  2. NOTE: There was a hang up with VigLink forwards to the appropriate URL's. Should be fixed now.
  3. S4GRU Members: Approximately one third of your usage now comes via the Tapatalk and Forum Runner apps. That's great! However, these apps don't have access to articles in The Wall and announcements in the The Bulletin Board. While I was in the shower this morning (where I do my best thinking, BTW), I came up with an idea... "Why don't we create a forum section with linked posts to The Wall and The Bulletin Board for App users??? Brilliant!!!" We already post every article on Facebook, Google+ and Twitter when they are published, so it's no big deal to post a link in the forums to for our App users. We have created a new News Forum in the forum front page. And two subforums, News Articles from the Wall and Messages from the Bulletin Board. Now you will be able to just go to New Content, and see if any new news articles or announcements has posted since your last sign in. You can then follow the link directly to the story and read in your default mobile browser. Additionally, we have set up in The News Forum an additional new category called Member Posted News Articles. Here S4GRU Members can post links to relevant news stories they have read each day that may be of interest to other members. It's kind of like re-tweeting! I do want to apologize, though. I went back and added articles and announcements since February 6th. So you will have a whole bunch of New Content appear the next to you sign in. However, upon your next sign in, this will return to normal and only brand new articles and announcements will appear. Hope you like these new features! Robert Herron S4GRU.com
  4. I'm sure the name will be longer and more unwieldly than that!!!
  5. by Jeff Foster Sprint 4G Rollout Updates Tuesday, February 28, 2012 - 6:44 AM MST Everyone’s heard about Androids fragmented ecosystem, well we’re about to get some more. Jelly Bean, the new Android version 5.0 is coming, and soon. Some rumors suggest that Google’s next update may be coming out as soon as this summer. The first word about Jelly Bean was back in September 2011. There was just the announcement of the name and little else. In fact, so little information was released that it led many to believe that it may have been a hoax. Questions also arose if this was going to be an incremental upgrade or a big one? More recently, there was a tip that this new upgrade of Android would be Android 5.0 and would be released in the 2nd quarter of this year, and it would have features similar to Motorola’s desktop mode. This function would allow the phone when plugged in or attached via dock to simply adjust its user interface to desktop mode, although nothing has been confirmed. With the impending purchase of Motorola, there seems plausible. This leads us to believe that this upgrade may be more than some bug fixes and multitasking enhancements. Android 4.0 was designed to be the OS’s push into tablets, and so far has made little impact in the market. This isn’t surprising since its first announcement was just five months ago. Google reports that Ice Cream Sandwich holds 1% of Android market share. It appears that at first blush, Jelly Bean is possibly going to be tablet specific, which would indicate that Google is backing off its commitment to have a “one size fits all” OS like iOS for the iPhone/iPad. Again, this is just speculation at this point. Android Advice reports that Jelly Bean devices will have some nice new features, including the ability to switch between operating systems without the need to restart. The rumor of an early release could be to counter the unexpected rave reviews from upcoming Windows 8 tablets and the expectation of the impending iPad 3 release. If Google was to announce a big change to Androids core functionality, it would be more likely the announcement of Jelly Bean aka Android 5 would be at the yearly I/O conference in June. The likelihood of Google releasing new software this early is far-off. The desktop mode would be a nice feature added to Android but don’t expect to see it until late fall. S4GRU EDIT 9:36 AM MST: Computer World released an article this morning that says a Google Exec is claiming a Fall 2012 release for Android 5.0 Jelly Bean. 6. We have another member from Yuma named Hypeo. Maybe he will come and chime in with his experiences. I know that they are not good, though. Currently, Sprint is out deploying band-aid fixes ahead of Network Vision. You can go to network.sprint.com and enter your city to see if any of these temporary fixes are coming your way in the short term. In the long term it will take Network Vision to solve your issues. You can stay tuned to S4GRU.com. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday we publish an article discussing a new Network Vision market planned for 2012 and where it fits in the schedule. - Robert, S4GRU Posted via Forum Runner
  7. 1xA is backward compatible. New phones are not needed. But its in Sprints interest to get 1xA ready devices out there to take advantage of all the network efficiencies it wants to gain from 1x Advanced. Posted via Forum Runner
  8. Wow, these are actually usable speeds for you. As for the images, some servers will not allow images to be hotlinked. They may do that if the sell advertising and want people to be able to see it.
  9. I think what the issue here is, is that Sprint has committed that they would give Clearwire all this money since December, but it actually doesn't have the cash to do it. This debt raising just actually is the means to get the money it has already committed to Clearwire. That's what I think.
  10. It appears that those pictures are password protected and not visible to us mere mortals!
  11. Jerald...it's not something I can do. But there are other S4GRU members here that can. Hopefully they will see your question and come to our rescue!

  13. I've always been open that I use Verizon for work and Sprint for personal. Although, in my area there is no issue being on Sprint. Both networks perform about the same here. And Sprint and Verizon are colocated at most sites. The big difference here is I can use VZW on 850. Thus, there are lots of deep valleys and canyons I can get VZW and not Sprint. Although VZW data speed drops off really significantly around -90dBm. Whereas on Sprint, its totally usable all the way to -101dBm. I've never really understood why. I've wondered if Verizon configures it cell edges as to not interfere with the entire cell performance. But I have no idea. Posted via Forum Runner
