So which "guy" are you thanking cuz there were a lot of "guys" who contributed to this thread? If you're gonna single out just one "guy" out of the many "guys" the least you could do is identify said "guy". I had to cut this rant short because the forum will only allow 10 quotation marks per post.

I'm reading this thread with a smile on my face thinking back to how so many wanted HTC/Sprint to push this update out as soon as possible. Well it's here now and -shocker- it's kind of buggy for some. It seems that so many were certain that JellyBean was going to be the holy grail for their phones. The sad part is we'll have the same song and dance for Key Lime Pie and Chunky Monkey and Apple Crisp or whatever silly name Google gives to the upcoming versions. This update has gone flawlessly for me. None of my apps or widgets broke. I seem to be connecting to LTE automatically when in range to the few towers in my normal travels. I haven't noticed any great difference in performance. The greatest plus for me is that People is no longer buggy for me. It was getting to the point where making a phone call was almost impossible. The contacts would just lock up. No longer. All in all I'm happy with the update but only because some of my minor issues were resolved. It's not the revolution that some believed it was going to be.

It's always best when major changes have been made to give the device at least a couple of charge/discharge cycles before making any determination about battery life effects. There may have been battery intensive things going on behind the scenes following the update that won't be a factor from now on. I do like the new Power screen now.

I went kind of crazy with apps on my new iPad. It's not a mini but I am sure most should work fine on the mini. Some are free, some are paid. I didn't list all the games because that is really subject to your interests.

My EvoLTE has connected successfully to LTE several times recently with no intervention on my part at all. I haven't had to toggle or do anything weird. On Sunday I was in Suitland, Maryland just off of Pennsylvania Avenue, about a mile over the Southern Ave border and I had LTE indoors and outside. I have also connected successfully to the Bowie tower several times without doing anything special. I keep my EvoLTE in LTE/CDMA mode all the time. I am not rooted and I have no special PRLs or anything. It is completely stock.

I heard a rumor that the update is actually going to come but only at some future date. But you know how rumors are.

I had forgotten about the separated keyboard. I just tried it typing this response and I didn't like it. The keys become too small for my fat fingers and I type in a weird way for some characters, for example I use my left forefinger for the letter "b" but that character is on the right side of the separate keyboard. It's a cool idea though.

The only way I see me getting an iPhone is if the screen size was equivalent to the larger Android phones and if iOS eventually allows greater customization of the home screen without jailbreaking. I like the fact that I an have a very spare layout to my screens and still have access to all my apps in the app drawer. Plus I am partial to Sense widgets. Well widgets period. Audio Manager widget is essential to my daily use of my phone. I think I am good with having separate OS choices for the two devices. They perform two totally different functions for me so why not have two separate devices. Oh, and the iPad keyboard in landscape is killer. I am two-hand typing almost as well as on a physical keyboard.

As much as folks down this device I'm finding it a real pleasure to use. The screen is indeed beautiful ( I'm not saying it's more beautiful than any other device), the form factor works well for my hands and this screen size makes just about everything more pleasurable to do than on my phone or Kindle Fire. I'm loving the app selection as well. I don't think I'll ever be an iPhone guy simply because I prefer the android look and feel in a phone but there is no denying that the iPad is a great device.

It was a little strange to come out of my house and have a barely usable cellular signal on my EvoLTE but getting a full bar LTE signal on my iPad. I set up the Verizon account and decided to test it out while my wife and I went out to breakfast. It worked beautifully. And doing a little surfing (Facebook, web surfing, uploading a couple pics to instagram, email, etc.) didn't use much data at all. I think I made the right choice.

The fact that the data plan can be turned on or off when I need it or not is what sealed the deal for me. You can also activate the data from the device so you don't have to go to a computer or call in. I also chose Verizon as the carrier so that I would have connectivity choice if I am in a poor Sprint coverage area.

Well I made the leap and got the 32GB WiFi + Cellular model. I love it so far! Got a little bit of a discount being Black Friday and all. iOS devices have caught up with Android devices in my household at 3 each. My iPad and iPod touch and my wife's iPhone to my EvoLTE and our two Kindle Fires.

Touché on that last part. I was just trying to head off those who don't like or use Apple products yet always feel the need to make snarky comments in Apple threads. You make a very good point regarding storage. I usually end of regretting it when I go skimpy on the storage. I figured I would never need more than 8GB on my iPod and now I'm regretting that decision. I know that the iPad data plans are month to month with Verizon (and perhaps the others) so I can see firing it up for a month if I'm going on vacation where I know I won't have WiFi access or where I think I'll have spotty Sprint coverage for navigation and such.

If I decide to go with a Wifi+Cellular I think I will go with someone other than Sprint. I was reading somewhere else on here that having separate providers for tablet and phone helps to insure that you have access when one or the other is unavailable. I can see being in many places where Sprint coverage is lacking and I would still be able to get online with my iPad on verizon or ATT.

I may be purchasing an iPad soon and I am trying to decide on WiFi only or WiFi and Cellular. For those of you who have iPads which did you choose and why? A second question I just thought of; storage capacity - how much? I don't imagine I will be keeping my complete music collection on the iPad so storage may not be as big an issue. If I intend to watch a movie I would probably just remove it after I'm done watching. Anyway, thanks for any insight. As always, I am not looking for any fanboy ranting from either side. If you don't own, haven't owned and never would own an iPad then I can't see you adding much to this topic. Please respect that.

Yes. The rice acts as a desiccant; similar to those little packs that say "Do Not Eat" you get in electronics shipments. If you can get the device powered off quickly enough and let it completely dry out you can often save it. The problem with iPhones and newer devices is that you can't remove the battery so it's difficult to get it completely without power so there is the risk that something may still short.

The story about getting her from a blackberry to something a little more current is a long one detailed in another thread in this section somewhere. It's much simpler to just get her back on the blackberry until we suss out the the situation with the iPhone.

Thanks. I've got it in a ziplock bag with the rice. I won't bother it for awhile and see what happens. If nothing works we may still decide to bite the bullet and pay for a new one otherwise we spend another 2 years with that old blackberry before we can upgrade her again.

We did the rice thing. It powered up but was real buggy. The main camera wouldn't work and some sounds wouldn't play. Then it wouldn't stay powered on even with a full battery or while plugged in. Sent from my EVO LTE using Forum Runner
