Midcontinent has been the best ISP I've ever had. I cannot complain about my 200Mbps connection from them. But I'll take a Gig, when they offer it here in 2017.

hrm do i want gigabit so baddddd. to bad i have time warner and the comcast buyout is screwing us all.

The only nice thing I have seen coming from Time Warner Cable is their new Maxx service which will be a free upgrade to everyone.

It will be nice once midco finshes up I will have the choice of 2 different gigabit providers. Between midco and paul bunyan communications nearly all of northern Minnesota will have gigabit. Love it.

Free is deceptive.

 

Existing customers will get upgraded based on the tier of internet they are paying for already. In my case, I was paying for "Turbo" internet speeds, which were 20/2. When I got my "free" upgrade, the speed went to 100/10. 

 

Of course I already purchased my own modem, but if I was leasing it, I would have had to replace mine with a new one.

 

My father-in-law got upgraded to his new speeds with a $10 charge on his account above the standard internet cost. Unfortunately TWC didn't bother telling him that he needed a new modem, so for the last 4 months, he was paying an extra $10 and still stuck with a DOCSIS 2.0 modem.

From what I've read, it appears they are replacing incompatible hardware after the upgrade is available. At the end of October, I had to have a technician come to my house to figure out why I kept getting hiccups in my connection as well as an inability to maintain a steady wifi connection. He replaced my SB6183 modem and gave me a new Arris DG1670A as well as said he would have to check the entire run between my house and the source of internet to find out why my internet is jumpy and not solid. He also told me it would be better for me anyways for the upcoming changes that TWC is making in my area. (this is when I looked up what he was referring to and found TWC Max) I have looked and haven't seen any changes in my bill since the swap

      You could also just sign up for Project Genesis directly, $400 for the moto edge+ 2023 and $25/month for service.

      Your referring to the $25.00 a month Infinite Unlimited plan?  I don't see any other plans on there even cheaper than that on their website.  I was looking at the Motorola 2023 Edge fwiw as well for $10.00 a month.

      A heavy n41 overlay as an acquisition condition would be a win for customers, and eventually a win for T-Mobile as that might be enough to preclude VZW/AT&T adding C-Band for FWA due to spreading the market too thinly (which means T-Mobile would just have local WISPs/wireline ISPs as competition). USCC spacing (which is likely for contiguous 700 MHz LTE coverage in rural areas) isn't going to be enough for contiguous n41 anyway, and I doubt they'll densify enough to get there.

      Boost Infinite with a rainbow SIM (you can get it SIM-only) is the cheapest way, at $25/mo, to my knowledge; the cheaper Boost Mobile plans don't run on Dish native. Check Phonescoop for n70 support on a given phone; the Moto G 5G from last year may be the cheapest unlocked phone with n70 though data speeds aren't as good as something with an X70 or better modem.

      Continuing the USCC discussion, if T-Mobile does a full equipment swap at all of USCC's sites, which they probably will for vendor consistency, and if they include 2.5 on all of those sites, which they probably will as they definitely have economies of scale on the base stations, that'll represent a massive capacity increase in those areas over what USCC had, and maybe a coverage increase since n71 will get deployed everywhere and B71 will get deployed any time T-Mobile has at least 25x25, and maybe where they have 20x20. Assuming this deal goes through (I'm betting it does), I figure I'll see contiguous coverage in the area of southern IL where I was attempting to roam on USCC the last time I was there, though it might be late next year before that switchover happens.
