Same happened to me. The tower got upgraded but the signal was shotty because it seemed like they turned on a few sectors but not the one directly pointed toward my home!
I think they so that so more people experience coverage in diff areas as they put up. It's just a rotation, but still the same panel

I have noticed a lot of LTE sites that were there previously go offline, but 3G most places have improved and stayed consistent. Do they always keep the 3G sites up even If they shut down the 4g?
-
3mbps is also the theoretical max of EVDO RevA, and even on a dedicated connection, you won't see 3mbps. The max I've ever seen on a dedicated NV EVDO site is 2.5mbps.
I meant in general

As long as people average 1.5-1.8mbps on 3G, the experience will be golden. You don't really need more than that for Pandora, Spotify, etc.
3mbps will give u hd stream

I borrowed my niece sprint s4 and it had good 4g connection by bk bridge. Things are coming along nicely in some spots.
Yes around %75 of Brooklyn is covered with LTE, so if your in Brooklyn, u can make the switch now!

Those speeds are okay for browsing actually. I'm getting pings of 200+ and .15 Mbps. Hopefully a large amount of capacity is installed in the area.
I think I meant .04. Like 40 Kbps. It wasn't usable

LTE isn't functional inside Yankee stadium. Had 3 bars but no actual Internet connection.
We went trough this already. Got .4 Mbps and like 60 ms ping time. U won't get a connection during game time. That speed test was after multiple try's.

not a good idea i think. i will wait until at least 50 percent of the towers has LTE and also when triband phones come out.
I'm guessing the next iphone will be at least dual band with 1900/800 LTE . That's good enough. Yes Triband would be nice, but 800 will be sufficient.

I went to the museum of art and design on 57st..parked around 63rd st and Broadway, noticed blazing speeds during rush hour!! ( 5:30pm)awesome to see midtown getting there.
16mb down 8mb up 38ping!
I wouldn't call 57st midtown. How was the museum? How much is the fee to get in?

I anticipate that Spank will be bringing the heat once the merger is finalized.
Spank will def

I happen to like the Alcatel way, 3G first then LTE later. It gives the users more spread out usability.

When does sprint predict nv to be done in NY, I know they are currently behind but did they provide an update to when they think they will be done?
I'm guessing officially announced by the summer, but as for complete NYC, I would say at the end of 2013.

Do they throttle their data on Sprint? Anyone with unlimited would be grandfathered in.
No they don't throttle and yes probably you would be gf in
-
i really think they should make the data plan like tmobile. make it unlimited no throttling until 5gb, and after 5gb, 3g speed only. I forgot to put wifi on the other day and youtube/netflix ate up so much data.
If I'm not mistaken, tmobile changed from 5gb to truly unlimited. Sprint should throttle the top 5 percent like verizon does on their grandfathered LTE plan. Verizon throttles those users on the panel they are connected to until more bandwidth is free and then back to normal.

Mid next year is when I would switch. Or if you hear unlimited data is going away.
If unlimited data goes away, I will switch providers.

I noticed the city is finally coming along nicely, I drove from 140st to 59st..and kept a pretty good LTE signal all the way through..
Local? FDR or WSH?
-
They both have SMR voice and data. Just not LTE data. 1x data is around 153Kbps at top speed.
Coming soon to a area near you. 56 k speeds with new improved burst speeds! Lol

hmmm
s4gru mentions that devices and phones will have 800 capability by summer and year end. Then all of a sudden Sprint and media outlets mention Triband devices by summer, phones by year end all with 800 capability.
Coincidence, I think not.
Anyway, as for the topic at hand, a while back my LTE signal was less than optimal, but lately, both at work and home, its been quite good. i don't even have to use the Tri-Fi hotspot as much as I used to. Speaking of which, I sort of like the look of the new Triband hotspot in the articles.

800 should be available after June 30 sometime. Some phones like the iPhone 5 have 800 voice built in, but not data. Probably the next iphone will have 800 LTE . The galaxy s4 and the new htc also both dont have 800 LTE compatible. So wait for your next upgrade if speed and coverage matter to u

EPIC!
The concept is awesome. But their will most likely be a cap. But if their is no cap, I'm in!
-
I thought LTE was officially going to be announced by June. We will see.

There's no way that's true, the NYC market is only 50% complete. Most places I frequent still have slow 3G.
Quite the opposite for me. Their have been rare occasions where 3G has been slow. Again we are talking about NYC, which LI officially isn't included.

I know if I didn't have a LTE capable phone, I wouldn't really care. Besides Long Island, most of NYC us done anyway. It's really just LII said the same thing lol, and it's looking like that will be the case. Not that it matters to me, since I don't have a phone capable of LTE, but still.
-
yea I agree. but 99 percent of the time we do not leave the city and Tmobile has great HSPA+ speed and now deploying LTE fast. I have to say that at least in urban areas like nyc, tmobile is actually very competitive. However, i still have good faith in 800mhz/2500mhz LTE on sprint for the long run. I have a question. will 800mhz LTE on sprint will take as long as deploying 1900mhz LTE or is it just turning on the switch by a software?
I think it's just a switch. Or it was done at the same time as the 1900 sites and it can't get switched on until after June 30, when Nextel gets shut down.
-
That's because Sprint is deploying for coverage right now. I think T-Mobile is going for small dense pockets of LTE first.
I guess tmobile thinks people have a lot of patience

Not quite sure what u mean! Also that is really OT!
