Anybody watching the towers down by the fairgrounds/Crew Stadium? I haven't been down for any Crew games this season, but I'll be down for the USMNT v Mex game in a month and hope for LTE at the stadium. Used to get great Wimax coverage there.

I'll try to keep you updated on the area. You can also use the Columbus Spreadsheet and Map in my signature as well for details.

Today's post has been brought to you by Sprint, the letters GN and the number 2.

When was the last tower brought online with lte?

We don't know if it's live and broadcasting a signal yet, but 7/1. It's outside of Bellville, Ohio if you want to make a trip.

As far as the tower behind Groveport high school, if you turn on the street and go by the Imagine school all the way in the rear tou can see the equipment through a normal fence. I just have no clue what is what.

if you want to see the stuff live and in person, go down to the rohr road site. from the middle of the street which is where I Sat if you look at the Tower you'll see the electric meters in front of you and to the right of the tower is two cabinets look almost identical. Those are the new base station. the antennas look like I don't know dreadlocks hanging off the bottom.

They do look pretty damn ridiculous. The only time it's hard to spot them is if the top RRU (usually 800) is above the rack and bottom RRU is below.

Check your PMs amcferrin90.

Another site beginning work: old Brice @ Winchester Pike. One more sullivant @ green street by 315. When they get some actual milestones I will post pics and to the WIP thread.

So, when the discussion about clusters is had, how many sites or square miles makes up a cluster? It seems deployment is filling in some gaps. Nothing turned on yet though.

Rohr Rd. As of now, it's pouring so its the best I could do.

Was there to be a picture included with this?

It's hard to tell how they're going to handle Columbus with clusters. The rural areas have been coming online in clusters of 3 or 4, but they're usually the only sites in the area.

So the plan today is to head up to Belleville and check to make sure this tower is live. I'll do that around 12:00.

Appreciate it! Do you have Multiwindow on your S3?

If you can multiwindow the LTE "Enginerring" screen with Sensorly Map screenshot it from each sector would be hell of a lot of help.

That site is/was also a GMO site. If you can take pictures as well.

No 800 for a few weeks for me now.....

The problem may be that your 1900 coverage is working good enough. The public PRLs that are out there have a higher priority on 1900 than 800. So unless the bottom falls out of 1900, it won't drop to 800 as a fallback.

My 1900 is definitely not working good enough.... Drop calls all the time, come on backhaul!!

Can I load a one of the prls from here and test 800 some? If so, where are they located?

That's only on iPhones it's like that.  The EVO LTE, S3, HTC One, S4, etc all have 800SMR as scan first on the same priority level as PCS.  But it is possible for your phone to become "stuck" on PCS since it is at priority level 1 and your phone has no need to scan for anything else.

The Note2 has no 800SMR in the stock PRL right now due to an issue some areas reported with 800SMR.  I've only found Shentel users stating they had issues but they removed it for the entire US.

It just stinks, I need 800 where I live(use airave) and drop signal getting to my house. When I was locking onto 800 a few weeks ago/month ago, I wasn't dropping those same calls.

    • A heavy n41 overlay as an acquisition condition would be a win for customers, and eventually a win for T-Mobile as that might be enough to preclude VZW/AT&T adding C-Band for FWA due to spreading the market too thinly (which means T-Mobile would just have local WISPs/wireline ISPs as competition). USCC spacing (which is likely for contiguous 700 MHz LTE coverage in rural areas) isn't going to be enough for contiguous n41 anyway, and I doubt they'll densify enough to get there.
    • Boost Infinite with a rainbow SIM (you can get it SIM-only) is the cheapest way, at $25/mo, to my knowledge; the cheaper Boost Mobile plans don't run on Dish native. Check Phonescoop for n70 support on a given phone; the Moto G 5G from last year may be the cheapest unlocked phone with n70 though data speeds aren't as good as something with an X70 or better modem.
    • Continuing the USCC discussion, if T-Mobile does a full equipment swap at all of USCC's sites, which they probably will for vendor consistency, and if they include 2.5 on all of those sites, which they probably will as they definitely have economies of scale on the base stations, that'll represent a massive capacity increase in those areas over what USCC had, and maybe a coverage increase since n71 will get deployed everywhere and B71 will get deployed any time T-Mobile has at least 25x25, and maybe where they have 20x20. Assuming this deal goes through (I'm betting it does), I figure I'll see contiguous coverage in the area of southern IL where I was attempting to roam on USCC the last time I was there, though it might be late next year before that switchover happens.
    • Forgot to post this, but a few weeks ago I got to visit these small cells myself! They're spread around Grant park and the surrounding areas, but unfortunately none of the mmwave cells made it outside of the parks along the lake into the rest of downtown. I did spot some n41 small cells around downtown, but they seemed to be older deployments limited to 100mhz and performed poorly.
    • What is the cheapest way to try Dish's wireless network?  Over the past year I've seen them add their equipment to just about every cell site here, I'm assuming just go through Boost's website?  What phones are Dish native?
