By changing the scan time on my G3, it picks up LTE after losing it in about 20-50 seconds. Since I have a weak signal in my house, the SCP chimes were going off about 3 times every 5 minutes. Setting the scan time back to normal, it was still picking up LTE within 3 minutes of losing the signal.
Band priorities will not affect scan time, just the order in which Bands are scanned. And even then it's only the initial scan. If a band is scanned, but not found, it could possibly add to the wait time. The only values that can be used are 0 and 1 for priorities.
Why can scan times be altered on the G3 but not the Nexus 5?

Here's the relevant part http://www.reddit.com/r/android/comments/2ip6bm/cpuid_of_motorola_shamu_nexus/cl48e4j
If anyone took time to dig through all the comments back and forth from the OP, it was interesting to note that when asked who his friend worked for, he replied "I can't say but will tell you that I live in OP, KS" (Overland Park, KS)
Seemed to be indicating it was a Sprint phone.

Also, I tried downloading textra and setting that as my default text app,and I still didn't get texts.

Turn on google voice features in hangouts
So I went back and turned this on.
Why does it only work when it says ”sending from Google voice number” and if I turn that off and it says "send from my Sprint number" it won't work?
Are these part of the issues with GV and Sprint integration?
I can't figure out how to un-integrate them either.
-
So after switching back to a Nexus 5,i started using Hangouts for SMS texting, which I've come to like.
But then I needed a voicemail app, so I figured why not use Google Voice.
After dealing with other learning curves of Google Voice, today suddenly I'm not getting texts in Hangouts. After realizing no texts were coming through, I checked Google Voice. They were all recieved in that app, but with no notifications. However, I checked the settings and I ha e it checked to get my texts via the messaging app instead of the Voice app. Setting is also applied as main texting app in Hangouts.
Any ideas guys? I can't seem to get these apps to play nice.

I know, but is it supposed to be Moto X like in size? This whole debacle is so confusing.
I'm putting off buying a new phone until we figure out what's going on with this. And my EVO LTE is really showing its age...
No, from all indications the Motorola S (Shamu) is 5.9". Still unclear if it's the Nexus X or not although most have assumed it is.
-
And what exactly is the Moto Shamu??
The device name for what many assume is the nexus 6/x. It's what the "leaks" about the device have it named by.
-
Back to the Nexus X talk - it still seems like something is missing with this whole speculation about the phone.
A few articles have mentioned that in the leaked pics of the "Nexus X" you don't see any Nexus branding. Some of them are wondering if the phone being leaked is in fact a "Motorola Shamu" and not the Nexus.
-
Yeah, I don't know how much of that is related to scan times, but I know the scan times are pretty annoying on the Nexus 5

I like something that looks like the stock Samsung voicemail looks like. How does Google voice work?
-
Ok, didn't realize I would have to dial in for voicemail. Hate that.
What app have you guys used?
-
How much longer do we have to wait?!
Last year's nexus launched at the end of October on Halloween.
As far as Moto X goes, or a similar device, who knows. Probably sometime in November.
-
Completely true.
I'm looking forward to this.

Seen some indications that the developers running Android L on their N5's were reporting 30% better battery life.

I'm enjoying my trip back to the N5 so far. Battery life is reasonable (for the use I'm giving it) and I really like going back down to a smaller device.
Going to give it a couple days before I decide to keep this and sell my Note 3 though. I have an upgrade coming in May, so I won't have to wait long if I decide to get something new.
-
I personally hope it is phablet size. I have been feeling the N5 is a little small compared to notes and the 1+1.
Of course its a little small comparably, they're not in the same category.

The specs seem to suggest that they're moving upmarket to challenge the iPhone and Note.
If you want a near-Nexus experience at that price point, there's the Moto X 2014.
Not on Sprint. And still was $499 anywaysanyways.

$550 minimum off contract, again IMO.
That would be a fail on their part. Part of the beauty of the Nexus was being able to pick it up from Google Play off contract for $350-400. At $550, most would have to use an upgrade or easy pay option through their carrier.

patiently awaiting sprint inventory leaks
Yes, where's EV Leaks when you really need it.

I like big phones! And really is .2" (less than 1/4") that big a difference. I mean the NOTE at 5.7 is no longer considered ridiculous. And from my understanding the iPhone 6+ is outselling the iPhone 6. If this phone comes in around the $400 mark on Google Play. I will be all over it! If it really is 5.9" it is getting close enough that I might be able to put down my Nexus 7, and use this new Nexus as my dual use device.
For some, yes the device is just too big.
I have a Note 3 and plan to go back to a smaller device. I am a 2 handed user when it comes to typing anyways, but there are many times when I have to shuffle my grip to reach a portion of the screen now, let alone if you add another .25 inch the the device/display.

Negative. The Note Edge has been announced on all four U.S. national providers. It is launching in Korea first.
And only on a "limited production" basis.

Sprint only offered $116 for my 32gb n5 from Google play store w/multiple wireless charger and brand new ballistic case
You can get alot more than that through eBay.

Maybe we'll get lucky and they'll release a 5.2" version later as some have speculated.
