  1. I spoke with customer care via chat. They asked me to toggle the data roaming switch in settings. I seem to remember this fixing a Sprint roaming issue I had with a different Android device I owned many moons ago. I bet this fixes the problem. I'll be in Hermann Missouri this weekend to test. I'll report when I get back.

They also had me update profile / prl / reboot ... but I'd already done that. I'm gonna bet this roaming turn-it-off-and-back-on-again thing actually works.

A lot of rural carriers are part of the CCA which is basically a lobbying group that advocates for the interests of smaller carriers. Part of being in the CCA means you get favorable roaming agreements. Currently, the combined coverage of all CCA members more or less matches Verizon's coverage. So while having Verizon may have made it easy to use them as a one stop shop for all of the U.S., it isn't like they are left with no options.

Are there truly that many folks that use Verizon roaming on Sprint?! In my 13 year run with Sprint I've successfully made two calls on Verizon roaming and one was in a basement and that call dropped, and the other was in a super in a super small town upstate NY and that call kept failing. I just don't see the need for it anymore, if your constantly in a fringe area that ends up roaming on V, you should probably just switch to Verizon or whoever covers those places.

I don't live or work or even sit down in those places for very long. But they do exist. Sparsely populated, rural areas of Kansas and Nebraska will occasionally show Verizon roaming for me on SCP. In emergency situations that can be a bummer. Rare, admittedly, but not impossible considering the players involved.

  3. My Fios IP is blocked again. Consistently happens when I use Tapatalk to browse the board.. if I stay logged in for notifications but use the mobile website, it doesn't seem to happen.

"Chris" at Tapatalk asked me for blocked IPs vs not blocked IPs the last time I had an exchange with him. You might send him your issue backed up with IP addresses.

  4. I also use my Google Voice number in a conditional call forwarding scenario to get visual voicemail. Works very well and I've been using it for years, actually, across many devices. One caveat is that whenever your phone's profile gets updated from the network it resets the conditional call forwarding setting and you just have to re-set it up.

We installed the new plug-in from Tapatalk last night.  Maybe things will get better.

I'm in with Tapatalk now, too. Thanks!

That has not been my experience at all.  When roaming on US Cellular, the moment my phone thinks it sees 1X 800 from Sprint, it immediately ditches the US Cellular LTE signal and tries to connect to 1X 800 until it realizes there was nothing there after all.  Very, very annoying.

My Pixel 2 does this and previously my GS7 did this in rural Nebraska.

  7. I got a reply to my email from "Chris." I gave him the line on the IPboard security update correlation with the account sign up / login discrepancy story. He thanked me for the note said he'd pass it on to the "technical team."

It began sometime last week or the week before.

Robert updated the forums to the new IPboard security update but I think we had some reports of it happening even before it. We've reinstalled  the tapatalk plugin several times to try and fix the issue but nothing.

What's weird is that you can sign up an account to the forum on taptalk but can't login with it. So tapatalk can communicate with the forum at least for that but fails for logging in. I actually would recommend people contact tapatalk support and see their thoughts as Robert has done everything we can on our end AFAIK.

I've sent an email to Tapatalk support. We'll see what comes of it.

Known problem affecting a number of users. Robert and myself attempted to  diagnose /   fix it from the our  end to no avail. We're not sure what's the issue at this point as well...

Yeah, I've not had any problem for ages and suddenly the last few days Tapatalk won't let me in. Is can the timeline be traced back to a specific set of posts that have some feature enabled in them? Polls? Odd embedded links? Did the forum get updated? I started having trouble just before Tapatalk updated.

  10. Added additional specs to the OP.

So far, so good with this Pixel 2.

    Screen still looks great.

I never did get any of the clicking or whining during phone calls that some were experiencing. Phone calls sound great. Really great.

Loud speakers don't sound as good as I thought they might. Kind of tin-like when you really crank up the volume.

I seem to always get a data link where ever I go. Supports all the USCC LTE bands and I've had no trouble roaming (pseudo natively) in USCC territory in rural Kansas and Nebraska.

    Hotspot works very well.

Battery lasts FOREVER w/o the bloat that often comes with non-nexus / non-pixel Android devices ... that's my favorite part.

Camera is pretty fantastic. I've used the "portrait" mode on a number of occasions and receive a lot of complements on the photos.

I only sort of miss the audio jack. It does come with a USB-C to 3.5mm jack dongle in the box, so I carry that around with me when I need it and get by just fine.

I miss the cool factor of the wireless charging my S7 had. But really don't need it as long as this battery is lasting.

I do miss the Samsung Pay tech where you can use your phone to pay at most retailers that don't support NFC mobile payments.

But none of those things I miss would dissuade me from making this purchase again. After 3 months, still very happy with my choice.

  11. People can post whatever they want on Twitter. That’s something that can’t be controlled and “trolling” mentions/replies is nothing new over there.
A substantial number of companies have made public statements (including on Twitter) on what the Tax Bill means for their companies and employees going forward:
    https://www.washingtonpost.com/graphics/2017/business/corporations-tax-cut-gop-tax-bill
Given these other companies’ statements, why should Marcelo have refrained from commenting on it?
Just because you "can" do something doesn't mean you should.

A company statement is not the same as comments from a public figure within an organization.

  12. I've been doing well without the Pro version and just the free version installed with VIP status. So don't you jinx me!
My only block came when I made a trip through an experiment with the Pro version of Tapatalk installed. Back to the free version and no more issues for me.
