Another issue that I've noticed, is that when I'm on Wifi calling I am unable to send text messages... This doesn't make any sense to me.  Per SCP, it looks like I'm connected to 1x and wifi, but when I try to send a text message it simply states "Not sent. Tap to try again."  When I tap this, it simply 'refreshes' and says the same thing.  Anyone else have the same issue?  I wonder if this is somehow MB related?  I do have a MagicBox at home.  With it being connected to 1x though, I wouldn't think I would be attached to the MB.

EDIT: The confusion continues... I think Wifi Calling is like oddly NOT being enabled or something?  I just turned on airplane mode, made a phone call.  Very clearly noticed wifi-calling everywhere and then sent a text message.  Went right thru...  Something is weird.

I have no issues with texting over wifi, the only way texting will not work over wifi is if you are getting group messages or include any multimedia items such as videos, pics or audios. Group messaging is considered MMS so it will only send/receive once service is restored. Any input is welcome.

Loving this feature since my building is really old and service does not penetrate inside the building, its not just Sprint but the same applies to all carriers. Recently installed my old Magic Box 2 at my office and at least one side of the building has LTE and great speeds. No more 3G or no service inside the building.

  2. Just ordered an extra one,  a 3rd Gen for the office as I'm always on 3G but did not get a confirmation email yet according to the rep he will call me tomorrow to confirm and provide tracking number. He mentioned that I been with Sprint since 2005 and how do I like the service, I stated that it works well for me and thanked me.

I figured out that we can connect to the Passpoint Secure wifi network by manually specifying AKA as the authentication method. I'm assuming the same works for any other Hotspot 2.0 provider that Sprint has a partnership with.

Yup, works pretty well at LAX and JFK. What airport did you used it at?

Agreed. In my case it's because 1x is insanely congested, and I've had to stop using Sprint all together for phone calls as a result (since I can't understand anyone and they can't understand me). I'm going to be really pissed off if they don't enable it for the Pixel 2. So much so that it might cause me to switch carriers...

Can we tweet Sprint or Marcelo even tho he is no longer is the CEO? lol or who should we push to get this update. Its ridiculous a flagship phone from Google doesn't have these features.

Absolutely none. FCC certification needed for VoLTE, but there is no reason for no wifi calling on the Pixel 1 and 2. It's literally just a config file with the proper parameters. Same with VoLTE if they would submit the recertification. No special or different software

Thanks for the details. I was reading that some provisioning is required from Sprint to enable the features. This just plain bothers me.... ? Wish we I had Wi-Fi calling since my work walls are cement and signal barely penetrates the building :(

Can someone confirm the specific Sprint sim card required for these phones? Part number would be great!

  7. Was at LAX and noticed that one of my iPhones connected to WiFi automatically with a text stating (provided by Passpoint). For us pixel owners if you need WiFi at airports, it will not connect automatically but if you open up wireless networks, select Passpoint Secure  (you will see it locked) Modify EAP Method and select  “AKA” no need for username or password. Select Connect, you will be able to connect to the network. I was able to stream Hulu with no issues. Will see if it works at JFK as well when I leave.

Can confirm that WiFi connects automatically at JFK as well.

They changed the policy within the last year. You used to be able to get one for free through International Chat, but they closed that loophole. No way that I'm aware of to get one without paying $10.

Last time I requested a SIM from Sprint for my Moto X Pure, they shipped me 3 different SIMs. The last one they sent is was incorrect and the rep insisted it would work. I ended up visiting  6 Sprint stores and found it at a Store an hour away from home. At that time, shipping was free.

When I got My Pixel 2 XL, went to a corporate store and got the SIM for free, third party stores wanted to charge $10 bucks for the SIM

Just placed an order for a Pixel 2 XL from the Google Store.  They are offering $200 off when you use thier 0% financing and a free 2nd charger.  My Nexus 6P had to have a warranty battery replacement a few months back and is already exhibiting battery issues again (shutting off at 5%-10%).  They offered me another $150 off for my 6P, so I figured why not.

Very excited to get this in the next few days, but I'll need to get an update SIM.  Is LTEGSM 4FF REM ISIM V2 correct?

Check out the link below, it provides info about the SIM you need. I dont know the exact description but pretty sure it will help.

You can set the brightness to the lowest level, which causes it to go off from 10pm-6am. The interval is hard coded currently and can't be changed.

I set it to Dark Mode, and the screen did shut off around 10pm, but when I woke up around 3am the screen was on. Got up at 4 again for work and screen was still on.
