It varies greatly depending on the setup of each site. In densely populated areas, sites can be configured to only cover about a block or two. In rural areas signals can be usable up to 10 miles from the site, in some places more. It depends on geography, weather conditions, what device you're using, all sorts of things.

 

All things being equal, the LTE currently being deployed by Sprint will have a foot print generally the same as their 3G coverage, just a tiny bit smaller.

LTE coverage or coverage in general? Pretty much anywhere you get 3G you will have LTE. Work is still going on. Every Sprint tower will get upgraded. They're not even close to being done in the Minnesota market.

Thank you. I get full 100% signal strength where I live and its 3G, so I will get 4G LTE someday.

 

Just a side question Virgin Mobile Can Use Every sprint tower right so looking at sprint coverage is the same as looking at virgin mobile coverage???

Sorry, I missed that. Sprint and Virgin mobile coverage is the same, when on network. The difference is, is that Sprint postpaid customers can roam on other networks. Virgin Mobile customers do not roam off network, and only have a signal when on the Sprint network.

I've heard this rumor before, but it has never been substantiated. I think a lot of Virgin customers assume that because of the poor network.

 

Also, you can get a Sprint customer and Virgin customer side by side and see different results. But you can do that with two Sprint customers too. Because of different channels, sectors and towers. It's hard to get identical results side by side in an urban/suburban location.

When I get 4g its very fast over 12mbs and im near elk river, mn. Im on virgin mobile and have not noticed any bad performance.

 

I switched from straight talk to virgin mobile for the 4G lte.
