  1. If 7 sites are live now, how can you say it starts in June? Wouldn't it be more proper to say it has already started? Just saying.

Also, one of our members has already shown us pics of a NV site in Yauco, PR. But he posted it in a Sponsor area. NV is indeed underway in PR.

  2.

That makes since....Ima have to double check but I swear someone in xda showed speeds vastly better side by side with the 3D on the lte and they were not in a NV market...

One thing i noticed is there is no more power saving mode overall like in the 3D...

And there are lots of reasons why two devices can have vastly different speeds, of course. The most obvious is being connected to different sites. And this is something difficult for most users to be able to definitively rule out.

But eHRPD is only available at NV sites. As AJ points out above that eHRPD is connected through new backhaul to new NV 4G cores. So only NV sites will have eHRPD.

  3. here mine is using eHRPD

also of note' date=' we (where i work) do have 1 evo lte left.....[/quote']

Here is your what? Is there supposed to be an attachment?

  4. Has anyone heard about whether Sacramento is on Sprint's LTE plans? I've been looking all over for some mention. Most of the Bay is on the list. I've even read somewhere that Stockton was a Sprint LTE test market. I am desperate for any info. I'm sure I'm not the only one. Thanks in advance.

Stockton is not a test market. That was misinformation started by TechnoBuffalo. You can read our response to that here: http://s4gru.com/index.php?/blog/1/entry-162-clarification-on-reported-new-sprint-4g-lte-cities/

We report all the advanced info about Network Vision that is fit for print. The Upper Central Valley market will not begin NV/LTE deployment until sometime in 2013. There is no more information than that at this time.

Even Sprint doesn't even know more than that currently. They are completing design and planning on Round Three and Four markets this summer and fall. After that planning and permitting work is complete, they will start compiling scheduling for 2013. I think the earliest we will start reporting meaningful 2013 deployment info is Mid Fall.

  5. eHRPD should only be available on NV sites. So far, here in rural New Mexico, our EVO LTE is producing almost identical speeds to the E4GT and OG EVO's we have on EVDO. And, of course, we have no eHRPD or NV here.

  6. Here are pics of the new complimentary EVO LTE cover I received from Sprint this morning. Electric blue. It's definitely an inexpensive case, but it looks and feels good for what it is. And it's very much appreciated, since I expected nothing and don't fault Sprint for what happened with the delays.

  7. I have kept it in CDMA/LTE for 24 hours now and it doesn't *appear* to have any extra battery drain. This thing seems to sip the juice.

  8. Even with handsets side by side' date=' comparisons of reception are not very scientific. This is especially true at 1900 MHz, as wavelengths are only ~6 inches long, hence Rayleigh fading can be highly localized and variable.

Understood. But the difference between the E4GT and the OG EVO was always noticeable. I guess I was expecting a different result with the EVO LTE than what I am observing after 12 hours.

  9. I have a weaker signal here on my EVO LTE than on my E4GT, which is quite shocking. As most of you know, I live next to a Sprint site. My E4GT gets -65dBm consistently. The EVO LTE has been -76dBm since it was activated late this morning.

Whereas the OG EVO's consistently in the forties and fifties.

  10. Isn't possible that the SGS III wouldn't be tested through Sprint's labs(like the iPhone)?

It is possible. But it would be a first. Previous Samsung devices have gone through the labs. To date, only the iPhone has not. But there is a first for everything, right?

So hope that really comes true and lte everywhere 3g is

Its better than just Sprint's word. Sprint has spent millions on deployment plans and scheduling to bring LTE to every site with Network Vision upgrades. It is coming. Even to those remote and obscure sites out in the middle of a cornfield.

When people complain about Sprint's past deployments, it almost always because of assumptions about deployment. Not any official or inside deployment info. Everyone assumed Sprint and Clearwire were taking WiMax nationwide, but Sprint never said that. Because they never actually planned to do that.

However, Sprint says with LTE that they are going nationwide this time. And also we have the evidence if that and continually report on it. This is completely a different deployment. Not only unprecedented with Sprint. But actually, unprecedented with any carrier in America...ever.
