  1. I was doing really well without the blocks, but today complete anarchy. Blocked on Sprint network, my work WiFi, and my home WiFi. What in the world, TAPATALK.
I've been doing well without the Pro version and just the free version installed with VIP status. So don't you jinx me!

  2. I got my first cloudfront block last night.

I had used the newer, free version for a long time with no problems. Last night I decided to do two things. First, I installed the old Pro version of Tapatalk. Second, I asked Tapatalk for VIP status since I had previously purchased Pro, and they gave it to me. At some point in all that playing around I got blocked. First time ever.

I have uninstalled the older Pro version and am now using the new version again (but now with VIP status). We'll see how this goes.

Multiple versions in the playstore....Which version of Tapatalk are you using?

I'm using the free version. I had purchased the Pro version a long time ago. For some reason or other I decided to grab the free version. I think there was a feature at some point that the free version was getting before the Pro version and so switched. They say you can ask for 'VIP status' in the free version if you purchased the Pro in past. I haven't done that yet.

Your screen shot shows you're using 7.1.1 of TapaTalk. Is that right? I have been running 7.1.6 on my Galaxy S7 as well as my Pixel 2.

  5. Ive had two hardware issues.
The first is that the camera lens cracked. Very odd because the phone is never in the same pocket as the keys. Also very off because hundreds of people online complained of the same issue.
Second issue is that the black paint or whatever it is on my home button has peeled off in the middle. Hasnt affected use, but looks ugly.
Camera lenses being susceptible to cracking was one of the issues I've seen and heard, actually.
  6. I'm using free Tapatalk (latest from Play Store) on Android 8.0 and another device on Android 7.0 and have never seen this issue. I also access from Chrome on Windows 7 from a different IP periodically (work PC), but mostly Tapatalk from at least 3 different IPs on two devices.

  7. I received mine on Oct 31st. Activated on November 1st. This is the snappiest phone I've ever used. I'm going to put this thing through some paces before I make a final decision on keeping it. The WiFi seems to lack range (both my GS7 and GS3 hold onto WiFi longer), but that's my only knock on this phone so far.

  9. The operative words are "well cared for."  That, I almost never see among cellphones and their owners.  Some people may say or think they exhibit appropriate concern, but compared to me, they treat their cellphones with all the care of red headed stepchildren.

I take care of my phones. Evidenced by the fact that they're all still working well with nary a scratch. With the exception of the GS7, of course.

With specials thanks to Android 4.4 KitKat and Tapatalk. ;-)
  10. I've owned nothing but Samsung phones for a long time. OG Epic, GS3, GS5, GS7. My grandmother is still using my GS5 and I'm limping along with my old GS3, currently. This is the first one that's died on me. However, I've heard others with less serious hardware issues surrounding their GS7s. Coupled with the Note 7 fiasco and the recent body of work doesn't leave me with a lot of confidence. I've also been less and less excited about the bloated Samsung software experience and lagging updates, especially as these devices age.

  11. My 18 month old S7 has officially bit the dust. Local repair shop says the main board is toast. Sprint techs telling me the same thing. No drops or water ... just quit working all of a sudden. Interesting that the report I got is that the display flex was creased and nearly severed.

Samsung is really pushing the boundaries of squeezing stuff into these geometries. I think I'm done with Galaxy devices.

Looking at the Pixel 2. Smaller battery than the S8, but maybe that means it's cutting fewer corners on the mechanical side of the design shop.

    Anyone have any other suggestions?

Sprint does not have a tool to break down usage day by day except for calls. That being said, from what you’re saying I would guess that USCC roaming was not counted towards your usage. Apps refreshing in the background tend to take up a few megs for every 10 minutes or so. I’d guess the roaming that is appearing in your usage was accidental quick roaming on VZW 1x/EVDO (or possibly but unlikely AT&T LTE).

I just spent several minutes with customer service in a chat window. I asked for data usage for a specific day. They kept telling me, "Yes I can help you with that." And then they kept helping me by directing me to find for myself the monthly data totals in my paper bill and on the web. Good Lord. If the T-Mobile merger would possibly give us better customer service, I'd vote for it.

We’ve had a ton of reports of USCC usage not counting towards people’s roaming data although there has been no official announcement from Sprint.

Out of curiosity, how much data did you use? How much is reflected in your usage report from Sprint?

I didn't meter my data that day. Wasn't planning to test it. But for spending all day in the area with my wife and my 13 year old son (2 iPhones and a GS7) we only have a few hundred kBytes of roaming data to show for it on the bill for the whole month. I usually rack up a few MBytes just piddle farting around town.

Is there a tool Sprint has to break down usage on a daily basis?

  14. I made a trip through US Cellular territory in rural Nebraska a few weeks ago. Took three phones on the trip, all in our ED1500 plan. We have almost no roaming data on our account to show for it. If this holds up and is announced in some formal fashion, I might talk myself out of my legacy plan (that affords me 300 MB in roaming vs the standard 100 MB with the newer plans).

    Anyone else with updated anecdotes?

  15. Just downloaded this thanks for the info. But now for some reason I can't activate this as a device administrator. Won't let me enable or cancel. Had this happened to anyone on the s7e.

I have an S7. Not an Edge, though.

I've had Package Disabler Pro for months and have had zero problems. I also seem to be able to designate apps as administrators without issue.

  16. That's weird. It didn't work for me. Tells me to "tap to retry" and it never works.

For me on my GS7 using Google's messaging app I can send MMS on WiFi only. I think that's relatively new. But SMS still only works if the network radio is on using that app.

Also, this is with WiFi calling disabled.

  17. If roaming is very important to you, the you may as well switch. ED1500 costs almost the same as the new Verizon plans.

When you roam, you're very limited in data usage and Sprint loses money having to pay Verizon. It's a lose-lose situation.

Our extended family lives in US Cellular territory. Our two annual vacation spots are also in US Cellular land. Verizon is spotty in all those places and so wouldn't do me any good. At&t and TM are non existent. US Cellular isn't really an option where we live and work.

So, yeah, that 300 MB of roaming works out perfectly for us.

And I live in Kansas City and enjoy playing for the home town team anyway ;-)

Regardless I don't see myself leaving Sprint mostly for coverage reasons. Weird, but it just works for us.

  18. Here in SoCal, my LTE reception performance got worse after the official 7.0 update. At the same locations & at the same time, my wife's & mom's iPhone SE and Note 3 get LTE whereas I only get 3G at some spots.

Anyone else with worse LTE reception?

Check to see that you aren't roaming in those cases. If you are, check your roaming settings. I think my roaming guard settings got reset after the update.
