I forgot to post this this morning. Seems that Sprint will offer the V60. My buddy at Sprint HQ says more will be said Monday. Lets see if this pans out.

  2. I checked with Google and it's only a CDMA thing, but again, if a (GSM) phone has the radios to access CDMA frequencies, I thought it would have a setting for PRL. Apparently they don't. Oh well, I learn something new today.

  3. Actually my question should have been more specific, since PRl is usually associated with CDMA phones, but I'm curious being that some T-Mobile phones allow roaming on Verizon and Sprint, would they also have a PRL setting?

Update - manually checked and got the download/install prompt.  went ahead and took the plunge - new software version is G850U20f.  PRL version was bumped finally from 55572 that had been in place forever to 55574.  SCP seems the same for what I use it for at least as described above....I'm showing parked on TMo B66 out the gate.

So far the fingerprint sensor (knocking on wood here) seems a little more....consistent than it was (for lack of a better way of describing it) on unlock usage attempts/testing.  I'd intermittently had issues with it registering properly many times and always had to use the fallback unlock method.

Refresh my memory, how do you check the PRL on an LG phone?

I have it configured to automatically launch and begin mapping when I connect to my car's Bluetooth. Then it exits when Bluetooth disconnects. Cellmapper has built in Intents for a graceful exit that you can use with Tasker.

    hmmm, I like that idea.

I've done quite a bit of mapping of T-Mobile's network on Cellmapper in the past week. You can see that a lot of the sites I hit are actually missing bands.

I actually get more info out of your map than I do from the official Ookla 5G Map. The city that never sleeps seems knocked out cold.

I figured out how to get to Field Test/Engineering Screens on my LG V60 DS (*#546368#*600#).  I went to the Downtown site with the 5G NR live and went to the Engineering Screen and see this.

Excited by the prospect of finding n41 in WA State, but highly skeptical, I decide to try other NR bands only.  I was thinking that maybe the phone was overriding my selection and forcing it back to n71, though requested not to.

I went back to auto select NR bands, and reset. It then went thru its normal reset...first 4G LTE and then settling back on 5G indicated.

OK.  Try with n2 only.  Nothing, stays on 4G LTE.  They with n12 only.  Nothing.  When it comes to NR, it would connect to the local site using n71 only, n41 only, or automatic.  No other NR band selections.

Does this mean NR is broadcasting on n41 in my town?  I cannot definitively say. I did run speedtests. But these are not revealing. On n71 I was getting approximately 6-8Mbps up and down. On supposed n41, I was getting approx 10-12Mbps up and down. On 4G LTE I was getting 50-60Mbps. But I hear new 5G sites start out very slow and then drastically approve.

So I don't know what to think.  I can't really get access to this site to take pictures of equipment.  Thoughts?

Thanks for the code. Took me a few minutes to finally get to the right spot. (*#546368#*600#) then -->Field Test -->Modem Settings-->Engineering Mode-. Supposedly on my V60 I also get 5G as per speedtest (connecting to the server in Wayne NJ which is 35 miles away from my location in JFK. I performed the same steps you did last night and also ran a speedtest and it was 10.9 download and 13.1 upload. This morning tried it again, set it to do N41 and got the following screenshot below. I then ran a speedtest I got connected to Syosset, NY and my speeds dramatically increased. Today it is 36.6 download and 28.7 upload.  This is the highest I've ever gotten on 5G with the V60. usually it falls back to 4G with better speeds.

I only update phone every few years. How has the telephoto aspect improved since the v20 days? For example, a cell site? Thanks

I haven't taken any myself but the Tech Preacher did. At time index 4:11 to 4:20 in his camera test video he shows a tower at wide and 10x zoom.

TMo is having a BOGO on this device.  So I couldn't resist.  Ordered today one for me and my wife.  I'm excited to finally upgrade to my first 5G phone!  Thanks for your info, or I wouldn't have probably done the Dual Screen.

Somegadgetguy does a very good review on it.

Anybody else get their T-Mobile email today?

    Dear Sprint Customers –

I hope you’ve seen the news – but in case you missed it…I’m very excited to tell you that Sprint is officially part of the T-Mobile family! And together, as a new, bigger and better company that will be called T-Mobile, we are bringing the best of both companies together for YOU. We are already building a world-leading 5G network and working even harder to deliver unmatched value – ...

Over at youtube, sneed mobile states (at time index 4:46) that T-Mobile CEO Mike Sievert is emailing Sprint customers stating that they will keep all of their stuff like hotspot, Hulu, pricing etc. Is this the same email that was mentioned last Friday  (in the quote above?)

  10. This thread is starting to look like a me only blog. lol
Anyway, 2 weeks with the phone (with dual-case on T-Mobile) and all I can say is wow. Just wow. Better camera than the Note 10+ (even on auto mode), in manual mode, holy cow. The dual screen is really cool especially when doing work stuff. Haven't tried the games yet.
Signal wise, the first week I admit the signal sucked on T-Mobile 5G unless you go back down to 4G and even then, Sprints 4G and 5G are really really good on my Note 10+. But in the second week, they must have done something that I'm getting very good 4G and actually not bad (but still not as great as Sprint) 5G. The battery life on this thing is a wet dream. lasts so long it's not funny. Now with the dual case I say it cuts it down but battery still lasts longer than the Note 10+. After discovering the stylus capability and getting my stylus, I can finally say that I have a suitable Note replacement.
I even made a side by side table of the stylus functions for both the Note 10+ and V60 here.

  11. I hate when folks lie. T-Mobile site shows the phone in stock at the main store, so I go and they said they had 2 and were already sold. Funny since they open at 10AM and I was the third in line. The two people in front of me only went to pay their bill. So I ordered it. Another 2-3 days of Heinz Ketchup anticipation. lol

btw, am I the only one getting this phone in this thread. :)

  12. So according to 9to5google, the Phone will be available from T-Mobile at $799.99 without the dual-screen accessory and at $899 with it. Link

  13. I'm sure most of you that got this phone has probably seen every video imaginable made about it, but this reviewer covers so much that I have not seen covered elsewhere. She truly showcases the neat things the phone can do.

    V60 not coming to Sprint

Yeah, thats a bummer, but I guess the reasoning is because Sprint is merging into T-Mobile. Hopefully T-Mobile turns on the Sprint access soon. So far my T-Mobile OnePlus 7T Pro Mclaren 5G isn't that great compared to my Samsung Note 10+ on 4G. I was going to go for the G8 ThinkQ because I love that second screen case. Didn't get it even with the excellent Best Buy discount since one has to wait over 6 weeks for the cover. But once that V60 ThinkQ  comes out, I think I may go for that one instead. Especially since they are including the additional screen cover. In the meantime I'll pay off the Mclaren and use that as a trade in for the V60.

  15. That Best Buy deal of $6.26 a month for 24 months is pretty neat.

the small print says "Total savings of $598.80 includes $200.00 Best Buy instant discount and $16.61 a month carrier bill credit for 24 months. Bill credits end when phone balance is paid off."

So if the price of the phone is $799.99 and there is a discount savings of $598.80 = $201.99 and if the monthly payment is $6.26 for 24 months ($150.24) the final balance is $51.75 or am I calculating this wrong?

Wish it came with the dual screen attachment.
