  1. sorry for my lack of knowledge in wireless services but i have some questions after getting note 2. i really do not know the difference between ehrpd, cdma, evdo. i was checking my phone status and sometimes it shows evdo and sometimes it shows ehrpd. what is the difference? and the signal strength shows -85dbm and 4asu and the numbers seem to change. i know dbm is decibel and lower the number is the better the signal. but what is ASU? thanks in advance. sprint have to work faster in NYC although i see good improvements in 3G speeds.

  2. I've been w/o 4G for wks now. I called sprint and asked if there is an outage. No outage, 3g in my area is horrible. Next step is emailing Dan. This is ridiculous.

4g lte hasnt been released in nyc yet. consider yourself lucky to live in bronx. i have never seen a glimpse of lte in queens yet

  3. What do you mean 3G towers only? Every sprint tower is getting 1900 LTE. (with only about 100 exceptions).

We don't know enough about Clear's plans for LTE yet, but it will likely be only in high traffic areas, and not necessarily on every WiMax tower, at least initially.

if every 3G towers are getting 4G LTE 1900mhz towers on it, does that mean if you used to get crappy 3g speed, you will likely not able to fully utilize 4G LTE from that tower since they have same frequency?

  4. i see some good improvement in 3G speed in queens NY. however, they need some work to do near little neck and close to long island. it is very odd that sometimes in little neck, i get under 100ms ping and around 1mbps download speed, but if i run the test again few minutes later, i get 500ms ping and .05mbps download speed.

  5. 80% of every tower. The exact sites given upgrades to LTE800 are unknown.

wow 80 percent sounds promising with lower frequency band. clearwire's LTE will be on every wimax towers? i see that wimax has so many towers due to its high 2500mhz frequency. i've read on this forum that clear is not trying to make the coverage wide spread as they did with wimax. I am very interested in what will happen now. thanks for your comment.

  6. I don't really have time to rebut this but much of it is wrong. Lower frequency does not mean greater speeds, it means greater signal strength. That would technically be shared by more people but Sprint is not removing towers, they are keeping their 1900mhz density. Also lower frequencies are less prone to weather interference. Lastly, 2500mhz will be used as an overlay of hotspots to offload users to.

he is not entirely wrong. i am interested in 2500mhz LTE from clear and how that will affect LTE users.

  7. LTE is being released on every tower, also, it'll be about the same signal strength as your 1x signal is. If you have a dBm value of higher than -95, LTE will be almost non-existent in your apartment complex. NYC is lighting up with LTE though on the 1900 mhz band and will begin it's 800mhz deployment mid-year, 2013. 800Mhz frequency allows for much better coverage radius and building penetration. Tmobile I hear is very reliable in big cities but in rural areas, you'll have a hard time. You have 14 days to try them out. ;)

If you can put up with the GSM voice quality, then it sounds like T-Mobile is your best option. Both Sprint and T-Mobile have a bright future. There's nothing wrong with going to T-Mobile if Sprint doesn't meet your needs. I do think that Sprint is trying to make their current customers with this repaid LTE deployment.

I recall somewhere that the new NV equipment will increase coverage by up to 20% (could vary from site to site).

thank you so much for your comment! Do you know around when sprint will start rolling out 800mhz and 2500mhz capable devices? I am only seeking out for my best option and inquire about sprint network upgrades that will be available in coming months. i know some of you guys are very avid sprint fans and spent precious time to help out other people with your knowledge.
