  1. I'm going to leave mine on for awhile based on the reports of others. Although I probably won't be a good test because I always plug in while I'm in the office or in the car so my battery experience won't be accurate.

  2. I haven't used it yet but what would annoy me was when I got a call while using navigation and the NAV voice would play in my earpiece while the person calling me was talking. I wonder if that's fixed. I'll have to try it.

    **EDIT**

Does the EVOLTE have native screenshot capability? I've been rooted for so long I don't know what people who aren't rooted are doing for screenshots these days.

  3. Took awhile but I am finally the owner of a shiny new Evo 4G LTE! This is a sweet phone. Soooo light compared to my OG Evo and it's a feather compared to my coworkers 3D.

  4. I now officially hate Best Buy. They have some of the pre-ordered phones in the store' date=' but not mine. Wtf?[/quote']

My BB Rep is saying they were having issues with the system saying there were none in inventory but the phones were right there in hand. Yours is probably there but not showing up on the computer list.

There is def something jacked up in their system. The system can't seem to find my preorder even though we're looking right it.

  5. I've had nothing but positive experiences with purchasing my phones from BB. Sometimes the activation process takes awhile but other than that it's been good

  6. Not sure I understand your question. You can turn on the LTE radio if you want but all it will do is hunt for a signal and burn battery.

  7. Been with the galaxy series since the OG EPIC 4G spanked the Evo, my GS2 hasn't dropped one call in the year I've owned it...just sayin.

Wow....does the fact that You haven't had any issues take away from what has been reported by many thread's of complaints on tech sites. Not to mention many Tech sites reviews state that there is a reception issue with Samsung phones. Be realistic please....I posted a truthful factual occurrence, and if you research I think you will find I speak the truth. The 4.04 upgrade is suppose to fix these little bugs and, I am sure Sprint's connectivity issue is solved or in the works!

In defense of thirdcoast, he simply stated that he has had no dropped calls. He didn't mention anything about data connectivity and all the posted links were reference a data connectivity issue not voice calls.

No, one person's experience does not negate the experience of a group of others, but in the same manner the vocal group of those with problems doesn't negate the experience of the group who are having no problems. thirdcoast's lack of issues with dropped calls is also a truthful, factual occurence, in his context.

Once the new Galaxy comes out we'll know soon enough if it is really the device it's purported to be. I am excited to see it but I wish I could get a more concrete idea of when it is expected to launch. I am torn between the new Evo and the new Galaxy.

  8. Its better than just Sprint's word. Sprint has spent millions on deployment plans and scheduling to bring LTE to every site with Network Vision upgrades. It is coming. Even to those remote and obscure sites out in the middle of a cornfield.

When people complain about Sprint's past deployments, it almost always because of assumptions about deployment. Not any official or inside deployment info. Everyone assumed Sprint and Clearwire were taking WiMax nationwide, but Sprint never said that. Because they never actually planned to do that.

However, Sprint says with LTE that they are going nationwide this time. And also we have the evidence if that and continually report on it. This is completely a different deployment. Not only unprecedented with Sprint. But actually, unprecedented with any carrier in America...ever.

I wish more people could understand this. I see so many comments on other blogs about how Sprint lied and never delivered on their promise to bring Wimax to whatever part of the country they happen to occupy. Yet, every promo or ad I ever saw regarding 4G from Sprint or any other carrier always said something to the effect of "4G speeds not guaranteed. 4G is not available everywhere."

  9. Even though I'm not getting mime until BB has them in stock I'm genuinely happy to hear you guys are getting yours. I'm looking forward to everyone's comments on theirs.

  10. It's not hard to understand how these guys do it. When you combine time pressure from an employer with the fearlessness and feeling of invulnerability of some then you can see it. I worked in the printing industry for years and you would see older guys missing fingers from bypassing safety measures on cutting and printing machines in order to get something done faster. Machine manufacturers go through design hoops to create safety measures that cannot be bypassed just to prevent this from happening.

If it takes a guy 30 or more extra minutes to climb a tower because he has to unhook/tie-off every few feet and his employer is pressuring him to get more done in a given day where do you think he is going to try to cut time? The only way this changes is if guys are at risk of losing their jobs if they ignore safety measures. The only way that happens is if corporations face costs when their employees ignore safety measure.

At least the tower guys are getting paid...

  11. The screenshot says that a shipping label was created on May 22. Shipped via 2nd Day Air would put arrival on May 24. That's Thursday by my calendar.

The phrasing that I think keeps getting missed here is "We will do our best". I don't see that as a promise or commitment to a certain day. I see it as they will do their best, BUT, there is a chance that they will miss that date.

  12. It's coming to the Charleston area.

Those who donate and become Sponsors have access to the interactive maps showing the Network Vision sites across the country. If you go to the front page of the forum section there is a Paypal donate button on the upper right. When you donate make sure to include your forum name and Robert will update your account status to Sponsor. Then you can access the Interactive Maps section.

There is no minimum donation amount but consider that this is not a for-profit site and there is no advertising. This site is completely member supported.

  14. HTC One X Stress Test. This is a video of the One X being tumbled in a dryer at an event in Malaysia. You can see the screen is on doesn't appear to be damaged in any way. According to the video the device has been tumbling for hours.

As I understand it, the EVO LTE and the One X are essentially the same device so perhaps we can assume similar durability for the EVO.

  15. gmtom1 posted this earlier, but just putting it out there again...any timetable for Honolulu?

2nd this request! (sorry for the self-serving post) Just itchin' for some news about the 808 state.

    This is a quote from Robert in another thread;

There is no timelines for any city, per se. Network Vision is rolled out over a whole market, one site at a time. ... <quote snipped>

  16. I know this is the HTC thread but I just read that Motorola is now facing a ban due to Microsoft patent complaints. I guess this is the new way of doing business now.

  17. I still haven't gotten as much a a peep from Sprint! No email or call! So as far a most people would know they should have already gotten their phones! I am so getting my $36 activation and $45 upgrade fee back for this BS! My account still shows we'll try to get it to you before the natinal launch and on the sprint site in my orders it says in progress. Also my account balanace still shows negative -211 dollar. Arg Sprint get your crap together! At least call, text or email me letting me know I'm being screwed!

    5th

How are you getting screwed? When you pre-ordered they said they would do their best to get the phone to you by or before the launch date. The phone hasn't officially launched due to circumstances that are apparently out of Sprint's control.

I can understand the frustration of not getting something when you expected but I don't see how Sprint is screwing anybody over on this one.

  18. Not very scientific. Washington beltway just south of American Legion Bridge or the Potomac in VA. There was a guy on the tower working on an antenna. It's a shorter beefy monipole tower. I tried to get on speed test and open signal but I transfered to another tower so couldn't verify anything

Oh, so you were the guy swerving whilst looking at his cell phone? I thought you looked familiar.

There are 3 towers in that stretch that show as due for NV upgrades but they don't seem to be on the May 2012 schedule map.
