  1. I'm not in a place where I can check now, but if memory serves, the OG EVO did not support CDMA 800. Only 850 Cellular, which was commonly labeled 800 back then. Someone can fact check that for me. Robert via Nexus 7 using Forum Runner
  2. My concern with nTelos is what band they place LTE in. It seems to me that they do not have the PCS resources on their own to deploy a 5x5 LTE carrier. Unless Sprint allows them to use G Block (which I saw no reference to), then they may deploy it in AWS. It appears to me they have enough AWS resources free to deploy LTE on it. Since their planned LTE devices support AWS and PCS, the PCS support may just be for Sprint roaming. We will have to wait for more details to confirm anything though. The problem with AWS LTE deployment is Sprint devices would not be able to use it. Except for maybe the iPhone 5. Robert via Nexus 7 using Forum Runner
  3. No. Samsung and Alcatel Lucent are deploying their 3G with 4G upgrades. It is just Ericsson. It is believed to be a hardware issue. Robert

  5. Where are they falling behind? Because if you say Florida, that was Sprint who called them off because of bird nesting issues. In most cases, where the OEM's have fallen behind is not because of their problems. Like backhaul. Backhaul is supplied by Sprint through different contracts. If backhaul is not in place on time and the OEM/subcontractors cannot begin work, that is not their fault. Robert
  6. Just for the record, in most Ericsson markets, they have been deploying 4G upgrades only at first and come back and do the 3G upgrades later. So the likelihood of the 3G being upgraded at the Miami sites is pretty low at this point. Robert

  14. I think it's a pretty arbitrary decision. I have disagreed with all their blocking schemes, except backhaul related. Robert
  15. Sprint has been delayed all over Florida. Sprint's subcontractors ran into issues with the EPA and USFWS over Osprey nesting. In order to prevent being fined, they pulled off all work in Florida as a precaution until after the October 1st nesting season ended. So work just started back in Orlando, Tampa, Miami/West Palm, Jacksonville and SW Florida markets just a few weeks ago. Some sporadic LTE signals will start appearing probably in the next few weeks. Sprint is now working toward trying to have a launchable amount of service in most Florida markets by the end of the year. Robert
  16. Signal strength/distance can increase up to 20% on a completed NV site over legacy. However, the final determination depends on downtilt. In rural sites, the distance will likely go up to 20% further. But on an urban/suburban site, where they deploy steep downtilt, it may not extend out coverage at all, but will make the signal within the coverage stronger a little stronger (from 1-4dBm on average). The dynamics at each site will be quite different. There will be no way to really guess how your specific sites will be impacted until complete. -95dBm RSSI is the threshold for LTE. So I feel pretty good about telling people that if they get 1x at -95dBm or better now, they will get LTE there too sometime before the build out is complete. If someone has between -95dBm and maybe -99dBm RSSI now from 1x, they may get enough of a boost from a Network Vision site to be within the LTE 1900 footprint. Anything -100dBm or worse, it is not going to happen. LTE 800 will be the only thing that may help them. In most instances, the stronger signal from a completed NV site will only be worth one bar, at most. Depending on how close your device is to switching to the next "bar" level, and how many bars your device shows. OEM's vary bars dramatically from each other and other devices. They are very subjective. Robert
