  1. Verizon has AWS in the area and has gotten better.

In Vegas I'm sure they do, but I don't know that they turned on AWS in Pahrump. Pahrump is left out of many things because it's not a big money making area like Lost Wages (Las Vegas).

  2. Ouch!!! I guess Pahrump is not exactly the destination mecca that LV is..other carriers this bad?

Verizon Band 13 sucks. I've heard T-Mobile sucks in some areas and is better in others. I'm still on 3G! I hope LTE launches soon.

  3. Ok, so I just went through my SCP log from last Friday on my LG G Pad, and I picked up 5 different B26 signals, 2 of which are from the same tower, just 2 different sectors.

1st and last were on 160 just west of the 159 junction.

2nd was on Charleston Blvd on the edge of Summerlin.

3rd was in the parking lot of Downtown Summerlin about a block up from the Apple Store.

4th was near Ft Apache and Warm Springs.

Strongest rsrp from any of the 5 signals was -95. As of now, it's anyone's guess as to where these 4 towers are.

  4. Jean has finally LTE? Last time I was in Jean, the network was just 3G and LTE (B25/41) was in Primm.

I have no idea about the status of the network in Jean. All I know is the relay chain starts in Jean, runs to Sandy Valley, then through the desert to Pahrump.

  5. Yes B26 is so far on track to be activated in the next 90 days. As far as I know it is already on the sites just turned off. From my understanding this was because it was causing interference... I believe with Emergency Service and such.. I will have to ask and make sure. What's crazy is in Vegas Sprint outperforms in a lot of categories... even being named 2 out of the last 3 times the Top Network in Vegas by RootMetrics..... without ANY 800mhz! So I am very excited to see it be activated. I live in Pahrump though but work in Vegas, so I experience the best and WORST of Sprint daily! Why was it being held up in Cali?

San Bernardino County Emergency services have time and again delayed their upgrades to their systems forcing Sprint to wait over and over. I sure hope this stupid debacle is over soon and B26 LTE is launched in the area soon.

  6. Well I have a little inside baseball knowledge. As far as Vegas 212 Towers are set to activate the 800mhz LTE in next 90 days. (Estimate). Pahrump should be done by December from what I heard yesterday. I heard from a higher up beginning of the year that Pahrump was going to get "everything LTE..." but as far as I know it's just it's just B25 1900. B26 would be nice though. B41 is still TBD. I do know they are very focused on hitting the Strip in Vegas hard with B26 to get into the hotels, and I heard they will be densifying it greatly with small cells on B41 with possible 3x Carrier Aggregation. Saw 5 new towers slated to open in next 6 months ish for N Las Vegas too. I honestly don't know about these Microwave setups... will All of 160 be lit up with 4G from Vegas to Pahrump? Or are they going straight over the top of the mountain?

We have no Band 41 equipment on the 2 Sprint sites in Pahrump, but they are full build sites so we will get Band 26 at least in addition to Band 25.

As for the Microwave setup, they are running it from Jean through Sandy Valley and then out to Pahrump. The sites on 160 between Vegas and Pahrump could feasibly get LTE B25 because the equipment is PCS with the GMO set up, but I'm not worried if it happens or doesn't. I just want it in Pahrump.

  7. The risk isn't on the customer here.

It's on SoftBank as it will decrease profits in theory

In terms of Framily customers, it doesn't decrease profits, because I'd gladly pay $15/mo more for 5GB of tethering. 6GB on Framily is $50/mo! As soon as I pay off my lease, I'm switching.

  8. I like my cellphone network like my food: GMO free :)

There is a need for speed...

You hate GMO's like I do. However, I have full build sites worse than many of the GMO's I've used in the last 6 months.

  9. There is so much that needs to be done around LV, especially along the I-15 to Mesquite. Not much LTE love until you hit Mesquite after Moapa.

GMO's. 3G still works pretty good on most GMO's in the area.

  10. There's not even a Pro thread!

Edit: my bad, it is there. :)

We do create threads for most, if not all devices launched on Sprint, even if they are the most expensive devices and the chance that even one person buying it in our membership is slim.

  11. They put up the final relay chain along a highway here in December and January, LTE didn't go live until May-June.

And there is a chance that getting permits in Clark County, NV for the last 2 links could be a problem, but at least Nye County was quick and easy.

  12. Are they prepping for LTE finally ?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Yes. They applied for extending their microwave relays at the beginning of July and got approval on the 22nd. I saw them out there working yesterday, but they weren't back this morning when I was back in the area. Hopefully tomorrow when I go back again. The last I was told by a Sprint rep was the end of this year for LTE in Pahrump, which it's looking closer to that. They have at least 4 links they have to add to complete the chain.

  13. Today I was right by the north Sprint site in Pahrump and they were working on the tower running cable for the new microwave backhaul that they are adding to the sites on the Pahrump side of Mt Charleston. I'll try to get better pics tomorrow because the 1 I did get was really blurry.

  14. And pahrump is still on 3G isn't it ? I remember driving there from Vegas to meet a friend while I was in town awhile back. Smh. I feel like sprint should have addressed the backhaul issues before the LTE rollout. They're still building out the LTE network because of this issue.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Still on 3G. Not even a mistaken LTE public test yet. The problem we have is AT&T is lazy with their fiber expansion, and Valley Electric has hit many snags in their fiber rollout to the point they switched to wireless in the interim. And Suddenlink Communications, which just recently bought our local cable company, is taking a backseat and just maintaining the cable network here, with no intentions to expand service. And the local WISP oversold service so much that it's questionable at best.

  15. 1X800 provides better coverage, higher capacity and enhanced voice services in comparison with 1900, anyone please correct me if wrong.

From what MacinJosh stated, we might not be get B26 if sites are GMO, I believe the reason we lack LTE B25 is due to back haul and/or fiber to the tower, but you are correct, my friends on ATT do have LTE :(

Backhaul for rural sites has been a hard and slow process. It's terrible how slow it's going. Microwave backhaul to rural sites seems to becoming a big norm in the desert southwest. Here in Pahrump, they applied for amendments for existing permits to expand microwave backhaul to all sites running in Pahrump and between Pahrump & Vegas.

  16. So once it's cleared would that mean band 26 would be activated from L.A to Vegas on the I-15. It's practically 3G the entire way. Kind of frustrating when I drive to Vegas.

Unfortunately many of the sites between Barstow and Baker are GMO, and don't even have 800MHz equipment.
