  1. We actually had the first article on this: http://s4gru.com/ind...-webinar-today/ All other tech sites followed after us. S4GRU actually sat in on the Webinar. The only tech site present. Robert
  2. I have closed this thread. We have started a new KAW-DAW thread: http://s4gru.com/ind...-drop-a-word-2/ We got to over 6,000 posts. Time for retirement. Thanks for all who enjoyed it and participated. Robert
  3. We have started a new thread for KAW-DAW. The old thread got to over 6,000 entries! If you've never played Keep a Word, Drop a Word before, it is really simple. See below... Example Post 1: customer satisfaction Example Post 2: tough customer Example Post 3: tough break Example Post 4: break wind Comprendo? See, it is really simple. For each new post just keep a word from the previous post and drop the other and replace with a new one. Please KEEP your posts to JUST 2 WORDS, but if you are stuck and must to, you can include a "helper" word, like: a, the, an, etc. BUT the next post CANNOT use that "helper" word as the one they keep for the next post. You can however use the same "keep" word as the previous poster if you want to. Otherwise just have fun with it and let's see where it goes? If things get stalled out just start a new line of thought by making a new 2 word saying. I will kick off the game below...
  4. I have combined three separate LTE coverage map threads into one. Robert
  5. It's an active deployment area. There is going to be a lot of variability initially. Robert
  6. Over at network.sprint.com, they are showing upgrades that are a part of Ericsson's National Network Management contract. Ericsson is supposed to go around and add capacity and incremental backhaul on legacy sites as a part of their contract. You are seeing this work here. Network Vision is a completely different scope then this. Here at S4GRU, we only monitor Network Vision upgrades and deployment. We don't focus on the daily maintenance aspects of the Sprint Network. Hopefully this helps clarify some things. Robert
  7. No batteries in Dallas or no GS3's? Did you post in the wrong thread? Robert via CM9 Kindle Fire using Forum Runner
  8. Wow...two positive marks for the Justice Dept. I cannot remember the last time that I really felt a real concern for consumers ever in the past. And this is not a Democrat or Republican comment. I cannot recall any previous Administration really standing up for consumers like this. Lets see if they continue. Robert via CM9 Kindle Fire using Forum Runner
  9. Typically when your download speeds are bad but upload speeds are good, that is typically a backhaul problem. When both upload and download speeds are crap, its usually a capacity problem and more carriers are needed. There are exceptions to this rule. Robert via CM9 Kindle Fire using Forum Runner

  11. I don't know enough about batteries to say definitively, but I don't believe so. Its likely related to the devices themselves. Robert via CM9 Kindle Fire using Forum Runner
  12. In most cases I leave the device on after its done charging. For instance, if I am at my office and it is charging and it finishes at 2 PM. Should I unplug it and then it is 90% when I leave the office? Because if I leave it plugged in, it will be 100% when I leave. Robert via CM9 Kindle Fire using Forum Runner
  13. As themuffinman points out above, Sprint LTE devices cannot roam on Verizon LTE. Sprint LTE devices do not have capability to use LTE on 700MHz, only 1900MHz. Additionally, Sprint and Verizon do not have LTE roaming deals. Robert
  14. "Htc evo 4g lte" is not the proper thread title for what is in the Original Post. Please make your Thread titles more descriptive. I have changed the thread title. Robert
  15. Waco has the most solid coverage of any Sprint LTE city at the moment. It is because Sprint and Ericsson used it as a FIT area. Robert

  20. by Robert Herron Sprint 4G Rollout Updates Saturday, July 14, 2012 - 8:46 AM MDT It's been quite a beehive of activity around the S4GRU forums as members proclaim that 4G icons are appearing live in the Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex, Houston, San Antonio and in isolated spots around the Austin market (most notably around Waco). 4G LTE is appearing in these markets. I have now received confirmation from sources within Sprint, that they have indeed stopped blocking LTE connections in the DFW, Houston, San Antontio and Austin markets. LTE is now discoverable for Sprint LTE devices in these locations where LTE sites have been completed. Every fully configured and signed off LTE site in these markets is now live. Currently, this leaves only th Atlanta market to be lit up of the July 15th announced cities. Our sources do not know when that is yet, but feel like it may even still be later today. There is a flurry of activity occurring. There have also been reports of some LTE sites appearing in the Chicago market by S4GRU members. But these are very scattered and inconsistent. Please note that the live LTE sites in the Austin market is very limited. Mostly around Waco. But there are a very few isolated sites live in the Austin metro area. We are awaiting details on locations. Live DFW LTE sites as of the last S4GRU update. There are more sites live at this time than what we are reporting. But more coverage will be added weekly. Live Houston LTE sites as of the last S4GRU update. There are more sites live at this time than what we are reporting. But more coverage will be added weekly. Live San Antonio LTE sites as of the last S4GRU update. There are more sites live at this time than what we are reporting. But more coverage will be added weekly. Live Waco LTE sites as of the last S4GRU update. There are more sites live at this time than what we are reporting, even a few around the City of Austin. But more coverage will be added weekly.
  21. I get 18-20 hours of life out of the GS3 with moderate usage. But I get about 24-26 hours out of the EVO LTE with similar usage. And about 14-16 hours out of the GNex. For me, heavy usage can really take a toll out of the GS3 more than the EVO. GS3 battery life is more than acceptable. But the EVO just wins on battery. I'm wondering if the increase in RAM is the making the difference in battery life. Robert via CM9 Kindle Fire using Forum Runner
