  1. Hello , after being banned for a week for no apparent reason I've learned something ignore the jerks who like to start drama with me .

    Anywaysss back on topic .

I've noticed something , the tower that im closest to might be upgraded 3G wise I mean but the speed is only good when im a certain distance away from it . When im to close the signals excellent but the service is unusable its really confusing just making a assumption .

If you get emotional, you lose more than you gain. Always be calm and try to have friendly demeanor.

  2. one of the LTE site nearby my house in Flushing (Roosevelt Ave and Parson Blvd) has three serving cell#s; 466, 297 and 128. i think they are facing different side of the building and sometimes they are all off but sometimes they turn on one of the cell and sometimes like today, they turned on 297 and 128, but not 466. are they testing signal strength of each cell or something?

  3. Not much new LTE actions going on in NYC... But Sprint telling me that my tower near home is going live 3/29. I know it's Sprint CS so I take it with grain of salt but its good news.

Sprint reps really do not know anything about which tower is going live and when. If that's scheduled date and actually it becomes lte active, then its awesome

  4. Yeah you may be right..that would explain why there are so many panels up there. I just learned that sprint was up there because I saw the techs with their equipment in the lobby and I asked... They confirmed sprint nv is updated at that site..but they didn't mention if there were any other carriers up there.

Here is another pic of just the ones on the right...

not sure but one of the member spoke to network infrastructure workers came to his building and he noticed they took down 8 old panels and installed only 4 new panels from what i can remember. maybe the new panels do not require to put that many facing the same direction?

  5. Geez now that that's finally taken Care of, here is a pic of my newly updated nv panels on my roof upper west side...sorry these are the best pics I could get with my evo. Panels along south east and south west as well as panels circling the roof and more on the north east n west that you cant see on the photos

i think the ones of the left looks like sprint towers but the ones on the right corner looks like other carrier?

  6. The area he is talking about is in Throggs Neck which is no where near the Grand Concourse. Happy to hear Throggs Neck is starting to see it appear, this part of the Bronx has not seen much action at all yet.

Brookyln is getting all the attention now. so many towers are lighting up with LTE. Queens is left out for now.

Hey that map from what I can see is accurate. I would assume that the signal strength will be the the same once its completed.. my signal has been weak as far as 4g LTE because i Know the lte towers have been pretty widespread but once done it should improve. Only one tower out of the 4 in my direct area has 4g LTE live so the signal strengh is poor in my apartment but it should get better

There are less wimax towers than sprint towers but existing location of all wimax towers are all sprint tower locations as far as the maps are being concerned

  8. Not true , because before Sprint LTE was in NYC I read from a very reliable source that Sprint was going for a End of March completion for NYC the latest for us would probably be late April early May if they don't complete in time but I doubt that because Sprint is overhauling LTE for us .

I think queens has less than 10 towers up for lte. Dont see how they will finish by end of march. Not even end of april at this speed. Maybe end of the year I think.

  9. 2 things... Sprint isn't just going to switch some sites off and leave them off for the magical launch day you guys keep putting on pedestal. Nothing special is going to happen that day except for one little thing...tickets can be opened on the LTE sites. That's it. The tower crews aren't going synchronize their watches and push a button at the same time. They network operation group aren't going to make the sites faster or stronger. Stop waiting for it. All that is going to happen is some PR guy is going to get a report of site completion/coverage. The dept is going to meet on it and agree on the release. The press release goes out. The maps are updated on Sprint.com. The tower crews continue to work as normal like nothing happened.

All the speedtests are really not needed. If you have a -110 LTE signal don't expect very fast LTE speeds. We don't need a huge screenshot to see it, the signal numbers speak for themselves. Try posting pictures of interesting stuff like workers, active panel installs, etc.

    yessir!

  10. While I can't speak of technical details that I know nothing about, especially in other boroughs, I can say that in Uptown Manhattan andthe Bronx I have seen towers sporadically go on aand off for testing. The same is true for the speeds. I'm Ok with it though because the market hasn't officially launched, it hasn't occurred for extended periods of time, and the way the coverage is spreading I'm never more than a few blocks away from an LTE signal.

LTE tower is up about a block away from me but the site is on and off for the past two weeks. however, two other towers nearby are up 24/7 since they were turned on three weeks ago.

I don't know... I honestly don't think using the cellular network on your smartphone will cause too much slowdown for others. If anything it would be the illegal tethering usage that would slow it down. I agree that wifi should be used more often but then again we are paying a premium to use our smartphones for $10 extra. Either don't charge the premium if i am using wifi more then cellular or charge it and let me use it as I see fit. It's the illegal tethering that's the problem. lol

Yes I think you are right. Illegal tethering is the main problem with unlimited plan. There are such apps called foxfi that lets you tether devices even without rooting your device. One of my friend was using 4g wimax illegal tethering and uses upto 50gb per month. Apparently sprint called him and asked him what he is doing with so much data usage.
