So what happens to Google Fi if Sprint merges with T Mobile?

I second the motion. If you weren't already on the beta I would suggest a full wipe. I had lots of issues running release 2 of the beta and after a wipe everything was back to running great again.
Full wipe helped me dramatically.

And they should. What doesn't is MMS messaged over WiFi.My RCS messages go through just fine when connected to wifi.

Not sure I've noticed this before. Doesn't mean it wasn't happening.
Took the update the other day. Looks to be uploading on Band 25 and downloading on Band 26. I would think if these devices had the capability of using different bands for different functions that it would be the other way around ... Down on 25 and up on 26.
Am I reading this right?
Also did a speed test just for fun. (I'm indoors)

Does anyone know if device encryption needs to be turned off before an OS update like this?

Me too. If Google Messenger would incorporate MMS over WiFi (even when not RCS) I'd be happy.Still wish regular mms would send over wifi. Went back to samsung messenger

Back to Samsung stock messaging.

Question: What's the default messenger app that's on the beta some of you guys are running? Still Samsung's app or is Google Messenger the new thing? I had heard Sprint was launching some phones this way.

My GS7 and my wife's iPhone 6 both do not support HD Voice with WiFi calling activated. Connected to WiFi or not.HD voice is dependent on the device. If it uses the old IMS core, it disables HD voice for all calls (source: a senior tech at Sprint who was diagnosing and tracing calls for me) since they're routed internally through the IMS core regardless of where the call originates. With phones that use the new IMS core for wifi calling, it may not disable HD voice.
Basically, Sprint routes calls differently internally depending on whether or not wifi calling is on your account.

I use Google's clock app from the Play Store. It has this feature. Is there a way to skip a alarm? My old mother x pure I could skip a alarm with out disabling it. Like waking up 5 mins before your alarm, just skip it and not having to remember to re-enable it. I could do it from the lock screen and in notifications. I usually wake up a few mins before my alarm and don't want it to wake my fiancé up, now I just unlock my phone then disable the alarm and lock the screen so that the next time I unlock it is notice it needs to be enabled. Thanks.

If it will also do regular MMS over WiFi in lieu of RCS I'll be pleased as punch. I really do like Google's messenger but I'm not leaving the stock messaging app without it.

Interesting. Must be that area they have a Verizon agreement with for roaming. Where I need it to work (91214) my buddy gets perfect Verizon reception but I can't get on the internet at all? Any ideas? I tried the PRL update, etc.

I have heard that, if you make a phone call. It then registers your phone on the network and then you data starts working. I would try that to start. It has been proven to work on uscc, I wouldn't see why it wouldn't work on verizon
I've found that toggling the roaming enables in device settings can work, too. Not sure which switch did the trick ... I was getting frustrated and just started hitting them all.
-
The above happened to me again this weekend in rural Missouri. I was able to fix it by toggling every setting I could get my hands on that was associated with roaming. Not sure which one fixed it, but it works now. Good grief.

We were in Hermann this weekend and experienced something similar. Verizon customers were complaining about their service but those of us with Sprint were roaming on US Cellular's data network with no trouble.
One of the Verizon customers turned to his buddy, "Didn't we buy them already?"

Happened every time to me when roaming in USCC territory. Only fix is to place a phone call which somehow registers you on their network. Hang up and data will be flowing.
Reboot, profile update and airplane mode toggle don't work.
At one point in June I made a call to customer service and don't remember data working after the call. But it's a been a while. I'll definitely give that a shot next I'm out there. Thanks for the tip!

For the last several months when I've driven through US Cellular territory in KS and NE my GS7 will connect to USC LTE but I will get no data throughput. Reboots do not fix the problem.
Anyone else seeing this or am I all alone here?

I had trouble getting data to connect on USCC on my GS7 as well. turning the roaming guard for data ON and getting it to through the prompt up finally fixed it.
Also, it was surprisingly hard to get data to stay off while I was out there while still leaving the voice network up. (several times the restrict background data option would reset itself)
I was on the phone a couple of times with customer service trying to figure out the problem. Could send texts, too. But no data before or after the calls.I returned yesterday along the same roads that I traveled on Saturday and therefore came back into USCC territory. I again could not establish any data throughput. My wife's phone worked fine in the same spot.
A reboot did not fix it. I also tried to upgrade the PRL even though it didn't need it and did a profile update. Neither fixed it.
For some reason, I thought to try to place a voice phone call. The voice call went through and the minute I hung up I had blazingly good LTE data on USCC.
It seems as though I just wasn't getting registered properly on their network and by placing a phone call, that flipped the switch somehow.
One thing I did not try was fiddling with the roaming guards. I'll give that a shot next time around if I still have problems. Thanks for the tip.

Most of the drive from northwest of Des Moines, IA up to Okoboji, IA is in US Cellular roaming territory. However, for most of the drive despite being connected to US Cellular LTE, I had no data connection whatsoever.
Did you restart? I find that once I enter USCC territory that I connect to EVDO / LTE but data doens't work. A restart fixes it for me every time.
I go into USCC territory often in TN/NC.
This happened to me in rural KS with my GS7 on multiple occasions. No amount of reboots, air plane mode toggles, or calls to customer service could help me. Something goofy is going on there.

It'd be cool if it's bootloader was also unlocked. But that's probably just wishful thinking.Well it took long enough to happen but an unlocked version for the US market supporting the major carriers has finally appeared.

Why not?don't update

Anyone download PF2 for S7 yet?

My S7 is actually a bit smaller than my old S5.A bit off-topic, but not 100% sure where to put it. Does Sprint sell ANY Android phones that are less than 5" and not ancient? I know Boost has some but apparently you can't take a Boost phone to Sprint post-paid for some reason.
My wife thinks my S5 is too big and everything I saw at the Sprint store today was the same size or larger.

Even w/o LTE roaming on my GS5, I'm sure getting good use out of 3G in US Cellular areas. For me, this has made all my previous coveting of Verizon's network evaporate.

Google announces Project Fi: Partners with Sprint and T-Mobile for Network Access (previous title: Google to start it's own Wireless Service; using T-Mobile/Sprint for it's Network Footprint.)

My thoughts were more on the bargaining position or contract negotiations between Fi and a combined Sprint and T-Mobile. I suppose it's possible that this new 'conglomerate' doesn't entertain the idea of leasing bandwidth like that to someone like Google. But who knows. There's probably already something in the current contract that addresses these kinds of issues.
I don't know. Just thinking out loud.
