so i'm guessing w/o e-SIM support we would have to use the physical slot....

Acutally, if you want to use AT&T, Verizon, or T-Mobile for your 2nd line, I would assume you could. However, if you buy your phone from Sprint, I don't know how the SIM slot lock policy works for the XS.

Any word on if or when Sprint will support the esim feature? This would allow me to ditch my second phone I have for my business and just use both lines on the same phone. I’d be all about that.

No word yet. I'm not sure if anyone has tweeted the question to Sprint yet or not either. But when they do, my friend would love to upgrade to the XR for that very feature. I think it would be awesome for that. One phone for business and personal would sure be more convenient.

Does the iPhone XS not come with a SIM in it? Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't you be able to have a Sprint SIM in the device and use the eSIM for whatever other carrier you want? I might not understand how eSIM works but just curious.

Yes, a Sprint SIM would still come in Sprint models. They are all dual-SIM, so one physical SIM card and one eSIM. If you can use a Sprint SIM for one line and use the eSIM on AT&T or Verizon, it would be great, especially since you can use the eSIM on another carrier when you travel the world.

    Very nice! ?

This is already live in the App.

Well, I can't order through the iPhone Upgrade Program because Apple requires that I use a physical address thanks to UPS, but my Sprint billing address is a PO Box, and because I owe for my iPhone X, I can't even choose the priority options in the My Sprint app unless I buy for full price. Do you know the pricing for upgrades for existing customers?

iPhone XR is Apple's mid-size, lower priced iPhone for 2018, announced September 12, 2018. When it launches October 26, it'll come in 6 colors, all available in 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB configurations.

Included are most of the features found in the XS models, like the A12 Bionic Processor, FaceID in the 7MP True Depth front camera, wireless charging, and Dual SIM technology, 1 physical SIM and 1 eSIM(currently not supported by Sprint).

Notable differences are the 6.1" Liquid Retina LCD display, single 12MP wide-angle lens, IP67 water-resistance instead of IP68, and only LTE-Advanced LTE, not Gigabit-class LTE.

However, it does include LTE band 71, so it's compatible with T-Mobile's 600MHz spectrum.

I would say the XR is similar enough to the XS and XS Max that it could be contained in this thread as well, but considering that it is meant to be the iPhone for the masses, it may warrant it's own thread.

For convenience we could put it here, but I think I agree with you. I'll start a separate thread for it.

  6. (Original first post info)

As was seen on Thursday in the 9to5Mac bombshell leak of iPhone XS, and rumored for months before, we know that September 12th's launch of the 2018 iPhone flagship model will come in 5.8" and 6.5" OLED screens. We also learned that gold will be included in the color choices. And also thanks to 9to5Mac, we now have a picture of the new phones. The only information we still don't have are details of the 6.1" with LCD and internal hardware specs. Those details may leak out over the next 10 days (hopefully not, as most of the surprise and fun of launch events is gone). But for now, for those excited about a gold XS, you can drool over this photo for the next 10 days.

iPhone XS and XS Max are Apple's newest flagship phones, and the successors to Apple's 2017 iPhone X. They have the new A12 Bionic chip, improved cameras and faster FaceID, and come in a beautiful Gold Stainless Steel finish in addition to the Silver & Space Gray options. They are available in the same 5.8" Super Retina display as with the X, and the bigger 6.5" Super Retina. They are available in 64GB, 256GB, and 512GB configurations.

Apple added Dual SIM technology to the 2018 iPhone's, with one physical SIM, and one eSIM. (eSIM feature not currently supported by Sprint, but is said to be coming later). These phones also feature IP68 water-resistance (iPhone X was IP67) which gives you protection in water for up to 30 minutes in up to 2m of water.

Main issue has been radio. Compared to my iphone 7 Plus, it is like converting back to an iphone 5.

The front glass also seems very susceptible to scratching. Compared to my 7+ which is a year older, I have much more scratches on the X than the 7+.

The radio is definitely weaker than the 7+. My wife uses my old 7+ and she’s connected to LTE in more places. I’m very skeptical about the 2018 iPhones using intel chips.

Like both of you, I noticed that with my X over my 7+ as well. I got a mobile hotspot to cover that issue, and now I use my iPad 6th Gen since I use it for business and carry it everywhere, and most of my dead spots are fully covered again. Hopefully the next iPhone X has much stronger radios than the first one.

Anyone having issues with yahoo email? Starting Saturday, the iOS mail app was missing about a week's worth of emails and now it's only showing June 12th as the most recent email. It keeps telling me with numerals when I get new email, but they never load. I've already deleted the account and added it back, but no change.

Mine is still working fine. I'm still getting all my yahoo emails strangely.

Has anyone that has updated to iOS 11.4 noticed a decrease in LTE connectivity? My phone has starting to connect to 3G more. It’s taking long to connect to LTE in places where I would never lose LTE.

I've noticed that plus my Franklin R910 has had a worse time reconnecting to LTE in the last 2 weeks as well. It's been crazy. Drives me nuts.

The amount of time it takes a modern phone to reconnect to LTE after dropping you CDMA is not related to the phone. Sprint has implemented ORNL network-wide and that should be taking care of CDMA-to-LTE handoffs.

    What is ORNL?

So the AC66u was named as a vulnerable router against the VPNFilter hack. FBI is recommending that everyone with this model update to the latest firmware and do a factory reboot.

The Sprint router wasn't named as being vulnerable. But since it's the same physical router as the AC66u...shoukd we expect Sprint/ASUS to finally rollout an update to the OG firmware?

I think they've dropped support for it. You can't use an Airave 3 with it, as it will incorrectly QoS the Airave traffic and throttle it to a couple hundred KB/sec. Honestly your best bet is to flash a third party firmware to it. Merlin is pretty popular and is based on the stock firmware. OpenWRT / dd-wrt is also an option I believe, but I'm pretty sure hardware accelerated NAT isn't functional (you likely wouldn't notice anyway).

I replaced my WiFi Connect router with the ASUS RT-AC1750, which is basically the AC66U-B1. Added benefit is the included USB 3.0 port.

With Todays announcement that T-Mobile and Sprint are merging, and the announcement of the T-Mobile Sprint Roaming deal that will survive and will last for four years regardless if the merger is completed or not, which is effect immediately as stated in the conference call and the slides made available.

Do you have a link to the slides? I've been working all day and haven't had a chance to see much.

Random update post: iPhone X and AirPods...my digital life is complete.

Somewhat late to the party but finally got me a pair of AirPods last night. It’s like perfection ².

Now...back to Netflix and The Expanse.

I don't have AirPods yet. Don't have the extra funds to do so at this time.
